ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 37

Welcome to Week 37 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, you will find bits of ORANGE showcased here and there.

First up, I'll share my new Scrap Center (which my IG friends have probably already seen) that DH helped me with last weekend:

This was his second idea for making use of an odd corner with a fair amount of vertical space.  His original idea would have made use of that same space, but would have caused me to lose valuable storage in (what is actually) that HUGE drawer on the right in the photo above.

SUNDAY - I worked on unpacking today.  Boxes, bins, and a new purchase:

MONDAY - Goodbye, summer!  Today was the Labor Day holiday in the U.S. and it was a good day to get some work done around the new house.  Nothing photo-worthy, though.

I really, really, REALLY wanted to dig into this ORANGE scrap basket...

... But had more unpacking to do.  I was pleased to enjoy this view of our backyard, as it meant that all I had to do was walk over to tell DH when dinner was ready:

TUESDAY - I can't even tell you what I did today.  I know that I stayed busy all day!  I wonder what I did, though?  Oh!  I had an appointment and then (finally) ordered the carpet for DS2's room:

WEDNESDAY - I spent most of the day cleaning in preparation for hosting an outdoor meeting on our back deck.

When all that was done, I was happy to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - All that cleaning and then we ended up doing ZoomBEE, as the weather was a bit threatening this morning:

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT went LIVE today, our first in-person meeting in about a year and a half:

Thank you, Stacy, for bring donuts and the lovely ORANGE housewarming gift:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

I did manage to play with some gifted HSTs from my friend Dee Dee during the week:

Unfortunately, I'll have to settle for simply staring longing at it for a while longer...

... Because I haven't been able to decide which layout I prefer and I haven't found my rotary cutter to trim down the pieces, either:

Chime in if YOU have a favorite.

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!!

  1. Oh! That sewing room is too well organized. Starting new and fresh is so much fun. Great job DH. There's a drawer in the wall? SO cool!
I vote for the sesame seeds on the outside (second picture) as it looks more like a Shoo Fly block that way. But that's just me. Enjoy digging in the orange! ;^)

  2. Finding things after unpacking is the big challenge! Your scrap shelves are beautiful with their rainbow of baskets. If you can't sew, just petting fabric can be a good substitute!

  3. What a glorious sewing room you're going to have. The storage unit is inspiration enough. Love your orange shirt at the Zoom mtg and the mums were such a nice gift from your friend. Friends, in person or virtual, are THE BEST!

  6. Your sewing room is shaping up! So is your mat! I prefer the second picture with the floral / leaves facing inwards.

  8. I love your scrap center! And that orange basket looks like it has a quilt hiding in it-- you'll have to go find it as soon as you're done unpacking!

  9. Your scrap center is amazing! What incredible tote bags for storing scraps by color.
I know our deck has seen more use during COVID than ever before! Fresh air and social distance, but still face-to-face. Love it.
My preference on the block is the second photo. Like Chantal, probably because it looks like a Shoo-fly block, which I love.

  10. Your design room looks so well organized, and I do hope you find your rotary cutter. Mine is still missing, but I had bought a brand new one recently so was able to open that up and get cutting again. Wonder where these things disappear to?

  15. Things are coming along. Love the scrap storage unit. Maybe when quilter have to move their studio, they should pack a bag (or box) labelled "Essentials" and put things like rotary cutters, machine accessories, bobbins, scissors and machine cords all in one place. Here's hoping you get back to actually sewing soon.

  16. Hope you find that rotary cutter soon. That room is entirely too clean. It needs some fabric thrown around.

  17. Fun week! I like the orange inside better =)

  18. You are making great progress. We take storage wherever we can fit it in, right? When we start packing boxes to move, my husband writes things like "office" on the box, while I detail exactly what's in it - like a paragraph! He laughs at me, but I can find things much faster than he does!

  19. Well, you definitely know how to fill up a week! I'm so glad you're able to Zoom AND meet in person with crafty friends. They're the sanity, right? How nice to work with the color orange now. It's a favorite color of mine (among three!) and I've just made orange scraps into "fabric" for a project. It makes me happy. I hope you find happy sewing time soon too... after you find your rotary cutter!
