Wonderful Wednesday - Sustenance Before the LONG Journey Home

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  If you read my #intothewoolfibreretreat2018 post - released yesterday, you know that my friend, Libby, lives near the Retreat Center.  As evidenced by her visit to the camp:

The backstory...

She recently moved to East Tennessee and I suddenly had the thought that Libby moved to Crossville.  I just HAD to inquire!!

Libby confirmed that was where she had moved.  I checked Google and found that her home was actually a half hour away.  Dang!  That's pretty far to travel for a quick visit.  :o((

It turns out that Libby was out doing errands when I texted her to inquire about her location.  She found Lake Frances Retreat Center with little difficulty.

The invitation...

Being the good friend that she is, my travel companion and I were invited to lunch at the Glade (Libby's new house) to be saved from the evils of fast food before our trip home.  Thank you SEW much!

We were delighted by the possibility!  Well, I was delighted.  Tracy is more of a "make a beeline home" type of person, but she wanted to show her appreciation for my driving to TN and back, so she resigned herself to the thought of a brief detour.  Thanks, T!!  (As luck would have it, she seemed to enjoy lunch, too.)  After the adventure of Knit Camp, lunch at Libby's gave us a completely different view of the lake... Not to mention a tour of her lovely new home...

Right off the bat, I spotted the mug rug I made for our exchange!  It was nice to be able to get a shot of it with its recipient:

Although it was quite damp outside, Tracy and I took a brief tour of the exterior and yard:

The house tour...

Libby has her midarm frame set up in her quilting studio.  Get a load of that VIEW through the door to the sewing studio:

Something has to be done about this outdoor space, just outside the sewing space and around the corner, but details are sketchy:

We continued the tour with a trip through the 1st of 2 guest rooms...

Libby put out her Blooming 9-Patch just for me:

The one that I'm making won't have the additional rounds that she added to make hers a queen sized quilt:

It's really hard to see...

... But if you maximize the photo below, you can see that Libby added a round of an 8th fabric 9-Patch, squares of that 8th fabric all around, and then the triangle edging, followed by wide borders of the same fabric:

It was a great solution for expanding the quilt size:

Just before lunch, we had a tour of the living room which is where I spotted this interesting quilting design for Flying Geese:

Right after lunch, we were treated to a tour of the 2nd guest room.  It was the one with the Quilt Closet, which was partially emptied for our viewing pleasure, and this awe inspiring iris painting graced the entrance.  It was painted by Mr. Lakeside's recently departed mother:

We made a pit stop, just over the North Carolina state line, at this quirky gas station that boasted a red (barely visible in the photo below) QUILTS sign out front:

Inside, there were stacks of quilts for sale:

Despite rain and traffic, we were home in time for a late dinner.  Crock Pot Lasagna complements of Tracy's family.  YUM!!
