Wonderful Wednesday - Sweet Kisses - A Winter 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club Finish

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  I'm here to share my first UFO finish of 2026.  I completed the following quilt top back in October 2024 during a Quilt Retreat at Laurel Ridge.  This is the story of its finishing.

If you're in the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry you may have already seen it, but here's the story of my Sweet Kisses Quilt from Gigi's Thimble...

This quilt waited a more than a year for quilting.  Over Thanksgiving, I shopped my stash for an appropriate backing fabric:

Looks good, right???

It's colorful, it was a large enough cut, AND... Britt had acted as my personal shopper at one of the Pineapple Warehouse Sales when the fabric was purchased.  I don't recall what quilt I had in mind when I had her buy it for me, but since she made the blocks AND would eventually quilt this quilt, it seemed perfect that she was the one who made the purchase for me, too.  (So no one thinks it was a gift, I paid her back when she delivered the fabric.)

I feel SEW lucky to have such a good friend!!

She actually provided the blocks during a swap that we did a few years back.  I made HSTs for her and DEFINITELY think that I got the better end of the bargain!

I had Britt quilt it last month, as I had hoped that it would be my final UFO finish of 2025.  Here we are in her quilt studio after our Quilt Bee's Holiday Potluck...

I'm pleased with the panto we decided to use for the quilting:

Only a few steps left!!!

A day or so later, Britt texted for me to check the corners because the tension was acting up on her longarm and she was worried that it had been that way prior to finishing the last bit of quilting.  False alarm!  However, since I had the quilt on the floor, I decided to go ahead and square up the edges:

Here it is all laid out:

A week into the new year I prepared the binding that I should have made two weeks ago:

And...

Late this afternoon, as the sky was beginning to darken, I finished sewing down that binding.  Here is the completed quilt in my traditional porch swing photo:

I'm SEW glad to get this collaborative quilt done... Even though is wasn't completed during my self-appointed RAINBOW month for the RSC last month!  It would have been nice to average one UFO finish per month for 2025, but I'm pleased to have a fast first finish for the Winter 2026 session.

Until next time...
Mark another UFO off the list!!
