Sew It, Show It - Say What?! - My Hop STOP

Welcome to My STOP for the "Sew - It, Show - It" Challenge: Say What?! Blog Hop!!  For this event our hostess is Joan @ Moose Stash Quilting.  When I found out this month's prompt I just HAD to join this challenge.

This was what she had to say about this month's challenge:

You can share a story, or show us a project or technique that you can't believe you tried. Or how about a quilty word project.
There are so many different ways you can interpret this hop.

I was SEW excited!!!

This Blog Hop gave me an opportunity create a new quilt to add to my Words and Phrases series.  You can see all of those mini quilts HERE.

First up???

Deciding what to say.  I put on my thinking cap (and checked the link above.)  That led me to the WORD for my quilt.

Next up...

Choosing fabric.  That was easy!  It's PURPLE month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

Then came free cutting the letters for the word I selected:

The colors are true in the fabric selection photo.

What's next, Joyful???

A practice run of my free-motion writing...

Boy, was I ever rusty at sizing down to fit the space!!

Was followed by the real deal, but this time I did the "writing" BEFORE adding my word:

It reads:  Stitching together beautiful friendships.

But...

In the photo below you can see that I pre-quilted the background this time.  Not my standard course of action, but I wanted to try something different this time:

Then came stitching down the free-cut letters:

Once that was finished, and the binding was applied, I thought I was done:

It looks done, doesn't it?  See!  Here it is on the front porch swing:

Well...

Apparently, the quilt wasn't complete without the period at the end of the word THREAD:

Here's the week's line up:

Thanks for those of you who have read through to the end!  Your reward??  YOU have a chance to win a prize.  It's a thing I like to do with each Blog Hop that I participate in.

In order to get your name in the PRIZE DRAWING...

Choose among the following prize options and ADD that to your COMMENT below!!!  What would YOUR choice be???  Mug Rug, pin cushion, or quilted thread catcher?

PLEASE NOTE:  The chosen item in no way affects your chances to win!  One lucky reader will be able to select their favorite color for their prize.  The item will be made with my scraps in that color.  Don't worry!  My scrap stash is fairly deep.  I have scraps in EVERY color of the rainbow.

The winner will be chosen on SUNDAY, April 23, 2023 @ 9PM (EDT).
**Please make sure that your email address is included in your comment, if you are a "No Reply Blogger", as I will need to be able to reach you if your name is pulled.

The Drawing is now CLOSED!!!

Congratulations to Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing!  She has been contacted and I will soon be busy making her PURPLE and/or teal quilted thread catcher.

Until next time...

  5. Sweet quilt. I don't think I could write with the sewing machine as neat as you. My letters would be all over and not in a straight line.

  6. "Thread" is so fun, Joy! I'm amazed that you can sew in cursive. I love your whole series of word minis - do you display them together somewhere? Thanks for the giveaway - you know my favorite things are mini - like mug rugs!

  12. I like the word you chose. Purple is the colour of April so that goes without saying, but the little phrase at the bottom is SO sweet. I LOVE it! It's so important to read the small print. Big messages are conveyed in small prints. Bravo! ;^)
