Congratulations to Shahann on her EIGHT (8) completed projects this session! Those finishes earned our Rock Star title for the Winter quarter.

Kudos to Lallison79 on her 2nd UFO finish of the quarter!!  With that 11th hour reporting, she is our Queen of the Last Minute.

Congrats to ALL of our finishers and thank you to all of our participants!!  Here's hoping that everyone else made some good progress on their projects. Thank you to our cheerleaders. We SEW appreciate your encouragement!

I am pleased to have contributed TWO finishes to the session totals...

April - Blue & Green for Parrish (2016)  DONE!!!  4/20/26

May - TSC Rainbow Plus Quilt (2024)  DONE!!!  5/14/26

Acknowledgements...

Special thanks to @Britt_quilts for her assistance in getting Parrish's quilt done!!  Thank you also to my local Quilt Bee's UFO Challenge.  The desire to finish the assigned monthly project has been a strong incentive!  (Although, not enough to complete all three this time around.)

An invitation...

If YOU have 5 (or more) UFO quilt projects, we'd love to have you join us for the next round of finishing fun. Sign-ups for the Summer 2026 UFO Club are now open at this LINK for the Summer 2026 UFO Club.  Sign-ups will be open through July 7, 2026 until 11:59 PM (EDT) on Tuesday, July 7th.  It's worth joining Ravelry and the Quilters Knitting group in order to have some extra encouragement to finish up those languishing projects! Leave a comment below, if you need help with the process.

Until next time...
Mark another UFO off the list!!

Summer 2026 - (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back to The Joyful Quilter!! The Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE quilt projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight (EDT) on September 30, 2026!!!

What's the game plan this time, Joyful???

As you may or may not know, I tend to list WAY more projects than I could EVER finish in a single session, but that gives me flexibility for project selection. While the "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation is the bare minimum, I like to err on the side MORE is better.  By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I have options. These choices increase the chances of finding projects that I'm willing to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1.  Like Deborah (Boschart) Only Not (2016)

2. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

3. Color Wheel Runner (2023)

4. Aboriginal Runner (2022)

5. Ravelry Exchange Quilt - Wandering Star (2009)

6. Bargello Wall Hanging (2017)

7. DOQ Neighborhood Challenge (2023)

8. Stitch Studio Remix (2012)

Quilting by Diane @ Stitch Studio
9. Bottom of the Bin Topper (2024)

10.  NT Ember/Lure Challenge (2026)

SEW...

With TEN  projects listed, I'll have plenty to choose from during the Summer 2026 UFO Club.  The list includes some "have to do", some "want to do", and a few "low hanging fruit" projects to get me going.  My goal is usually only ONE finish for the quarter. More than that is a bonus!  However, since the majority of these projects are on my UFO Challenge list, I'm hoping to complete one project per month.  We'll see if that happens this quarter.

Remember...

There's still time for YOU to join in the finishing fun!  Sign-ups for the Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club are open through Tuesday, July 7th @ 11:59 (EDT), so head over to the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry today.  Email if you need help with the process. (You will need to sign-up for Ravelry, the Quilters Knitting group, then state your intentions and projects in the discussion thread linked above.)

Until next time...
Wish me luck!!

ScrapHappy Saturday -RSC26 - Week 26

Welcome to Week 26 of the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week promises to be a bit less chaotic.  Although, the usual errands, classes, and meetings remain.  Perhaps, I might be able to fit in a bit PASTEL of scrap sewing.

Let's take a look at how the week progresses...

SUNDAY - During Weekly Morning Art Zoom, I knocked out the TRACE prompt...

And...

The ?? prompt for ICAD:

MONDAY - Art Day

At this week's Library Crawl over on Get Messy, I made this journal page using the NATURE pattern prompt instead of the fire prompt that most attendees were inspired by:

In the late afternoon I met with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for our Weekly Zoom Call:

After dinner I headed up for this month's (Virtual) Quilt Guild meeting.  Tonight's speaker was Diane Harris from Stash Bandit Quilts:

TUESDAY - Stay at Home Day

This afternoon, I enjoyed working alongside my Tuesday Explorers friends at Get Messy.  The SERENE prompt for ICAD drew my attention for the day's efforts...

Before tackling the CHARM prompt:

WEDNESDAY - Art Day

I headed up to the studio before lunch to do some art at Midweek Meetup.  The CROSSROADS prompt for ICAD was what drew me today for this personal card depicting a special place from my childhood:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group met at Lynda's today.  I ended up staying home.

After a slow start, I did some quilting on my orange project from last month's RSC efforts:

Britt and I managed an ARTventure via Zoom after lunch:

On my way out the door for our evening walk on Tuesday I remembered that our neighbors have a fig tree in their yard.  I stopped by to ask if I could take a few leaves and here is the result after adding a gold outline to my FIG gel print today:

This is the card I made with the LUCKY prompt for ICAD in mind.  Lucky dog:

FRIDAY - Knit Group met at Beth's house.  It ended up just the two of us today:

After a stop at the grocery store and a quick snack, I stopped by Get Messy's Friday Friends Open Studio.  late, but got a start on the GLOSSY prompt for ICAD:

After dinner, I headed back upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  I cut words letters and images from a stack of magazines.  No photo of the mess that ensued.

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you had a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  Once again, I was a bit late to the party.

Why, Joyful???

This morning I headed out to our Guild's Boutique Workday.  These two bee mates were also in attendance:

Thanks for the photo op, Marianne and Karen!  Please note the rainbow spools shirt worn in honor of my RSC Quilter friends today.

I finished off the bag I started at last week's Sew Day along with two projects made from the scraps.  Here I am with my completed bag, bowl cozy, and foot pedal stopper:

What about the PASTEL scraps???

A few PASTEL bits on the design floor comprise the sum total of my scrappy efforts for the week.  I'm pleased with the direction of this project.  There was no stitching involved, but that will SHOULD happen soon enough:

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday (on a Sunday) - RSC26 - Week 25

Welcome to Week 25 of the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week promises to be a bit less chaotic.  Although, the usual errands, classes, and meetings remain.  Perhaps, I might be able to fit in a bit PASTEL of scrap sewing.

Before we jump into how the week unfolded, let me share yesterday's Midmonth Gathering at Get Messy....

Linden Eller presented a short lesson and this is the journal page I made:

SUNDAY -
During Weekly Morning Art Zoom
, I worked on the CRANE prompt for ICAD using an images from a child's dictionary.

MONDAY - Art Day

I stopped to attend this week's Library Crawl at Get Messy, but it was canceled.  :o((

I went downstairs to grab a cup of tea before my Weekly Zoom Call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

TUESDAY - Errand Day

After picking up a last minute grocery order, I enjoyed visiting with the Tuesday Explorers at Get Messy.  My TYPE card for ICAD was the result of the day's efforts:

WEDNESDAY - Art Day

I attended Midweek Meetup and searched for the perfect magazine images to complete the MOON prompt for the Index-Card-a-Day challenge:

Next came Watercolor Zoom with Belinda:

Today, I worked on this little line and wash floral:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group met at Britt's today, but I brought the snacks, as we were supposed to be at my house.  After lunch we worked on our ICAD prompts.  I completed a card for the MAGNOLIA prompt...

Here we are with the card that Britt put together and my SEAHORSE card:

FRIDAY - Knit Group met at 1928 Mill House Coffee today:

After a stop at the grocery store and a convoluted trip home due to traffic challenges, I arrived at Get Messy's Friday Friends Open Studio.  Today I used a page from a map book as the background for a magazine image to interpret the COASTLINE prompt for ICAD:

I also added ransom note letters along with paint to my page created for the LIGHT prompt from Messy May.  This was done to help the chandelier pop:

After dinner, I headed back upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  I used collage scraps and the piece of flocked gift wrap that Britt gave me yesterday to interpret the VELVET prompt for ICAD:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you have a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

I was late to the party since I spent the day with these lovely quilters:

One of the three projects I took to the Sew Day included a few PASTEL scraps in Light Blue.  I'm working toward completing this UFO quilt by the end of the month:

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC26 - Week 24

Welcome to Week 24 of the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week is going to be another full one.  Guest prep. errands, classes, and meetings are scheduled.  The question remains...  Will I be able to fit in any PASTEL  scrap sewing???

Only time will tell, but here is how my days passed...

SUNDAY -
During Weekly Morning Art Zoom
, I worked on my POMEGRANATE prompt for ICAD using an image from my car's tissue cylinder.  The color was scribbled beneath the tissue paper used for the tracing with two types of crayon:

In neighborhood news...

New neighbors moved in yesterday:

MONDAYSerious Guest Prep

I stopped to attend this week's Library Crawl at Get Messy.  Today we went back to the Season of Promise with the 3-2-1 Challenge from Dayle Bennett.  Here is the resulting journal page made using 3 colors, 2 words, and 1 image:

When that was done, I went downstairs to grab a cup of tea before my Weekly Zoom Call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

TUESDAY - Final Guest Prep

After picking up a last minute grocery order, I spent some time with my Tuesday Explorer friends at Get Messy while waiting for our guests to arrive.  My YEARBOOK card for ICAD was the result of the day's efforts:

WEDNESDAYShopping Day

I missed Midweek Meetup, in favor of going shopping with my SIL:

In neighborhoods news...

Schools out!  You know what that means? More new neighbors moved in today:

A while later...

Two additional trucks rolled in down the street from us with more new neighbors:

Before the rains came...

There was a bit of brotherly bonding:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group met at Cheryl's today, without me, as our visitors weren't leaving until mid afternoon:

After a relaxing cup of tea, I headed up to the studio where Britt and I...

Enjoyed a Zoom-y ARTventure.  Today we worked on ICAD.  My focus was on adding the MIXED MEDIA theme to my weekly prompt card:

FRIDAY - Knit Group

When it was time to leave, I grabbed a bite to eat before Get Messy's Friday Friends Open Studio.  Today I altered a book image for the PARTERRE prompt for ICAD:

During the late afternoon, I returned to the studio to work on this month's Get Messy lesson:

After dinner, I headed back upstairs to visit with my Weekly Evening Art Zoom friends.  I decided to work on the FACES prompt for Messy May that I skipped last month.  I probably should have started with a pencil sketch, but opted to jump right in with my Tombow markers - swatch added in the top left:

My apologies to the Harper's Bazaar model!  I didn't intend to make her look like she has the mumps.  Please know that after the photo was taken, I plumped up her lips a little.

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you have a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

To answer the question at the beginning of this post...

YES and NO!!

What I did with PASTEL scraps in Light Blue, Light Pink and/or Light Green this week was get out this UFO quilt to contemplate a path to finishing it.  Sorry!  Nothing yet, but here's a peek at the project in its partially completed state:

Until next time...
