Wonderful Wednesday - Another Summer UFO Club Finish

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday here at The Joyful Quilter!!  I've been keeping a secret.  I'm here to report on another finished a project!  Not just any project, but a UFO from my Summer 2025 UFO Club list.  It's been done since Saturday afternoon.  Travel plans made it impossible to post until now.

When I was thinking of what I might like to do during PURPLE month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I immediately thought of one of the projects pieced during a not-so-recent quilt retreat:

3. Grape Candy Coated (2023)

I didn't have the time or talent to quilt this the way I wanted it done, so I phoned a friend.  Fortunately, Britt had an opening in her longarming schedule for me.

The was what I found when I arrived to pick up the quilt...

Blurry photo, but the quilt turned out just the way I had hoped:

A couple of days later, the quilt was squared up...

The scrappy binding has been ready since the top was assembled:

Here's a prebound photo of the front...

And the back:

The binding was applied during Friday's Weekly Evening Art Zoom and sewn down during Saturday's Monthly Reflection Workshop, as it was the only time available for the task.  (Sorry, Caylee!)  Below, you will find the quilt's porch picture.  Both the front...

~ 66" wide x 70" tall

And the back of the quilt of the super scrappy quilt:

With those done, I took the completed quilt back inside for a finished floor shot.  Front...

And the back with the binding clearly showing:

Special thanks to Britt for taking the time to quilt this beauty for me, as I wouldn't have been able to complete it this month without her help!!!  Also, thank you to Amanda Jean Nyburg formerly of Crazy Mom Quilts blog (from her book Sunday Morning Quilts co-authored with Cheryl Arkison.) This was a super fun pattern (which I may or may not have followed to the letter.  Whoops!)

Until next time...

Wonderful Wednesday - A Summer UFO Club Finish

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday here at The Joyful Quilter!!  I'm here to share some exciting news.  I finished a project!  Not just any project, but a UFO on my Summer 2025 UFO Club list.

While, it's this project's maiden voyage on the list, it felt like the "low hanging fruit" for this session.  Bonus Points...  It's PURPLE month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  :o))

The completed quilt that I'm calling Inherited Iris (2020) is shown below on our front porch swing:

Approximately 20" x 24"

Special thanks to Donna at The Bluff for starting what has finally become a completed quilt!  The rest of the story, along with more details will be shared at a later date.

Until next time...

Summer 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back to The Joyful Quilter!! The Summer 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE quilt projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on July 7, 2025.

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight (EDT) on August 31, 2025!!!

What's the plan this time, Joyful???

Same plan, different term.  My strategy is usually to list WAY more projects than I could EVER possibly finish in a single session and hope for the best! The "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation is the bare minimum, but I tend to err on the side MORE is better. I haven't changed. I'm still a bit of a moody quilter. That means I have to "be in the mood" to work on any given project! By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I have options. These choices increase the chances of finding projects that I want to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the SUMMER 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1. Double Pink & Brown BOM (??)

2. Bright Eyes (Faces Workshop 2021)

3. Grape Candy Coated (2023)   DONE!!!   7/26/25

4. DOQ Neighborhood Challenge (2023)

5. A2 Baby! (2023 - on left)

6. Bottom of the Barrel PURPLE Race Quilt (2024)

7. Like Deborah (Boschart) Only Not (2016)

8. TSC Rainbow Plus Quilt (2024)

9. Color Wheel Runner (2023)

10. QFK JRR on Steroids (2023)   DONE!!!   8/28/25

11. Sweet Kisses (2021)

12. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

13Blue and Green for Parrish (2016)

14. Aboriginal Runner (2022)

15. Stitch Studio Remix (2012)

Quilting by Diane @ Stitch Studio

16. Bottom of the Bin Topper (2024)

17. Scrap Jar Stars (2017)

18. Inherited Iris (2020)    DONE!!!   7/25/25

19. Ravelry Exchange Quilt (2009)

20. Shrunken Stars (2020)

SEW...

We'll see how many projects I can complete in a 3-month period of time. The reasoning behind the choice is that with 20 projects for the Summer 2025 UFO Club, I'm hoping that I will be lured by the "low hanging fruit" and build momentum for some additional quilting time. My goal is actually only ONE finish for the quarter. More than that is a bonus!  Perhaps, I will even remember to post each of them to the group... unlike the final finish for the last session.  Whoops!

Remember...

Wonderful Wednesday - UFO Times TWO in RED

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday)!!  I'm here to share what I did over my extended weekend.  The post title might have given you a little clue, I'm sure, but I have quite a few projects on my Spring 2025 (Ravelry) UFO Club project list.

What did you finish, Joyful???

It's RED month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

I used scrap strips and stash last year...

To make not one, but TWO Jumbo Jelly Roll Race quilts during RED month.  Here is one of those waiting to be pressed b my friend's latest steam machine:

This is one of the two quilts that I loaded on my friend Tiffany's longarm during this weekend's Mini-Retreat.  It sits in one corner of her spacious basement sewing room:

The first morning, I got up early, had breakfast and headed down to attach the binding to the quilt that I quilted the evening before:

Once that was completed, I got right to work on the next project.  The second finish was quilted in a wave pattern and is shown in the photo below:

Short Track RED Race
40" x 43"

Apparently, I was so excited about my first finish...

That I forgot to get a photo while at Tiffany's so I draped it across the rails of my longarm when I got home.  I needed to share the finishes with you and the members of the UFO Club on Ravelry.  I quilted this one with large loops, but they are hard to see from the angle the photo was taken:

The Big RED Race Quilt
40" x 47"

In the background of the photo shown above, you can see that I had (incorrectly) prepared for another Color of the Month.  With how productive I was on my Mini-Retreat, I probably should have taken it with me and been ahead of the game.  Thank you SEW much for the invitation, Tiffany!  I'm looking forward to getting together again soon and I'm pleased to have these quilts ready to donate later this month at my local quilt guild.

Until next time...
