ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 38

Welcome to Week 38 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, you just MIGHT see some scrappy sewing here on the blog.  Can you believe it?!

Just when you were beginning to think that I had stopped sewing completely...

SUNDAY - Preparing a backing for (one of) the next UFO quilts:

LOOK!!  There are Light BLUE scraps in it, RSC Quilters!!

My weekly Zoom call with Knittingsuek went long today.  We had a wonderful chat:

Later in the afternoon, I watched the Global Quilt Connection's All-Star Sampler Platter videos.  These can be accessed as an individual or through your Quilt Guild:

MONDAY - My day was filled with gelli printing...

Work and...

The Guild Challenge reveal.  My entry is on the far left:

TUESDAY - Today was another work day, but I like to do something art-y before I go.  Today's prompt for the #abcprintingchallenge was THREAD, so I pulled a length of top and bobbin thread from the sewing machine to lay on my gel plate:

Work without Wordle two days in a row?  Certainly not!  I very nearly lost...

Same with Quordle.  I really didn't think I would be able to figure it out:

Layers of circles and dots on the gel plate today.  The prompt was UPCYCLE and you'll see wine cork circles and drywall tape dots:

Zooming with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color was the day's highlight:

Multi-tasking during our call, I managed to use the British spelling of the day's #artjournalinseptember STENCILING prompt.  WHAT?!  Whatever...

THURSDAY - No Weekly Quilt Group for me!  I was up at the crack of dawn to head to Chapel Hill for surgery.  The sun was barely up when I arrived:

And then this happened:

A building evacuation is one way to break the tension!  I took it as an opportunity to art - not very well, since I was standing on the edge of the road with the card propped on a book held in my non-dominant hand as I drew the image below:

Check tomorrow's entry to see what happened with this attempt at an image transfer when I could no longer stay away from the studio this evening:

Knit Group met without me, as I wasn't up for visiting, but I did a bit of sewing...

... And removed yesterday's compression bandage to reveal the layer beneath.  The redness on my cheek in the photo is due to the pull of the tape, but that went away in a short while:

What became of the image transfer from yesterday???

Here's what I did with the splotchy (failed) attempt on the right:

Remind me NOT to use that THREADS magazine anymore!!

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  She managed to get the party started in the midst if storm prep.  Send good wishes her way, everyone!

Until next time...

  1. your surgery results look great! You're good at rolling with the punches
I thought table scraps was last Friday of the month so I missed putting my quilt in my post.

  2. Your visit to Chapel Hill was probably not the highlight of the week, but it's good to get that kind of thing over with. It's great that you found time for some art in spite of the craziness!

  3. Great use of evacuation time, Joy! You are a steamboat of art activities!!!

  4. A good week! You look to be healing well! Crazy evacuation but a good drawing!

  5. Wow! We only get emergency evacuations when we're at hotels! Argh!!! Your face doesn't look too bad, wonder how it's looking now. Sometimes the bruising shows up a little later. Always creative. That's how I'd describe you!

  6. I am amazed at all the art-y work you get done. And quilting too! And work and medical procedures! You are a whirlwind! Hope you take some time for yourself!

  7. Hope you heal and recover quickly!

  8. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Fun things happening with your art and sewing!
