Quilt. Eat. Repeat.
It was a LONG day...
The morning dawned bright and early. Tiffany was the first one up and at it. I decided to take a photo of where my day's progress began:
We already missed her first project of the day, but here's the second. She has caught Scrap Basket Fever:
The cutting and trimming started early, too:
Layered and quilting a Scrap Basket from the giant bag of scraps that Francine brought to share:
This is the stack of fabric that occupied Joy's morning:
Helena's layout is complete:
Subtle, but nice:
More Frolic-ing:
Britt has another block in the works:
Joy is cutting thru her white on black scraps:
Britt tried a different arrangement:
Lois is cutting for another project:
Britt's background in place:
Trouble in paradise! Alternate background being tested:
Diane is making progress on her 2nd quilt top:
Two more background options for Britt:
Denise's next quilt it underway:
Use ALL the backgrounds, Britt!! Alas, that's not how she rolls:
Joy's red strips are cut. Squares from these strips will follow:
Francine's Canine quilt is taking its turn beneath the needle:
Denise is trying to be methodical about her fabric pairings:
Tiffany moves on to her blue cutting...
... Before finishing her Quilted Scrap Basket:
Lois has her Reproduction print squares all laid out:
Joy considers fabric placement for her Sew Together Bag:
Francine's Canine blocks are up on the Sewing Room design wall:
Carol continues quilting...
... While Lois stitches block components:
Free form strip panel to be cut into sashing for Francine's quilt:
And then there were FOUR blocks of Frolic for Britt:
Here, we see Joy trying to visualize how the piecing will form the sections of the Sew Together Bag:
Shown above, Denise's Bionic Gear Bag with an extra pocket. |
SEW sweet!! Carol has finished her baby quilt:
Amazing! Francine is pressing her completed Canine top...
... As Joy lays out the pieces and parts of her Sew Together Bag:
Very cool design, Francine:
Britt has moved on to agonizing over the sashing sections:
Joy does some stitching on an unidentified project:
Britt tries aqua...
... Then raspberry...
... Then auditions a combination of the two:
Whoops!! Apparently, Joy abandoned needle and thread for another piece of Tiffany's Instant Pot Chocolate Cheesecake:
Britt continues with design decisions:
SEW many pairs of HSTs! Tiffany is happily using the Essential Triangle ruler that Joy brought to share:
Denise is trimming up HSTs for another of her many projects:
Oh, wow! What a dynamic quilt top, Francine is working on now:
Blocks are being added to Denise's collection:
Britt works on a New Shoots block for Joy's collection to send off to Australia for Fire Relief quilts:
Carol is starting a new quilt built around this panel...
... Using the layout of this quilt:
Francine stitches binding, while telling us about her dinner plans:
Britt is attaching leaf after leaf to her background fabric:
Joy couldn't take seeing Britt's unbound Thread Catcher...
... SEW... She found a scrap strip and finished it off:
Meanwhile, Britt completed her contribution for #bushfireblocks and was "guilted" into adding a binding to her (formerly) unbound Quilted Scrap Basket:
Completed baskets for the WIN:
Smile, you two! Joy is taking an "us-ie", as opposed to a selfie:
Joy has ALL of the squares cut for her next Pecking Order quilt...
... But first, there was another unbound basket to finish! Tiffany is the lucky one this time:
After dinner, Joy gets busy "snowball-ing" corners...
... White on black prints followed by black on white prints:
Look at this sweet block that Lois made:
Everyone had a wonderfully productive day. SEW productive, in fact, that more people are inquiring about our next retreat.
Until next time...
The fun continues!!!
I'm expecting an invitation! As you know a TOALT kept me away this time.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I can't believe how much everyone got accomplished.
ReplyDeleteSo much creativity in one room!!! Someone had a problem with the unbound baskets?? How does that even happen?? LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing everyone's progress... it makes for fun reading! (http://karensquiltsfromcapetown.blogspot.com/)
ReplyDeleteThese retreat posts are always a bit dangerous for me. They add to my already huge, groaning list of quilts I want to make!!
