Scrap Happy Saturday - RSC20 - Week 31

Welcome to Week 31 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Today is the day I've been waiting for ALL WEEK.  I've been looking forward to discovering what our new color will be.  In the interim, I've been working on UFOs, projects which have been left languishing for far too long.

Come take a walk through my week...

SUNDAY - The month will end on a (Dark) BLUE note with the making of a 2" x 4" pin cushion:

MONDAY - Check out today's Mail Call Monday post.  This morning, I sewed the first miter I've done in years.  More on that later in the week:

... Later in the day, I stuffed and finished off the little pin cushion that I started last night.  This is what the back looks like:

And here is the front:

After this photo was taken, I talked on the phone with LeeAnna for a while, tidying up the studio as we talked.  I was lamenting about not being able to find the next Dark BLUE project that I wanted to work on.  She offered suggestions about where to look.

As LeeAnna asked questions about various locations and where I might have last seen the project, I became more and more frustrated that the it was still in hiding.  I sat at the sewing machine to take a little break.  As I sat down, I thought that I might as well rifle through the bin of RSC projects and other miscellaneous items (such as the basket off-cuts that I used yesterday.)

Wait a minute!!!

What's that bit of Dark BLUE?!  Don't you know that's when I found the baggie of Bonus HSTs and the accompanying pack of Mini Charms??  Playing with lovely bits these will be the PERFECT way to finish out the month:

It was within arm's reach of the sewing machine this entire time!  Hidden in plain sight, just in front of the Bonus HSTs from my Pecking Order quilt completed last summer:

TUESDAYToday, I had a visitor...

... Who came bearing gifts:

Thank you SEW much, Dee Dee!!  Now, I'll need to update yesterday's Mail Call post.  I'm happy to have a reason to do so!

Instead of jumping into scrap sorting (which is what I wanted to do!)  I worked on piecing the quilt top that I set as my goal for the day:

This evening was our Zoom-y NT Nights meeting:

WEDNESDAY - I met a couple of my knitting friends for a socially distant coffee visit this morning:

... And managed to finish off a shawl project:

And for my next trick...

I appliqued a free cut "M" on this small drawstring pouch for a little friend of mine.  It even has a Dark BLUE string on it, as a nod to July's Color of the Month:

Late this afternoon, brought this week's Zoom call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

I also released a new Wonderful Wednesday post.

THURSDAY - Good morning, Quilters!  It's ZoomBEE day:

This evening, I discovered that Rebecca @ Cheeky Cognoscenti followed thru with her plans to start up her Long Arm Learning Linky Party, beginning Tuesday, August 4th:

FRIDAY - This week's ZoomKNIT meeting occupied my morning:

This afternoon, I posted a new edition of Design Floor Friday.  Here's a glimpse of what you will see, if you didn't get a chance to visit before now:

SATURDAY - Another week has rolled by.  Do YOU know what that means?  Around here, it means that it's LINK PARTY day!!  Head on over to Angela's So Scrappy blog to see what August's Color of the Month will be.  I'll be along momentarily.  I need to take down the Dark BLUE pieces from the Gallery Wire:

My own hand dye quilted with variegated thread:

A mini quilt (made earlier this year) named Floral Bingo and a Mug Rug Swap from Chantal @ At the Corner of Scrap and Quilts:

2nd Grand Prize from a Blog Hop and a woven fabric art piece that I made years ago:

Here's a closer look at Melissa Corry's Bitty Bits quilt...

From this book the making of her Irish Chain Quilts book:

Angela released August's color announcement.  The new Color of the Month is...

PURPLE!!!!

Hmm...  Off to see how many PURPLE mini quilts I have available to grace the Gallery Wire in my studio.  (I may have to make one or two for this month's challenge!)

Until next time...
Scrap SEW safely!!

  2. Love that rectangular dark blue pincushion you made! I think I'd like to make one that shape to set in front of my sewing machine. The new start with blue and yellow squares looks intriguing, too!

  7. I always knew you and Zoom would take to each other! 8)
(Compared to your zooming around, I look positively glacial...)
Your gallery wire is such a wonderful idea!

  8. I've done that before: put something "away" and then can't find it. Sometimes I've actually put it where it was supposed to be, other times I've put it where it seemed logical when I put it there but made no sense when I was searching for it later. I was grateful to have found a pattern the other day that I'd been looking for for a few weeks. I don't need it yet but will need it in a few weeks or next month! So glad you found you triangles and squares.

I think you are an extrovert! If so, this pandemic must be hard. And you have lots of great things on the go!

  9. I had a wonderful "gallery" wire in our previous home. Not sure where I can put one now. Bummer.
