ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 20

Welcome to Week 20 of the 2022 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  First and foremost, I want to start off with a great big THANK YOU to those readers who left such kind words on last week's post about my not leaving comments or replying to very many comments for the past few weeks of the RSC.  I appreciate your understanding!  Then, I'll move on to a little bit of Sage/Forest GREEN.  The leaves of the beautiful bloom I captured out in my garden qualify - and it just might be the only thing remotely related to the Color of the Month this week:

SUNDAY - No post, as I am fully immersed in a commission quilt.  There will be something to share soon, though.  Scrappy and bright.  A true delight.

Just not this week.

MONDAY - Mini Monday (Click the link to go to today's post.)

Tonight was Quilt Guild and here I am at home...

Waiting for the Decisions, Decisions program by Carole @ From My Carolina Home to begin:

I muted myself during the program and worked on sewing these shirts into columns:

I suppose the last of the roses from our recent celebration occasion are past their prime:

TUESDAY - I spent a little time with a different kind of GREEN scraps this morning:

I sewed the fusible stabilizer release paper (and a bit of the stabilizer itself) into today's journal page:

The scrap of fabric on the righthand page inspired the color combination.
And LOOK...  There's Forest GREEN in it!

WEDNESDAY - Wonderful Wednesday  (Click the link to go to today's post.)

Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

During our call, I worked on the final block for the GrandTquilt:

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE is no more and it seems that I will have to find something else to talk about on Thursdays.  Oh, bother!  Maybe something interesting will happen at work today.  My rose bush out front is really putting on a show!  Flowers, buds, and more coming:

I tried some new-to-me techniques on today's journal page:

There's a bit of GREEN on the page, RSC Quilter friends!

FRIDAY
- ZoomKNIT has also been discontinued and, wonder of wonders, I was able to pop in to Knit Group for a short while:

With the final column sewn into the quilt, I loaded the frame and got to work:

Sage/Forest GREEN scrappy progress.  The binding has been cut and prepared.  Now, I just need to steal a moment to apply it and stitch it down:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I'll get there eventually...

Maybe not today, though.  I've got to finish that quilt before the thunderstorms arrive.

Until next time...

Wonderful Wednesday - The Friend-ly Sew Day

Welcome to the latest edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  It's hard to believe this actually took place more than two weeks ago no. I still wanted to honor the day with its own post and share my day with you.

You see...

Needleb came over:

She had some cutting to do and wanted to root through my purple scraps:

I took the time to load my thread racks - shown soon after that day:

I worked on my H2H quilt which is now finished - sans binding:

B's project has grown since that day, as well:

Happiness is spending quilty time with good friends:

Thanks for celebrating my friend-ly sew day with me.

Until next time...

Mini Monday/The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 38 - Jeannie's SEW Squares

Welcome to another edition of Mini Monday!!  Today, I've got a Guest Blogger post from Jeannie.  It's short and sweet, but it will serve as a reminder that the end of May is on its way.

Jeannie shared the following on Ravelry's Quilters Knitting group...

This month’s table scraps challenge (sage or forest green/squares) was difficult as I don’t have any sage fabric and very little forest green. This is a coaster:

Give Jeannie's precisely Forest GREEN project some quilty love in the comments below.  I know that you enjoyed seeing her sweet mini.  I certainly did!  Thank you for sending this photo for the blog, Jeannie.  I appreciate you sharing your little quilt so that others may be inspired to dig deep in their fabric scraps, too!

Link Party REMINDER...

The May 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Link Party starts on Friday, May 27th @ 12:01 AM and closes on MONDAY, May 30th @ 11:59 PM.  At this posting, you have the better part of TWO WEEKS to start your own Sage/Forest GREEN and/or SQUARE-ular project.  Will YOU join in the scrappy fun?

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 19

Welcome to Week 19 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week I was thanking my lucky stars that I have a template I can pop in for a post.  I've been super busy in the studio and on Friday morning, I faced the horror of a blank page!!  Many of you know that's not how I operate here at the Joyful Quilter blog.

Let's try to recreate the week, shall we...

SUNDAY - Before I get into what took place today, I've got two things to share:

First, some of you might have noticed that I'm TWO WEEKS behind on commenting about your RSC posts.  My (profuse) apologies!!  I visited as many posts as I possibly could, but catching up probably won't happen at this point.  Many of you also got radio silence after leaving comments on my posts.  You KNOW that's not my style!  It makes me sad, but time and mental energy just didn't give me a chance to get back to everyone.  (Anyone?!)  I'm hoping all of you will forgive me.  (Thanks in advance for that!)  I'm hoping to be back to my regularly chatty self next month.

Next, I'll briefly share what kept me away yesterday.  My Monthly Quilt Bee had a (Virtual) Work Day:

It was a revolving door of visitors from the morning (shown above) into the afternoon.  Everyone was working on a project, but I was so busy that I didn't take many photos.  Here is the afternoon crew:

They are having a Sit and Stitch next weekend, but I've got a project (or two) on a deadline and can't afford spending the day away.  :o((

That brings us to what actually happened on Sunday...

DS1 was visiting the studio today.  We chatted while I worked on this journal page...

Look, RSC Quilters!  Sage GREEN as a nod to the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

And prepared my H2H quilt back for loading on the longarm:

MONDAY - Shades of GREEN with my morning cup of tea:

Thanks, Diane!!  I'm enjoying BOTH sides of the mug rug you made.  :o))

Between other projects, I fit in a little bit of Forest GREEN scrappy sewing:

TUESDAY - Whew!  (Finally) Layered up the LAST block on the SIL T-Quilt:

WEDNESDAY - There was a Wonderful Wednesday post in my head, but it didn't make its way onto the page.  I did take time to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE is now a thing of the past.  Members of my Weekly Quilt Group are back to meeting in person.  I worked today, so I wasn't able to attend.

Look closely to find the Forest GREEN bits in the String quilt shown above.

The stitch regulator was having a hissy fit last night.  My in-house maintenance tech was called in to adjust the encoder wheels on the longarm.  (Thanks for the service call, DH!!)  His assistance made it possible for me to proceed from here.

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT seems to have fizzled out, too.  Theoretically, I have the day off and could join them this morning.  Realistically, that won't be happening.  I'm in project hyperdrive!  Very little time for anything outside the four walls of my studio.

I did take a few minutes to play with today's journal prompt:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I'll post the direct link later today.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 18

Welcome to Week 18 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week the RSC Quilters were happy to discover the Color of the Month.  Here's a hint:

Kat @ Kat and Cat Quilts released the May/June Block Drive for Covered in Love.

After Zoom with Knittingsuek...

I did a little housework and a grocery pick-up (which took WAY longer than it should have!)

MONDAY - The Guest Blogger(s) Late Edition!!!

I started something new today.  This is where my adventure began.  An old rainbow dot planner is about to be transformed!  For the cover, I decided to use strips of a pretty duct tape layered with a colorful business card, a scrap of paper, and some washi tape:

Messy May promises to be a lot of fun.  Just putting paint to paper was a thrill for me:

TUESDAY - It was a work day today, but I dug out my Sage/Forest GREEN scraps for May's Color of the Month when I got home:

WEDNESDAY - It was my day off.  I made really good use of it!  I started out with today's journal page:

Followed by a trip to Scrap Central!!!  It was great to see Diane and we had a lovely visit on her front porch.  Just LOOK what was waiting for me:

Sage/Forest GREEN scraps for my RSC Quilter friends!  :o))

Triple the fun during my Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

It took us that many times to get a decent photo and that's how many 40-minute Zoom sessions we went through before we had said all we had to say for the day!

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE - Not for me.  :o((  I spent the day at work and the evening in the studio.  I had some catching up to do.  Here's my block for Covered in Love's current Pixel Block Drive:

This must be some kind of record for me.  Only FIVE days into the first month?
My Block Drive block is done and ready to mail!!!

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT went live, but... Even though WORK was canceled, I still had work to do!!!  While missing my friends, I made the most of the day by doing today's journal page, several loads of laundry, and prepping the last of the T-shirts for my commission quilt:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  My apologies, friends.  I am behind on visiting most of the links and today I'm quadruple booked!  It's an occasion day around here, too.  I'll be enjoying these bits of GREEN:

Until next time...

The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 37 - Britt Finishes a UFO

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  For some reason, posting to the Link Party from Instagram can be problematic at times.  I'm not sure why it happens or how to go about finding a solution.  Over the weekend, I was informed that it happened, again.

My good friend Britt tagged me with the following April 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry:

When I inquired about the scraps, she responded with an email.  Here's an excerpt...

The scraps are leftover bits of Kaffe, mostly....  Figured it was time to finish it off:

This is what @britt_quilts had to say in her IG post:

A little candle mat for the monthly challenge from @thejoyfulquilter to use some fabric scraps. I even followed the "rules" and included this month's color, pink. Made from scraps that remind me of the fun and vibrant sweetness of Anna.

Visit her page to see more of her beautiful quilts, paintings, and photography.

Give Britt's sweet candle mat some quilty love in the comments below.  I believe that you enjoyed seeing her completed project.  I know I did!  Thanks for sending a photo to inspire my readers to USE their special scraps, B!

Link Party REMINDER...

The April 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Link Party ends TODAY, May 2nd @ 11:59 PM.  There's still time for YOU to post your own scrappy project.

Until next time...

Sew Some Love Sunday - H2H 2022 - The Quilt Top

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  I've been working on my 2022 Hands2Help quilt since LAST year. I'm pleased to announce that the blocks shown below have now been assembled into a quilt top.

Here's the story, for those who care to read it...

Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict shared a tutorial by Christina @ A Few Scraps for H2H21.  It was YELLOW month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge when I got started on my blocks.  I was busy quilting donation quilts and didn't get very far, but figured that would give me a head start for this year's event.  I was right!  :o))

I finished up the last few blocks a couple of weeks ago and decided on a layout, then sewed the rows together.  Here they are, waiting to be pressed:

Assembling the quilt top was a little tricky since I selected an on-point setting:

I got it together and now just need to choose or make a backing:

What a cheerful quilt this is going to be.  As you can see, I opted for an alternate setting.  Love, love, LOVE the fun dotted fabric that my Design Assistant picked out!  I was having trouble deciding on something.  Thanks, DS2!!  This will be donated to my local quilt guild's charity program to avoid having to make a(nother) trip to the post office.

Until next time...
Sew Some Love!!!
