ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of the 2018 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This is how my week went...

SUNDAY - Mt. Washmore was first on the task list for today.  There was so much laundry that there wasn't time for much else.

MONDAY - Knit Group was followed by grocery shopping, which was followed by some computer time.  I released my Mystery Monday Link-Up POST and visited a good number of the links posted on Bonnie's BLOG.  There are some pretty amazing interpretations of the On Ringo Lake mystery quilt!

While making the rounds around BlogLand, I found the following photo and just had to share it!  It totally fits the fabric shopper in me (and perhaps the fabric shopper in YOU, too.)

Grammie Q currently has this cute header on her blog:

TUESDAY - It was a stay-at-home day (well... except for a quick trip to the bank !) The quilt on the frame got the soup can treatment today,  What?!  You heard me right.  Soup cans and quilts sometimes mix:

I also released my inaugural Scrap Attack Tuesday post and got right to work on a project.  It was a happy day!

WEDNESDAY - Another stay-at-home day. Can anyone guess what I did with my time??  It involves a quilt and  a longarm quilting machine.  If you guessed that I finished quilting That 80's Quilt... you would be right, but we'll save that for another post.  In the meantime, you can see how shopping benefits the quilting process.  Look for the plastic shopping bags in THIS photo:

Shoving the bags under the take-up bar is a trick from the internet.

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group met today. We missed last week because of the snow.  I took along my Like Deborah (Boscart) But Not quilt, but didn't get very far:

I chose threads that blended with the fabric (since I haven't done any embroidery in AGES!!!)

FRIDAY - Sweater Class had an unexpected outcome today.  I stated the short rows and found that the yarn for the body is NOT suitable for the shawl section.  Have a look for yourself:

After a trip to the grocery store, I did a bit of sewing.  Watch for more about that in next Tuesday's Scrap Attack post.  LINK will be provided in a few days.  I will show you a few of the BLUE scraps that I will be working with during the remaining days of January:

SATURDAY - That brings us to the second LINK PARTY of the year.  Check out all the BLUE projects from this week's RSC sewing by clicking on the words LINK PARTY above.  I'm on my way there now.  Prepare to be amazed.

Once I've visited the other RSC Quilters, I'm headed up to see if I can find a replacement yarn for the body of my sweater project somewhere in the stash.  That pink is just WRONG!!

Note to self: Make sure you have ALL the yarn with you when making additional selections for a large knitting project.

Until next time...
Get Scrappy!!!

  1. Busy lady! I could probably Google, but I'm just gonna ask...what is the "soup can treatment" and what is this with the plastic bags on the take-up roller? As a longarmer, these intrigue me...

  3. So many thing son the go - I really like the mug, this would make a great gift for some of my friends. You have some pretty blues to play with there, I've decided to take part in the RSC sampler this year.

  4. Fabricologist, eh? That's IT! Thank you! (And Grammie Q)
Not a long-armer, so am baffled by the soup cans and shopping bags...

  5. Shall we call you Dr. Joyful now that you have a degree in Fabricology? lol. There's nothing like a good Campbell soup to help you along your day. Although, up here in Canada, we prefer it hot, just saying. Lol. ;^D

  6. Mt. Washmore... I know that well. Fun with words! I don't know the plastic bag OR the soup can trick! I need to snoop the internet for those. You have me wondering. Can't wait to see the 80's Quilt finish!

  9. Wait, I'm confused - what do the soup cans and bags accomplish?

  11. We are all Fabricologist! Just love that! I haven't heard of the soup cans and plastic bag trick. I take it that quilt isn't flat. Do you run into the cans or do they stay out of your way?

  12. Wow, I can't believe how much you have achieved in a week! I love the mug too. Thanks for visiting my blog and your kind comment. The first quilt of the year is always a special one.
Kind regards from the UK, no snow here in Lincolnshire,
    Sue

  13. I'll have to give that soup can treatment a try! I've used batting scraps under the take up bar from time to time, especially on bigger quilts. Love your projects.
