Blogger's Quilt Festival:: Fall 2017 Edition

Welcome to The Joyful Quilter!!  I just got a wild hair and decided to do something different (for me.)  While enjoying some of the entries for the Blogger's Quilt Festival:: 2017 Edition over on Amy's Creative Side, I decided to join in the fun by going out on a limb and writing up a post.

HERE is my scrappy entry, Rainbow Strings:

This quilt started out as a project for the 2015 Rainbow Scrap Challenge over at the So Scrappy blog.  It continued during RSC16 and was completed in June of 2017.

You can read more about the making of Rainbow Strings in THIS POST and the finishing in THIS POST, but I thought I might add a few tidbits here...

I thought that I might continue to make String blocks for the 2017 Rainbow Scrap Challenge, but suddenly ran out of steam:

In the future, I will remove the paper once the rows are complete:

Removing paper from a completed quilt top is NO FUN:

Quilting on my APQS Millennium is TONS of FUN:

Using my Circle Lord giant template boards from Loricle makes quilting MUCH less stressful (once squishy shelf liner is in place):

Matching binding colors around the edge of the quilt is not quite as easy as one might think, but perfection is overrated:

While the quilt started out to be for me...

... My knitting mentor fell in love with Rainbow Strings:

Until next time...
Friends don't leave friends quiltless!!!

  2. What a wonderful string quilt. I can imagine that taking the paper off as you piece them would be a lot less tedious :-)

  10. Very pretty! I've got a strings quilt on my list to do so the tip to remove the papers after completing a row is good. I've often wondered why do the paper at all?
