ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC17 - Week 49

Welcome to Week 49 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  It was another fun filled week in Joyful Quilter Land.  If you've been following along, you know the routine.  Busy, busy, busy!

SUNDAY - I enjoyed a day of sewing.  This time with a friend.  Helena hasn't been over in AGES!!  She came armed with a (left-handed) rotary cutter and a willingness to help on one of my (many) projects.  Thanks, Helena!  It was wonderful to spend the day with you.

HERE is what I got done - placemat bindings:

After her kids called her away, I kept working.  These white, off-white, and cream scrap bits kept me busy until dinner:

When dinner was done, I went to work on the 2nd clue of On Ringo Lake.  A bit of the flamingo fabric made its way into this week's components.  Here are some tiny leftovers:

MONDAY - Off to Knit Group first thing in the morning.  I'm not exactly sure WHERE the afternoon went!!

TUESDAY - FREE DAY!!!  I used it to... run off to a Sew-In at D's house.  What a FUN day!  I started with the makings of a LIGHT Neutral basket and did some organic wavy line quilting:

And, after stitching it up, I chose a binding to apply:

It was finished AT Diane's with one of DIANE'S scraps, the binding fabric, that I had been saving for just the right project:

Then, I moved on to a Mug Rug that I need to finish soon:

I probably SHOULD have worked on pockets and snaps for the last few Trail Totes!  Instead, I opted to clean up another pile of scraps from the cutting table by making the template for ANOTHER scrap basket - to house MORE scraps:

Funny, how much it looks like the mug rug!  (In my defense, the scraps are SEW pretty and my Teal/Turquoise/Aqua basket is overflowing.)  You see?  I'm actually performing community service.  All for the good of the sewing room!!!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  :P

WEDNESDAY - This week's Help-A-Friend Day.  When I was done for the day, I took myself up to the sewing room for some late afternoon fun.  The results?  A basket and options for binding:

In the end, I opted to use 3 out of the 4 choices shown above.  I saved the lightest selection for another time.  ETA... the majority of these scraps came from Katie and a couple other blog friends (you know who you are) who bailed me out when I was extending my Rainbow Strings quilt earlier this year.  Thanks again, friends, for sharing!!!

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group was back on schedule for this week.  You should have SEEN all the cool stuff the travelers got at Pineapple Fabrics!!  They got to see all the fun stuff I've been making and when I got home, I started right in on MORE SCRAPS...  You know?  Working toward wrapping up this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  As if I could just whip out this quilt!!

Ha!!

I was able work on cutting squares for my BROWN Scrap Jar Stars and also for my RSC15 Alternate Blocks:

The remaining stack of scraps called to me:

Sew...

I started matching up bits and running them through the sewing machine.  I figured that pressing them could be one of the jobs that I take care of at Needleb's the next time I'm there.

FRIDAY - A morning of knitting (Sweater Class) and I can hardly believe that I ended up sewing all afternoon, at Needleb's house.  I took advantage of the time by...

Finishing my Aqua scrap basket:

I included a fun surprise on the interior:

Trimming up (a portion) of my BROWN, as well as, my BLACK scrap s for yet MORE baskets.  These were thought about, but not made in November:

I worked on the components for my BROWN Scrap Jar Stars (the background pieces at the top of the photo below) that I never got to in November and Clue #3 (the peachy/coral fabric strips) of the On Ringo Lake Mystery Quilt from Bonnie Hunter at Quiltville:

Funny thing!  I didn't even remember that it was Clue Release Day.

SATURDAY - Well, we have arrived at another LINK PARTY day!  Go check out which RSC Quilters have jumped on the finishing train.  There are sure to be lots of inspirational posts!

I'll be along later.  Right now, I'm headed off to my Monthly Quilt Bee meeting which is followed by our Holiday Potluck.  Yum!!

On Sunday, I will be joining Cynthia for Oh Scrap!
Linking up with Amanda Jean at Crazy Mom Quilts, too.

Until next time...
Get Scrappy!!!

  1. Whew! How do you keep this up?!?!! I’m pretty sure I’m going to need a little rest after reading that. ;) (cute sweater!)

  2. You're doing a fabulous job of working on so many projects. I love the teal basket and mention of a lefty rotary cutter. I've struggled with "right handed" rotary cutters since I'm a lefty!

  3. You did a lot of sewing this week! I finally tried one of those baskets out of an already quilted piece I had! It's not exactly the same, but it worked. I love the size of your big aqua one!

  4. Oh my, you are busy. You sure got lots done. I do like the scrap baskets. I made a small one for threads recently to use at my charity quilting Wednesday. I think the larger size would be a good idea now too for those left over scraps of fabric.

  6. I was so happy to see that sweet bird in your basket. I thought you had chopped her up. But you would never do that! What basket pattern is that. I just had the idea to make some for my daughter and granddaughter who share a sewing room. Does it use some kind of interfacing? Now I'm on a roll! Bye for now to Project Linus.

  7. You always get so much done in one week! Love the basket!
I think I need to take a page from your book and write down everything I have done in a week. Maybe when I see it in writing, I won’t feel like a total slacker! Lol!!

  8. It’s so cool that you have so many local Quilty friends and outlets at which to sew. I’m totally jealous. And I like how you “thought about” your brown scraps in November. Hey, that counts! We quilters understand these things!

  19. No, I don't believe it! There's no way one quilter (aka human) can get that much done in one week. No way. You have too many things going on for it to be believable. And do not publish such nonsense again on the off-chance that someone in my family reads as true. They'll expect much more than a human is capable of.

And in all seriousness: great job! I really wish I could!

  20. Wow quite the basket week you had! So puzzling how the more we use up scraps the more they multiply...

  21. You are an inspiration. Congrats on getting so much done! The baskets are adorable!
