The 100 Day Project - #100Days100ThingsDecluttered - Week 2

Welcome to Week 2 of the #100Days100ThingsDecluttered new mini-series here on The Joyful Quilter!!  I started The 100 Day Project on February 18th.  I'm still shocked that I finally committed to it.  It's particularly popular on Instagram.  I have been hesitant to participate before now.  I'll be releasing weekly updates for those of you who might be interested in seeing what goes out the door.

What's your project, again, Joyful???

I signed up with a different idea in mind than most.  You can read about it HERE.  That link will tell you all about my project.

The gist of my focus...

Decluttering my home and studio in an effort to free up space for MORE creativity.

Here's my progress for Week Two:

3 grill utensils (that we never choose to use)
1 decorative door hanger
2 quilt blocks
3 paperback books
1 dead highlighter
1 basketball tote
3 more decorative tins
1 bag of ethnic scraps (tried using them in several different projects, but can't seem to make them work)

Week 2 Total: 15/100

Updated Project Total: 31/100

Thank you to those of you who encouraged me in my decluttering efforts last week!  I appreciate your kind comments and your willingness to cheer me along.  Angie @ A Quiltering Reader's Garden decided to join me in my quest.  She had the following to say:

I'm joining! If ever a quilter needed to declutter, it is I. Day one of decluttering starts now. Good Luck!

Wishing Angie the best of luck!

Come back next week to see what goes in the box during the next 7 days.

  1. I could certainly benefit from finding 100 items to give away, but could I actually put them in a box and get them out the door? I have pulled a dozen quilted items to sell at an upcoming show, so there is a little progress. I threw away all my non-stick cookware and replaced it with fewer pots and pans, but there is still a lot in the kitchen that could go. OH wait, I gave away a dozen grill skewers that I never used just last month, so I am on the way to 100!

  2. I love getting items no longer loved by my quilting friends so it would be nice to hand out some of yours to them!

  3. Great progress! I've been working my way through a big tote, with the goal of having an empty tote when done. Every little bit helps.

  4. I am bringing two Christmas tins at our Artisanat meeting tonight for the give away table. If they don't find a new home, they will go directly into the donation box. So, YAY us! for decluttering. Not sure I would be able to separate from my books. That's a tough one. About grill utensils, my son broke one this week, does it count as declutter? Lol. (We had two so no need to get another one.) Go, Angie! You can do this too. Enjoy! ;^)

  7. You are doing the thing - excellent! It does feel good doesn't it to unload some of all the stuff. I took some to my bee the other day and 90% of it went.
