ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC 22 - Week 27

Welcome to Week 27 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was a blur.  Closing out the 2nd quarter and starting the 3rd took time away from... everything else.  Would you believe that I didn't even START today's post until this afternoon?!?!

Let's got to the videotape...

Oh, wait!  I guess I'm showing my age with that comment, aren't I?  What I meant to say was for you to wait here while I check my phone photos (so that I can recreate the week.)

SUNDAY - The week started with a Zoom call to Knittingsuek...

... And quickly reverted to paper scraps and art journaling:

MONDAY - Wordle in three tries:

The studio gallery wire was dressed for the 4th of July holiday:

TUESDAY - I enjoyed my scrappy PURPLE mug rug, along with my big ole cup of tea before work this morning:

WEDNESDAY - Today's prompt for the ICAD Challenge was MYSTERIOUS and it was certainly a challenge to figure out what to do.  I started out doing what is called "activating the page" by scribbling with the fine point no-smear Sharpie that I found.  Some painted paper, a quote and a doodle finished off my entry:

This afternoon, I enjoyed my weekly Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

After dinner, look what I found!!  The beetles left one single rose bud unharmed:

THURSDAY - What a beautiful welcome to the work day...

... But when I got home this afternoon, this greeted me... 100 degrees... in the SHADE:

This page was added to the back of my Junk Journal today.  I've added a section for the Fodder Challenge with @willa.wanders and @tiffanysimplysharpe.  Day 2's class was about gelli printing with homemade stencils and masks - not the fabric kind.  I used some of @drewsteinbrecher shapes, but cut them from my stash of painted papers and glued them on the page since I don't have a gel plate:

FRIDAY - Day 3 of the Fodder Challenge yielded this page in my "altered magazine" journal, thanks to a Study of Shapes lesson with @juliehamiltoncreative.  I drew the black and white images during the class and later added the colorful bits, along with some extra doodles for added interest:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  Won't you join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week?  From what I understand, they've been having some scrappy PURPLE fun!  I've been too busy playing with paper this week, as evidenced by today's entry for Junk Journal July.  The WALLPAPER prompt found me fussy cutting the last remaining chunk of a much-loved old border:

Until next time...

The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 40 - Jeannie Sews Stripes

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  When responding to a quilter on Ravelry who was interested in the Table Scraps Challenge a couple of days ago, I mentioned that there was still time to complete something for the June Link Party.

Well, Sockjeannieous read that and had the following to say...

OMG I still have time to do a June block. I’ll get right on it. Is there an extension every month? I thought it ended at the end of the calendar month.

To which I explained...

I gave an extension for the holiday this time. Each Link Party post details when the closing date will be. In general, I have started giving the Monday after the party for those who wait til the last minute to do anything, but are busy on the weekends.

The next day, she posted this...

Just finished by June Table Scraps Challenge (yes, I know it is July but the deadline was extended due to the holiday.  Bright or dark blue with stripes was the challenge.  I quilted with parallel lines - which are getting pretty good if I do say so myself).

I already have my idea for July.
Jeannie

Give Jeannie's BLUE project some quilty love in the comments below.  I know that you enjoyed seeing her fun striped mini (which just happened to include July's Circles, Spots, and Dots theme.)  I certainly did!  Thank you for sending this photo for the blog, Jeannie.  I appreciate you sharing your entry so that others may be inspired to quilt small, too!

Link Party REMINDER...

The June 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Link Party started on Friday, June 24th @ 12:01 AM and through Tuesday, July 5th @ 11:59 PM due to the US holiday weekend.  At this posting, you only have a few hours to post your own Bright/Dark BLUE and/or STRIPE-y project.  Will YOU join in the scrappy fun?

Until next time...
SEW those table scraps!!!

Summer 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back!!

The SUMMER 2022 UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on Thursday, July 7, 2022. (In the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry.)

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight EDT on September 30, 2022!!!

What's your strategy, Joyful???

I'm a moody quilter.  Given the "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation, I tend to err on the side MORE is better.  That is simply because I have to "be in the mood" to work on a particular project!  By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I give myself a better chance at finding something I want to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the SUMMER 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1. PositivityQAL/Block Drive #1 (2021)
2. PositivityQAL/Block Drive #2 (2021 with GREEN)

3. PositivityQAL/Block Drive #3 (2021 only PURPLE)
4. Panel Twin #1

5. Panel Twin #2

6. Bright Eyes (Faces Workshop 2021)
7. Nick's Tiny Teal HSTs (2021)
8. Blue and Green for Parrish (2016)
9. Noah's Grad Quilt (2020)

10. Grand Illusion (2014)

11. Stay at Home ROW Robin (2021)
12. SAHRR Hearts (2022)

13. Where's Jackson? (2011)

At home
How many years CAN a dog sit on a sewing table?  Only time will tell...

Sit.  Stay.  Good dog!
Note: This one is on the list at the request of my friend
Deb @ Happy to be Scrappy and one day I will
surprise her by completing this project.
14. Rainbow Picnic (2017)

15. Circle Challenge Topper (2022 at top)

16. Batik Runner (2022 on Right)

17. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

18. Aboriginal Runner (2022 on Left)

19. Maggie's PURPLE Runner (2022)

20. Diane's PURPLE Strip Mini (2022)

21. QFK Challenge (2022)

22. Pale Blue & Green Topper (2022)

SEW...

I went a little crazy and that's 22 projects listed for the Summer 2022 UFO Club which should give me PLENTY of options.  My goal is ONE finish for the quarter.  More than that is usually a bonus!  At minimum, I hope to finish several of these.  My "pie-in-the-sky" goal would be to knock out a dozen during this session!  The quilt show is coming up and there are challenges and programs to support.

Remember...
There's still time for YOU to join in the finishing fun!  Sign-ups are open through Thursday, July 7th @ midnight (EDT), so head over to the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry today.  Email if you need help with the process.

Until next time...
Wish me luck!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 26

Welcome to Week 26 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, I am pleased to share that Angela announced the Color of the Month for July.  Here is a recent art journal page showcasing the scraps that RSC Quilters will be using.  PURPLE and oddly enough, it also includes July's theme for the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge which is CIRCLES, SPOTS, AND DOTS:

SUNDAY - Started off the week with my Zoom call with Knittingsuek:

While I was waiting for time to Zoom, I took in a FREE cooking class:

It explained a LOT about what I've been doing WRONG these last many years!!  I enjoyed learning from Chef Todd Mohr, but...

Be warned:  FREE isn't without a cost when it comes with "come-ons" for his paid cooking course!

MONDAY - What happened today?  I worked a while, I played Wordle and, for some reason, really had to think about what the word could possibly be after coming thisclose to winning ...

Spoiler alert:  Once I had a bit more caffeine circulating through my veins, it wasn't so hard!

I played Quordle and WON - maybe for the first time EVER:

Later, I completed the PLAID prompt for the day's ICAD challenge.  Mixing some of my own colors and painting the rough plaid design was a lot of fun.  Fabric scraps were used:

TUESDAY - My monthly Evening Bee was tonight:

I was early so stopped to check out the sunglasses on offer at our local big box store...

This was the first pair I tried on, but they were too expensive:

Purple to coordinate with my shirt - in honor of the RSC:

Not these, for sure:

WEDNESDAY - Today's Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color was filled with all things art and a little bit of quilting:

THURSDAY - Errands and art-ing occupied my time and while I was there, I ordered my new sunglasses in hopes that I will receive them before summer is over, opting for full coverage to discourage sun-glare headaches:

Goodbye, BLUE, but not without sharing the two things I bought last week:

Another day, another challenge.  It's #JunkJournalJuly hosted by @megjournals and this is the "altered magazine" that I'll be working in:

Today's prompt was BEGIN.  I got a start on it, but it feels like it needs more:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  Since there have been precious few PURPLE scraps flying in my studio, here are the flowers that I spotted on last night's walk...

Along with the Barn Quilt sighting whose design incorporated a bit of PURPLE, too:

I'll dig into these over the weekend or sometime next week:

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!
