ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC10 - Week 40

Welcome to Week 40 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Along about Thursday, the RSC Quilters will transition away from working with their RED fabric scraps to a new Color of the Month.

Here's how my week progressed...

SUNDAYToday's creative efforts were directed toward sewing up my RED quilted basket panel:

I released a new edition of Sew Some Love.  You can find it HERE.

(Though NOT an easy task for me...) Fabrics were chosen and cut to size for September's Scrap Buster Challenge block:

The time has come for a BIG announcement!

Mr. Random has spoken.  The WINNER of my Hello Fall Blog Hop prize is Nancy @ Patchwork Breeze.  Congratulations, Nancy!!!

MONDAY - Today's edition of Mini Monday went live this morning.  You'll find more details about last week's Quilted Cake Mini:

I took a few minutes to put my RED Scrap Buster Challenge block together for the RSC:

TUESDAY - I'm pleased to share my latest Tidy-Up Tuesday post.  Here is a sneak peek at what you'll see.  This J. Crew shirt found a higher purpose in my latest scrap project:

This afternoon, I got busy on my friend Candy's quilt:

Things were going well, until I forgot to check the pattern alignment after rolling the quilt.  I guess no one is surprised the the seam ripper was employed at this juncture:

This evening, I enjoyed spending some time with members of my Evening Quilt Bee:

WEDNESDAY - A new edition of Wonderful Wednesday was released today.  I posted another Summer 2020 (Ravelry) UFO Club finish.  It is also my final RED finish to report for the month of  September for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

I quilted in the early afternoon, until this happened:

At that point, I decided that it was time for a break, which turned out to be a great idea!  Because... Not long after, it was time to set up for my weekly Quilt Chat with Lee Anna on Zoom:

After dinner, I finished another RED project for the RSC.  It's a palm-sized pin cushion stuffed with fabric scraps and play sand:

Here's another photo in the light of day with the last Blackeyed Susan remaining in the garden...

... And with the very last of the "immortal" white iris:

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE met this morning.  Here I am, waiting to be admitted to the meeting:

Later, I captured this group photo to share with those members who couldn't be with us today:

Happy October, everyone!!  It's Transition Day at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  There hasn't been an "official" announcement, but I feel certain that the new Color of the Month is...

YELLOW

In case anyone had any doubt, I just MIGHT have enough scraps to keep me busy this month!  This a a Jumbo Quilted Scrap Basket in YELLOW.  It's overflowing and it has friends - 2 gallon sized plastic bags, also filled to the brim:

It's been a busy week here on the blog!  Early this afternoon, I released the Summer 2020 (Raverly) UFO Club - The Results post.  Follow this LINK to learn the details.

Today's other BIG news...

My Hello Fall Blog Hop project was featured at My Quilt Infatuation in this week's Needle and Thread Thursday post.  I'm SEW excited!!!  Kelly chose my Petite Pumpkin quilt to be among the 4 highlighted from last week's 25 link-up entries.

Check out the new button over at the top of my sidebar!  :o))

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT didn't happen today, as Cindy is at the beach and no one ended up asking about it.

I actually waited to say hello (before remembering that there had been no discussion) and then raced across town to G's Quilt and Craft Retreat.  Members of my Sew/Crafty Friends-zy group will be quilting the weekend away.  (SEW sorry, Diane and Francine, we'll keep you in mind for next time!!!)

My friends and I started talking about the Bee/Sew Crafty Quilt Retreat 2 before the pandemic hit.  Once Covid-19 restrictions went into effect, I wasn't sure that we would end up going through with it.  As restrictions began to lift, we decided to go ahead with the retreat, but only half of our group would be able to attend.

Proper social distancing will be observed and we will all be masked while in the common areas.  Dining will be on our own.   Ultimately, the "town girls" decided to sleep home, in order to give everyone else some breathing room, allowing for only one happy camper per room overnight.  We're hoping that's enough to keep us all safe!!

I had a productive day and even did a bit of YELLOW sewing while making the binding for my niece's baby quilt:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Obviously, since I will be at Retreat for most of the day, I won't be checking in with my RSC Quilter friends until late tonight or sometime tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of the YELLOW scrappy fun that has begun!

I'll be sewing a bit more YELLOW when I start the next step in this quilt for my nephew's baby-to-be...

I hope that you enjoy your day.  I'm going to spend mine trying to make progress on several projects.

Scrap SEW safely!!!

  8. I hope your retreat was a HUGE success! We have a single day mini retreat scheduled for the 16th, it won’t be overnight! Sew I guess it is actually just a sew day. But we haven’t met nor talked since March so it will be good! We will all bring our own lunch and share time together. I’ll report on how it went!

  9. Gosh, you've been busy! I feel for you with the seam ripping, too. I'll bet the tension on those stitches you had to rip out was just perfect, too! The only thing worse than ripping out ugly stitches is ripping out beautiful stitches that were sewn in the wrong place! :-)

  10. Another busy week on both the blogging and stitching fronts. Glad you figured out a way to have the retreat. I guess modification and mask wearing are the three magic words for any event these days.
