Sew Some Love Sunday - Thomas is Back(ed)

Welcome to this week's edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  I'll make this short and sweet.  I should have shared this last week, but didn't get around to doing a post.  Needleb constructed a backing for our Quilt Group's Thomas Fire relief quilt from fabric found deep within her stash:

It may be old, but it was almost the right size and it works perfectly with our blue and white quilt top:

Next up?  The wait for the longarmer's schedule to open up.  Thank's to Cheryl at C. Breeze Quilt Studio for volunteering to do the quilting!

Once the quilting is done, volunteers are in place to bind and mail the completed quilt.  Gotta LOVE a group of team players!  :o))

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 10

Welcome to Week 10 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  I am SEW happy that the Color of the Month is GREEN!!

Sunday - I thought I'd start with the work that was done yesterday morning.  NeedleB appears to have gotten the memo about the NEW Color of the Month:

MONDAY - Got mail???  Nope!!  Not today.  Well, except for the stack of bills that I wrote out and have ready to mail off.  Yep.  I'm "old school" like that.  What can you do?!

While I was up in the studio, I did a bit of catching up on Libby's Mystery.  Sewing Clue 2's rail units:

WEDNESDAY - What??  Well, a couple of hours of relaxing sewing with Needleb.  I finished the quilting on my PURPLE scrap basket (that I had hoped to complete last month.)  Better late than never, I would say!

I did manage to quilt one row on my February Scrap Attack goal.  Don't look too close!!  I'm practicing with my new Skullet ruler purchased at Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival.  My motto is DONE is better than PERFECT:

FRIDAY - It's a great way to end the week or start the weekend.  Quilting at Needleb's for an hour or so, that is!  In Wednesday's entry, I shared the quilted basket panels.  This afternoon, the basket was ready for binding:

Libby of Hillside Quilter released Clue 3 of her Magical Mystery.  I wonder how long it will take me to get this one done?  Oh, the challenges of SEW many projects and SO little time!!

SATURDAY - How on Earth can it POSSIBLY be LINK PARTY day, again?!?!  Well... it is, so we better head over to Angela's So Scrappy blog to see what the other RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  You may see a mess of LIGHT/BRIGHT GREEN.

That's "mess" in a good way.  As in a whole lot of lime green goodness.  Here is the contents of a bag that was stashed away:

Wonderful Wednesday - Just Like Old Times

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  My old Quilt Bee from my last home town used to meet every week.  We would begin sewing in the morning, break for lunch, and then sew all afternoon.  It was a very productive time for us all.

Well, we moved away and the friends stopped sewing together... until recently.  Several of us decided that our weekly group should meet up once a month to sew.  It felt good to be together, again!  This month, we made a point to invite another old friend.  It was just like old times.

Here is how the day went...

Scrap Attack Tuesday - March Job Pull

Thanks to the quilters who inspired my Scrap Attack goal list, I'm adding this project from my secondary list, in case I have extra time or enthusiasm in any given month:

6. Make something with gifted scraps like Sharon.

Those are the scraps from Sandy.  (Thanks again!!)  I've made a Quilted Yarn Bowl out of them, but realized that I'm just not done with them yet.  There are MORE items waiting to be made from Sandy's cast offs.  SEW much more!!  :o))

I'm just glad that the scrap gods smiled on me by giving me a fairly easy task assignment this month!!

Why, Joyful???

Because I've also got a UFO to complete before the beginning of April.  I can't very well attend a family wedding without bringing a quilt along for the gift!!!  What kind of aunt would that make me?!  Especially, when the bride and groom requested one.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 9

Welcome to Week 9 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  It's transition week at the RSC.  We start with PURPLE:

... And end with Angela's pick for March.  I'm not sure how sewing fits in my plans, but I'll do the best I can!  I want to choose quilting thread for the PURPLE basket that I'm working on.  They say that lime green is a neutral.  I'm not convinced!!

Anyway... Care to take a look at how my week progressed???

SUNDAY - I slept late and then caught up on computer work, while tackling Mt. Washmore.

MONDAY - Released this week's edition of Mail Call Monday.  Check out the overstuffed Flat Rate Priority Envelope I received:

TUESDAY - This evening, I attended my Monthly Quilt Group.  We weren't at the Hillsborough Library this month (won't be there next month, either.)  Special thanks to Sharon at K's Closet, 200 N. Churton St., Hillsborough, NC for making your classroom available for our quilt meeting!!  She even posted an event on her Facebook page to share the news about our gathering, which is open to the public.  Nothing better than sharing the love of quilting!!!

WEDNESDAY - Early appointment at APQS Raleigh... since I missed this month's Owner's Group meeting.  After a quick visit, I was on my way!

Off to meet-up with longtime friends for a day of sewing fun.  :o))

Today was an exciting day in BlogLand!  Sandra released Step #2 of the Postcard QAL.  Alycia released Clue #3 of The Patriot Mystery.  As if that wasn't enough, I released this week's edition of Wonderful Wednesday.

THURSDAY - This morning, I posted my Scrap Attack report from February.  Can you BELIEVE it's already March?!?!

After a long day, it was a comfort to attend Knit Dinner with friends, since I can no longer attend our weekly Knit Group...  How nice is it that they offered to meet on the occasional evening?!

FRIDAY - I found that Angela posted the new Color of the Month.  You can read about it HERE, but would you like a spoiler?  March's color is one of my favorites!  Wait for it.  Wait for it...

Scrap Attack - February Mission Accomplished

Welcome to another edition of Scrap Attack Tuesday!!  OK, so I posted it on Thursday.  Whatever!!  This month, I was faced with one hard task and one harder task.  Here is a reminder of February's challenge...

I took the quilt out of the cabinet.

I even found a quilt back for it.

Bonus points:  It's recycled!!

How would you define Mission Accomplished???

Top and backing have been "airing" on the quilt frame:

Do we have to mention JUST how long it's been airing?!?!

So, MAYBE it's been weeks.  The point is...

It's loaded AND basted...

... Therefore, I'm calling it a WIN!!

That was the first goal.  The next was...

If I have extra time:

1. Give away a big bag of scraps like Sarah!

CHECK!!!

I didn't just give the scraps away.  I donated them to my local Quilt Guild for their Silent Auction.  They left my sewing room AND raised money for a good cause.  Win-win!!

Thank you again, Sarah, for issuing a challenge to encourage us all to take another look at our scrap stash!  I don't know about anyone else, but this is JUST what I needed to clear some more of my scraps from my studio shelves.
