September 2022 - TABLE SCRAPS Challenge - Link Party

Welcome to the September 2022 edition of the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge here at the Joyful Quilter!!  Thanks for stopping by to see what participants have made this month.  I'll kick things off with what I made from the quilted scrap shown below:

I host this challenge in conjunction with Angela's (RSC) Rainbow Scrap Challenge @ So Scrappy.  It's been SEW much fun to offer the...

Button credit to Susan @ Desert Sky Quilts, updated by me.

Since basically ANY small quilted item qualifies for this challenge, I scrounge through my scrap basket to see what I can come up with.

Each month I offer a prompt to help get your creative juices flowing.  While you are NOT required to use it in your project, the guiding word is revealed at the end of each month's LINK PARTY post.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see August's focus.  It, along with the RSC Color of the Month (as soon as Angela releases it - around the 1st of the month) will also be added to the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page at the top of the blog.

September's theme was...

PUMPKIN(S)

Here's what I did with that...

The Color of the Month was Light BLUE checked my scrap basket to see what I might find to inspire me:

A big, fat NOTHING caught my attention!  However, this was hanging out on the sewing table...

What did you make, Joyful???

A mug rug, of course, thanks to the pre-sewn strip sets from my friend Diane:

Here's the completed project shown on the arm of our living room sofa...

And an even better shot on the porch swing:

I had planned to add pumpkins to my mug rug and now I can't bend over to get the pumpkin fabric, but I realized that it's totally OK because I've got pumpkin colored fabric in my entry.

Spoiler Alert!!!

I had surgery yesterday...

... And forgot something important!!

Even though my phone gave me a reminder, I neglected to release this Link Party post at the normal time.  My apologies.  I'm hoping you all will forgive me and you've got Deb @ Happy to be Scrappy to thank for the reminder.  Otherwise, I'm not sure WHEN the post would have been released!

What's next, Joyful???

October arrives next weekend.  I believe Angela said that the new Color of the Month will be Light GREEN.  Don't quote me on that, but I'll be sure to post it when I know for certain.  Until then...

October's theme is:

JOYFUL

NOTE:  It is a completely FREE prompt.  Make something that makes you happy or something that expresses happiness (or reminds you of something I would do) and please be sure to tell us how your project fits the theme!  Angela announced LIME or Light GREEN/Light Neutrals for October.  (I updated the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge tab at the top of my blog as soon as was formally announced.)

And now...

It's time for YOU to link up your Light BLUE and/or Pumpkin project in the LINK PARTY below.  All entries MUST be submitted by Monday, October 3rd @ 11:59PM (EDT).  (Sorry for the confusion about the dates.  I blame it on post-surgical pain killers!  You've got a few extra days.)

Until next time...
USE those table scraps!!!

  2. I hope you are healing! ❤️‍🩹 The gauzy patch the doctor uses always makes it look awful! At last, that is my experience. I love your happy blue t-shirt! You know you are a blogger influencer! I saw it first last spring on your blog and had to have one too! 🙂

Your interpretation of blue and pumpkin is “Pure Joyful”! Love it!

  3. Oh that trip to the dermatologist - no fun! But a cute picture of you, in spite of the bandage. I love your little mug rug - great colors and fun quilting, too. Wishing you quick healing!

  4. Sorry for the surgery. The first 24 hours are the worst, then the pain gets tolerable. Hope it heals fast and well. You made me laugh with the big, fat nothing catching your attention. Not even letting the pain dull your sunshine. I love you for it. Don't change. Take care, dear. ;^)

  6. Hope you are healing up quickly from that surgery. I love your prompt to work on something that makes us joyful. I have a couple of projects in the wings that meet that goal, and one I've already started.

  7. Surgery? Oh, drat! I hope you mend fast! That's a cute and cheerful little mug rug. Love the colors together, definitely like a September sky and pumpkins.

  9. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Joy! Another month slipped by and I didn't get in on the table scraps challenge. It's still fun to visit and see what the other regulars did. ~~Kathy S.
