Welcome to the June 2022 edition of the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge here at the Joyful Quilter!! Thanks for stopping by to see what participants have made this month.
I'm a scrap quilter who is really enjoying this challenge. For several years, I hosted individual challenges in conjunction with Angela's (RSC) Rainbow Scrap Challenge @ So Scrappy. Last year, I went global when I offered the 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge. There were participants from around the corner, across the country and around the world. It's been SEW much fun and we all have MORE scraps to use, so I changed the "rules" and am pleased to offer the...

This year, baskets and bins, along with pillows and pin cushions, are qualifying projects. Not just the toppers, runners, and mug rugs we focused on during the 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge. This year, basically, ANY small quilted item qualifies. The main premise is that you USE the (new or old) SCRAPS from your cutting table (or your friend's cutting table - since that's where the majority of my scraps come from!)
Each month I offer a prompt to help get your creative juices flowing. While you are NOT required to use it in your project, the guiding word will be revealed at the end of each month's LINK PARTY post. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see July's focus. It, along with the RSC Color of the Month (as soon as Angela releases it - around the 1st of the month) will also be added to the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page at the top of the blog.
June's theme was...
Here's what I did with that...
The Color of the Month was Bright/Dark BLUE so I brought out my scrap basket to see what might inspire me:
Right on top was a small UFO...
Which I promptly finished:
You just saw the back side of the completed pin cushion in the photo of my Quilted Scrap Basket shown above:
Follow this LINK for my tutorial, if you would like to make a Quilted Scrap Basket like mine.
That was a quick win, but WAIT!!! There's more...
Since my TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry was completed SEW early in the month, I decided to see what else I could find in my scrap basket.
What did you come up with, Joyful???
I found these lovely Bright/Dark BLUE scraps:
They were wonderful and begged to be sewn into something fun, but...
When I dug a little deeper...
This little topper was waiting for me to find it. Hoping for me to layer it up:
I present my (second) June 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry:
~ 6" x 18"
What's next, Joyful???
July will be arriving before we know it. Do you have any idea what the Color of the Month might be? Angela will let us know soon enough, but...
July's theme is:
CIRCLES, SPOTS & DOTS
NOTE: Angela announced PURPLE for July. (I will update on the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge tab at the top of my blog as soon as it's announced.)
It's time for YOU to link up your Bright/Dark BLUE and/or Stripe-y project in the LINK PARTY below. All entries MUST be submitted by Tuesday, July 5th @ 11:59PM (EDT). Here's hoping everyone will enjoy the (US) holiday weekend and maybe a bit of sewing time, too.
Until next time...
USE those table scraps!!!

I love all your scrappy projects.ReplyDelete
That is such a sweet scrap pincushion! Who can’t use a new pinnie now and again. The little runner is a scrap project delight. And how genius of you to add stripes to it with your matchstick quilting!ReplyDelete
2 finishes! Wow. Don't you love when you find projects almost to the finish line for that easy win?ReplyDelete
Love your pincushion and the little striped mini, too, Joy! Matchstick quilting is something I've never tried, but now I need to. My projects are ready to share, just need to write up the post!ReplyDelete

You make such wonderful items from your scraps! I wasn't getting your notifications, don't know why, so I signed up again. Always love to see the great many things you do.ReplyDelete
Looks like fun for anyone with lots of scraps. Your matchstick quilted table topper is lovely. Matchstick is one of the few quilting techniques I've yet to try. Just haven't found the perfect project for it.ReplyDelete
I too love all your scrappy projects. I enjoy reading your posts about them and applaud that you expanded table scraps to include small quilted items. . .brilliant move! TerryKReplyDelete
