{Not so...} Mini Monday - SAHRR - Round 6

Welcome to Round SIX of the Stay at Home Round Robin!!  This week's prompt was offered by Susan @ Quilt Fabrication.  Her choice??  Log Cabins.  I'm NOT a fan of making those, so I'm not sure how I will wade through this week.

Let's see if I was able to stay caught up with the other SAHRR makers...

I actually did make some progress on Round 6 by starting three Log Cabin blocks to add to my slowly growing quilt:

I added layer upon layer...

... Until they each got as big as I thought they needed to be:

Then, I started playing with the layout:

Until I landed on this one:

Which is where I left it for this week...

Because I just couldn't decide where I wanted to go from there.  I had hoped to remain caught up on my Stay at Home Round Robin (I still released this post a little early, again so I wouldn't miss the Link Party @ Susan's blog!)  Here it is in its current incomplete six-"round" state:

Just in time to check out the Round 7 prompt from Gail @ Quilting Gail.

Sew Some Love Sunday - LWR - Quilt Top #16 (and # 17}

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  I'm here with another report concerning the ongoing Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilt Drive here at The Joyful Quilter.  I recently got a delivery.

Here's the story...

A few weeks or so ago, Ruth B. stopped by to drop off quilt tops:

She had used a portion of the kit of squares - donated by Nann @ With Strings Attached - combined with some fabrics from her stash, to make Quilt Top #16:

The remainder of the squares were combined to construct Quilt Top #17, which was bordered with fabric from Ruth's stash:

Thank you, Ruth!  I appreciate the resources, time, and talent that you put into turning Nann's fabric squares into not one, but TWO quilt tops for this charity project.

Until next time...

The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 6 - Sunshine from Connie

Welcome to another edition of the Guest Blogger series!!  I contacted Connie the other day, but she wasn't quite finished with her project, at that time.  She was kind enough to forward a preview.

February's TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry from Connie, who had the following to say about her project...

I tried the string piecing with phone book pages and it went well. Next, I used a table runner tutorial from Connie @ Free Motion by the River combined with Pinterest and other bloggers to make the square topper. Quilting was next, but it's my least favorite thing. Hope to muscle my way through given it's such a small top:

What did I find in my inbox last night???  More from Connie...

Time for several WhooHoo's from me. The yellow strings table topper is finished:

No sun for a good outdoors photo, but grass is visible in the picture that shows the backing. Both sides are going to be great on the kitchen table with a small case of flowers:

And, last but not least, I got the first vaccine shot today! My husband got his earlier this month. We are looking forward to visiting family and friends with some precautions by late spring. I will check your blog to see all the beautiful projects shared by your readers.
Have a great weekend.
Connie

Thank you for sharing your lovely table topper with my readers, Connie!  I am SEW pleased to be able to post your project on my blog and will happily add it to the Table Scraps Link Party.

Share the quilty love for Connie's project in the comments below.  I know you enjoyed seeing her sunny YELLOW table topper as much as I did!  Thank you, again, Connie.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 9

Welcome to Week 9 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was SEW productive.  Take a moment to grab a snack and a drink because there will be LOTS of links to follow!

SUNDAY - I was busy after posting last week's ScrapHappy Saturday post.  I did a some piecing:

Candy stopped by to drop off a couple of donation quilts (Thank you, Ruth S.!!) for the Covid Nurse Quilt Project for Wake Med.  Of course, a bag of fabric scraps accompanied the quilts:

Thanks, Candy!!

I did some binding:

And visited with Britt, who stopped by bearing gifts:

This morning I released a new edition of Sew Some Love Sunday and in the midday, I posted my Project QUILTING entry for the 12.4 challenge.

Stitching stars of the wonky variety kept me busy most of the afternoon:

MONDAY - {Not so...} Mini Monday was released last night, so that I could join the SAHRR before Week 4's Link Party closed.

TUESDAY - Holy cow!!  I am reeling from all the posts and projects (and our power being out yesterday.)

This morning, I released another installment of The Guest Blogger(s) today, as Jane from Australia completed her February 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge project.

This afternoon, Ruth B. dropped of a donation quilt for the Covid Nurse Quilt Project that I'm helping with.  Large lap quilts are being collected for a local(ish) hospital where a friend's son works - details available upon request:

This evening, I enjoyed a Zoom-y Nights (Virtual) Quilt Bee meeting with friends:

WEDNESDAY - Just after midnight I released the post for my STOP on Carla's latest event.  Check out my STOP on the Show Your Stripes Blog Hop.  Hint!  If you like the looks of my project, you REALLY need to go read the post.  Here's a preview:

12 hours later, Knittingsuek stopped by for a grocery swap:

Look!!  We saw one of the first signs of Spring:

Another 9 hours later, I released a new edition of
Wonderful Wednesday.  Yep!  I finished a UFO.  :o))

Edited to add one of my favorite parts of the day...

My apologies to LeeAnna!  In my efforts to make sure I captured everything from the day, I somehow managed to neglect posting our weekly Zoom meeting:

THURSDAY - O
ur scheduler missed ZoomBEE this week.  (Hope you are having a glorious time at the beach, Deborah!)  Carol filled the void and hosted these 13 quilters this morning:

After a quick bite to eat, I was off on a scavenger hunt.  Hunting for donation quilts for the Covid Nurse Quilt Project for Wake Med!!

First stop, Jean's house:

Then on to Diane's:

Followed by a brief visit at Cheryl K's house:

The final donation was delivered to my door by Maggie:

Sorry, friends!  You will have to wait a little while to hear (and see) more about the quilts.  They will be included in a future edition of Sew Some Love Sunday.

This evening, I remembered that I still needed to finish up my TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry for this month.  I did a little sewing and finished preparing my post:

FRIDAY - The February 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge and Link Party went live early this morning/durina cog the middle of the night!!

At a more reasonable hour, ZoomKNIT met - with a couple of long lost knitters in the mix.  It was wonderful to see members of our Knit Group who are rarely able to join us:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Please visit the RSC Quilters hosted by Angela @ So Scrappy.  The end of the month is here.  Let's see what YELLOW projects have been completed.  Have you wondered what our new color will be??  Until that is announced, enjoy this little taste of Spring from the woods behind our house.  These daffodils bloomed the day before yesterday - but the ones out front (in full sun) have yet to bloom:

Also, check out the latest edition of The Guest Blogger(s).  Connie's post will be released momentarily.  The word on the street is that March's Color of the Month is GREEN!!!  Time to get busy on my next entry for the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge.  With Angela's new color announcement, I already have an idea of what I will make.  :o))

Until next time...

No blog?  No problem, you will be able to have your scrappy table runners/toppers hosted here on The Joyful Quilter.  Just pop me an email with your name/state and a photo of your completed project and I will add it to a follow-up post.

From our participants...

A Modern Table Runner from Kathy @ Hazel's Daughter blog:

Photo from Hazel's Daughter. Link provided above.

There was also a recommendation from Nann @ With Strings Attached for a link to FREE patterns for Mini Quilts that you might like as toppers for your small tables.  These patterns are available on All People Quilt.

BrittQuilts provided the following FREE pattern link for a cute House themed table runner:

Photo from Flamingo Toes. Link provided above.

Got favorites???

Email me, if you have a "go to" runner or topper pattern.  I'll add it to a future post.  Thanks!

Where's the table covering, Joyful???

I'm getting to that.  Since it was YELLOW month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I pulled out this Quilted Scrap Basket:

You can find my basket tutorial HERE.

SEW...

What happened next was some arranging of pre-pieced Crumb blocks:

... Some trimming:

Some assembly was required:

Oh, that sweet little bicycle...

Then came the layering...

... Basting...

... And quilting:

Finally came the binding.  Can you spot the best choice in this stack of low volume scraps??  I think I see it way down near the bottom:

This sweet print, a scrap from one of my lovely quilting friends, was just perfect for the front of this quilt:

Here is my February TABLE SCRAPS Challenge topper...

And...

On the side table by my "reading chair" in the living room:

For those of you who like to see the back of a quilt...

SURPRISE!!!  It's double-sided:

The binding is perfect for the backing, as well:

This month we are sharing our links through InLinz, so I'm hoping it works, as setting up the Link Party was SEW much less confusing!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!
