ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC17 - Week 50

Welcome to Week 50 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  The year 2017 is rapidly coming to a close.  I'm trying to pack as much sewing into each week as humanly possible.

Here's how I did with this week's quest...

SUNDAY - I slept late, did some laundry, and caught up on some of my favorite blogs.  I also quilted that sweet little aqua mug rug that I made last week:

I also quilted up a test piece for a new-to-me quilted bucket pattern:

MONDAY - Knit Group was on today's agenda.  That was followed by a sewing session with Needleb.  Yes, ANOTHER!!!  We have to pack in all the days that we can before job situation changes occur.

I made a Quilted Yarn Bowl using (an adaptation of) THIS Little Quilted Bucket pattern by Christina Cameli:

I used a couple of pink fabric scraps from my stash and one from my friend's scrap stash, too.  Thanks, B!!  It turned out SEW cute:

Once that was done, I concentrated on finishing an outstanding Mug Rug Swap:

As a last ditch effort to catch up on my RSC sewing from November, I laid out my Scrap Jar Stars:

In Light BROWN...

As well as Dark BROWN:

Earlier this afternoon, I did some cutting and marking for Clue #3 of my On Flamingo Lake mystery quilt.  Notice the marking tool:

I sewed some, too!  When I got home, I posted about it and linked up with the other Mystery Quilters working on Bonnie Hunter's On Ringo Lake.  Lots of variation to be seen!

TUESDAY - It's a FREE day!!!  I spent it working on Christmas presents for my Knit Group.  Tonight is Girls Night Out, Holiday Edition.  We typically exchange gifts.  Handmade, yarny, or otherwise.  This year I've got a variety of items from yarn purchased at SAFF to a sweater purchased when shopping with the recipient to...

A quilted mug rug made this morning:

Along with a(nother) quilted "yarn bowl."  This one is purple and took multiple tries to complete:

I was a little disappointed when this was done.  The print seemed bolder before quilting.  :o((

That's OK... Beth LOVED it!!  :o))

WEDNESDAY - I spent the WHOLE day in the studio happily doing elf work.  Elf work?  Yes, elf work.  You know... making all the toys for good little knitters.  Here's today's model:

Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict posted about her 2018 Scrap Challenge:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group was follow with more elf sewing.  Here's what I accomplished today...

... and a bonus "yarn bowl", too:

FRIDAY - Sweater Class was this morning.  I didn't get very far, as this was our gift exchange day...

Marie was so excited that she could hardly contain herself:

Cindy was pleased to see her snowman placemats:

As much as she loved them, she loved the fact that she will be able to use the llama side all year long:

Nicole was near tears as she opened her gift:

Pink was PERFECT for her:

I received a "Joyful" travel mug (LOVE it!!) from Cindy:

Both Marie...

... And Nicole already put their quilted "yarn bowls" to work:

When I got home, I got a fair amount of elf sewing done, too.  (I should have since I stayed up so late!)  Sorry, but you still have to wait to see what else I've been up to.

SATURDAY - This week was a blur.  Each day blended into the next and somehow, we have arrived at LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I'm looking forward to seeing who has been in a finishing mood this week.  You may want to check it out, too.  There's always SEW much to see.

Until next time...
Get Scrappy!!!

  1. Such a fun week. I am going to have to try to make one of those bowls.... although it looks like they might be a little like lays potato chips.. where you can't just make one!

  2. You just saved my life, Joy. I've been working on my three gift baskets using Fiona's tute, but was worried about how they join to become baskets. So just now I checked Christina's video and it was clear as a bell. In fact, I like the idea of a turndown lip, may do that. I haven't got to the Quilting stage because I have to do the dreaded switch to the walking foot, a three-handed job. So thanks a bunch. I also joined the Scrap Attack when Chantal posted to it. So see you around in the new year.

  3. My gosh! Do you sleep at all? You accomplish so much in a week! Great job on the knitter's baskets. There are all cute. ;^)

  4. So much fun to share hand-made gifts with friends!

  5. Your yarn bowls are just so darned cute! I'm gonna go watch the tutorial; thanks for the link.

  6. Wow! You have been busy. I love all these little baskets you are making. Thanks for sharing the tutorial with Oh Scrap!

  7. What a productive week! I love making quilted buckets/bowls and yours are darling.

  8. Cute yarn bowls! Wonderful gifts!

  9. You always pack so much into one week! Lots of fun elf sewing. Hope you are enjoying the holiday festivities.
