ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC24 - Week 32

Welcome to Week 32 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was all about finishing.  Was there any ORANGE scraps involved?  Maybe SEW!!

SATURDAY - Quilting...

SUNDAY - During my Weekly Morning Art Zoom, I completed the final page of Junk Journal July.  I had skipped the POETIC prompt because I wasn't sure what to do.  Bonus points for ORANGE art:

MONDAY - Work

Afterwards, I spent some time working on the SCRAPS, STENCIL & TEXTURE PASTE prompt for Art Journal August with @shanoukiart on YouTube:

WEDNESDAY - Day one of my "mid-week weekend".  As luck would have it, I still had to get up at 5:45 AM to get ready for a trip to the airport.  Sigh... The things we do for our (adult) children!

After a few errands, it was time for an early Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

Whoops!  Neither of us were ready for the camera.  You might notice that I wasn't in my usual "meeting spot", but in bed from another bout of vertigo.  Thankfully, it didn't start before I returned home from the airport!

Fortunately, the spinning stopped in time for a quick walk before the storm rolled in.  The construction workers were busy assembling House #6:

THURSDAY - I was thrilled to be able to attend my Weekly Quilt Group.  The following quilters dodged raindrops and wind guts to be there:

FRIDAY - Work...

With a brief stop at Knit Group on the way.  Unfortunately, I neglected to get an attendee photo, but Tracy sent the following photo later - not the knitters, but the quilt recipient:

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC24 - Week 31

Welcome to Week 31 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week's post will begin back at last Saturday afternoon.  I had a plan for the day....

Saturday - Chores in the morning and a mid-day Art Zoom with Get Messy:

Which would be followed by sewing on my current commission quilt, BUT...

Why, Joyful???

DH also had a full schedule of chores.  His were out in the yard.  They came to a screeching halt when he stood up and hit his head on the corner of the shed roof, as it's not full height:

There was a 5cm gash requiring 3 staples, but no concussion.

With that update out of the way, I can begin to fill you in on this week...

SUNDAY - My Weekly Morning Art Zoom started things off.  I worked on the BUTTON prompt for Junk Journal July:

Go thrifting at out favorite local thrift store.  I found a number of AQUA goodies as we browsed, but none of them followed me home:

After a trip to the grocery store, I delivered Tracy's handknit socks to the grandmother of the recipients:

THURSDAY - Work

Today, the RSC Quilters are transitioning from AQUA to...

ORANGE for August!!!  I found a few fun orange things during this week's thrifting adventure, but only this metal mesh bin came home with me:

FRIDAY - It was just the two of us for Knit Group today.  Everyone else had other things planned.  Tracy and I did a rerun of Wednesday at Rambling River Mercantile.  It's our favorite coffee shop:

I came home to find that construction had begun on house number six:

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC2024 - Week 30

Welcome to Week 30 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week will definitely involve some sewing.  AQUA scrap sewing?  One never knows around here.

Round One (at the top of the page shown below) - collage, color change, add a quote, make marks, and stencil:

After lunch, I chatted with Knittingsuek during our weekly Zoom call:

MONDAY - Work

After dinner, I decided to search for details to add to the houses I created in yesterday's Art Zoom.  The scale may be questionable, but the compositions make me smile:

It  was straight home once the workday was done.  I was nearly late for my weekly Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color, but she was kind enough to wait for me:

As I left for my evening walk, I noticed that another foundation was poured and today the next house "kit" has arrived:

THURSDAY - It's the start of this week's 4-day weekend.  The first order of business was to decorate an envelope for a piece of Happy Mail.  Gelli Plate to the rescue:

With the arrangement set on Tuesday afternoon, I spent a fair amount of time sewing columns of T-shirt blocks together today and finished the final one just in time to leave for my Monthly Evening Quilt Bee.

Summer meetings are iffy, at best.  Tonight, there were only five of us in attendance:

FRIDAY - TABLE SCRAPS Challenge

Knit Group met this morning.  There was a slim crew today, as one friend wasn't feeling well and another was entertaining a guest.  We three tried a new coffee shop:

This afternoon my SIL met somewhere in the middle between her house and mine.  We had planned to meet at a local tea shop in the next town over from me, but ended up at Converge Coffee Roaster.  I wouldn't say it's the best cafe in the area, but it was a quiet and comfortable place for an afternoon chat:

When dinner was done, I headed upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  I worked on a collage for today's SHADE prompt for Junk Journal July:

July 2024 - TABLE SCRAPS Challenge - Link Party

Welcome to the July 2024 edition of the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge here at the Joyful Quilter!!  I'll start with a little backstory, in case you are new here.  (Apologies to my regular readers since you already know all about it.) I'm a scrap quilter who had been setting up individual challenges for several years in conjunction with Angela's (RSC) Rainbow Scrap Challenge @ So Scrappy.  Participants from around the corner, across the country and around the world have been having SEW much fun and we all have MORE scraps to use, so I am pleased to offer the...

In 2024, we have a broad range of quilted items that are appropriate for linking to the Challenge.  Baskets and bins, along with pillows and pin cushions, are all qualifying projects.  Not just the toppers, runners, and mug rugs.  Basically, ANY small quilted item qualifies.  The main premise is that you USE the (new or old) SCRAPS from your cutting table (or your friend's cutting table - since that's where the majority of my scraps come from!)

There will be a prompt each month to help get your creative juices flowing.  While you are NOT required to use it in your project, the guiding word will be revealed at the end of each month's LINK PARTY post.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the following month's focus.  It, along with the RSC Color of the Month (as soon as Angela releases it - around the 1st of the month.) will also be added to the 2024 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page at the top of the blog.

BUTTERFLY

I really THOUGHT that I knew where I was going with that, but...

I was happy dancing when Angela announced that the Color of the Month was AQUA.

I'll spare you the gruesome details, but suffice it to say that it was NOT accomplished in just one attempt:

Once my directionally challenged brain managed that task, binding was made and applied:

At the Beach:

The quilted pillow topper will soon be off to its new owner.  And as a bonus, it can be used as a wall hanging, if desired.  What a fun project!  I hope you enjoyed you own TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry this month, too.  I know that working in AQUA is quite often a fan favorite.
