It took me a week to work my way around to choosing fabrics. I started with the print shown below...
... And built a palette around it...
Then some editing took place:
The fabrics that weren't quite right for the front may or may not work for borders, backing, or binding. The verdict is still out on these selections:
The focal fabric, along with some (or all) of the coordinates, came in a scrap bag from a friend. If I had to guess, I'm imagining it was Ella:
Once the fabrics had been selected, I got right to work on the cutting:
I made it as far as piecing the strip sets before time to cook dinner:
The next afternoon, I pieced the blocks:
In short order, the blocks for my abbreviated (4-block) version of Preeti's pattern were ready to assemble into a quilt top:
A week went by while I finished up my Guild Challenge quilt, but then the quilt top was complete:
However...
Another week had passed before I could focus on getting my small Masala Box quilt top basted...
... And (minimally) quilted:
That was LAST NIGHT, but my little quilt is DONE:
My schedule was full today, so the photo session (and this post) had to wait until I got home from my appointments. Have a look at the photo dump, as I'm off to cook dinner... AGAIN!!
Approximately 24" square.
The soft sage green colors (October's RSC Color of the Month is Light/Bright GREEN) were really difficult to photograph, but the quilt was an absolute SNAP to make - even though it took me THREE weeks to complete the process:

Did anyone catch the misspelling of the pattern name before I changed it to the correct spelling? I've had A day, OK! Sorry, Preeti!!!! (It may also speak to just how little Indian cuisine I consume.)
This project was on my Fall 2021 (Ravelry) UFO Club list. Though I ended up cutting other scraps than I started with, it still counts towards the group stats. Yay!!
And, since it was an informal Blog Hop, I wasn't sure that there would be a prize, but Preeti has offered a FREE pattern to ONE LUCKY WINNER!!! I will draw the winner on Tuesday, October 26th @ noon (EDT.) Please make sure to add your email address to your comment, if you are a No Reply blogger. Special thanks to Preeti for sponsoring this prize!!
