Scrap Attack Tuesday - June Accomplishments

Welcome to the reporting post for June's Scrap Attack goals!!

I waited til the last minute and grabbed all of the TEAL/TURQUOISE/AQUA scraps from the barrel (in honor of the RSC Color of the Month) and started cutting at last Tuesday's NT Nights Quilt Bee meeting:

However, I decided to save the triangles for another (future) project.  The result of my efforts:

Even though I decided NOT to trim down the triangle and I only finished ONE color, I'm still considering this a WIN!!

I forgot what the secondary goal was and went off on a tangent.  I did work with scraps, but for some reason, I got it in my head that I was supposed to trim up these (previously sewn) leftover Leader/Ender HSTs:

Spring 2018 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The Results

The Spring 2018 session of the UFO Club now CLOSED!!  ALL Club Members should have posted their 5 (or more) Quilting UFOs in the Quilters Knitting Group on Ravelry or linked to your blog by April 7, 2018. Shared progress was requested. All qualifying projects must have been posted to this thread by Midnight (EDT) on June 30, 2018.

I didn't finish any projects this term.  I did make progress on Dad's Ties for Molly, which is ready for quilting:

The two-color binding has been prepared:

Session Totals: 13 quilters completed 22 projects. Congrats! to Siberspinner on finishing her 2nd UFO of the session. She finished with only hours to spare, earning her the title of Queen of the Last Minute for this session!!

Thank you to all of our participants. Cheerleaders, you make our efforts worthwhile. Congrats! to all of our finishers.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week26

Welcome to Week 26 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  It's the final day of June.  The LAST day to focus on ocean colors for RSC18.  Tomorrow brings a new hue.

For now, let's look back at the events of the last seven days...

SUNDAY - After yesterday's day-long quilting adventure, I slept late, had a slow day, and tackled Mt. Mount Washmore (a task made easier by our new-to-us Super Duper HUGE washing machine!)

MONDAY - I spent the afternoon trying on dresses for my niece's wedding.  It's coming up in September and I didn't want the stress of waiting until the last minute (like I did for my nephew's wedding back in April.)  These were the top contenders:

RSC Quilters should notice that nearly all of these are in the Color of the Month, a personal favorite of mine!!

TUESDAY - Day Two of deliberations on the dresses.  I took them with me to my monthly evening Quilt Bee meeting.  Their pick was this one:

Aside from that, I worked on another of my Scrap Attack goals:

WEDNESDAY - Day Three of deliberations on the dresses.  The final choice was made... with the help of my family:

The returns were made well before the 6:00 deadline.  They even offered me CASH back on my charge (which I seriously considered), but ultimately declined... Because BILLS!!!)

THURSDAY  - I had hoped for a quick trip to my Weekly Quilt Group since they were meeting near me.  How'd that work for me?  It didn't!  I got the meeting place confused.  :o((

FRIDAY - Join with me in a happy dance, as we usher in the weekend!!  :o))

Knit Group met this morning.  I consulted with the pro about the state of my sleeves.  They seem a bit wide near the cuff.  We ripped them back to short sleeve length and I will try again.

To console myself, I joined them in a shopping expedition.  I spotted these TEAL/TURQUOISE/AQUA treasures:

This one (minus the bag and shoes) came home with me:

After a stop for for lunch, I drove out to Sfgwife's mini-farm.  She had a nearly completed scrappy quilt with TURQUOISE background to show me:

She also shared the bottom skein of AQUA (Wollmeise) yarn shown in the photo below for a new knitting project:

The main purpose of my trip was to raid her scrap stash for fun bits of fabric to expand my IMPROV Challenge quilt:

SATURDAY - Somehow, we have arrived at LINK PARTY day, again.  The weeks have a way of passing quickly.  Head over to Angela's So Scrappy blog to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  You may even see some TEAL/TURQUOISE/AQUA month-in-review posts.

Wonderful Wednesday - Sew Saturday in Clayton

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  In this post, I will be sharing the details of last weekend's sewing adventure.  After linking up with Angela's Rainbow Scrap Challenge LINK PARTY, I headed out the door.

Some would say that I'm crazy to have driven an hour to sew for the day.  I believe that my friends are worth the time invested.

I was the first one to arrive, but Lisa brought out her completed Feathered Star quilt top:

She didn't like the flow of her Blooming 9-Patch colors, so she used some Color Release on one of them and over-dyed the resulting cloth.  It fits in MUCH better:

I put in some time on my Scrap Attack goal for the month of June:

Carol arrived and got to work on her beautiful Bear Paw quilt:

The "claws" with color are from one of her grandmother's shirts.  She intermingles those with plain black to extend the design:

Carol will build the quilt back around this gorgeous bear panel:

Here, you can see how she began:

Graylagran arrived and gave us a little Quilt Show.  This is her very first quilt top, pieced back when she was a girl:

This quilt (from the Midnight Quilt Show with Angela Walters) was Graylagran's first attempt at paper piecing:

This is a wolf paw cut-out.  Carol brought it along to give us an idea of her quilting plan for a portion of her quilt.  She will use an image of a bear's paw, but didn't have one readily available:

Graylagran shared THIS quilt (shown below) from her Pinterest page.  I absolutely LOVE the feel of a fun and funky "Jelly Roll Race Quilt".  Personally, I would call the quilt shown below Confetti Race:

These fabrics all came from an IMPROV Swap held within the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry:

I'm using scraps.  Just not my own scraps!  At least, there were a fair amount that fit with the RSC Color of the Month:

While Lois couldn't be with us today, she worked on quilting with her granddaughter:
