ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 15

Welcome to Week 15 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week...

SUNDAY - Surprise!  I did something different today.  I drove to Greensboro to meet one of my Guest Bloggers.  Let me introduce you to Miss Pat:

She down for a conference and I was more than happy to drive over.  We enjoyed a pleasant walk and a tasty lunch at Lindley Park Filling Station.  Because of this lovely meeting with Miss Pat, I zoomed with Knittingsuek yesterday:

And I did some positive quilting:

TUESDAY - Work really cuts into my quilting time (and zaps my energy, too!)

WEDNESDAY - I finished up an overdue quilt.  True to form, the bobbin ran out on the VERY LAST CORNER!!  You know?  Right BEFORE the binding was almost sewn on:

Later in the day, I raced off to the Post Office with just barely enough time to get back for my weekly Zoom with the beautiful LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

Oh, what was I doing at the Post Office???

FINALLY mailing off my great niece's quilt:

THURSDAY - Today was a work day, but when I got home, I prepared the quilt I finished the other day for mailing, but the story will have to wait for another day:

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT with me in the mix:

We had a special guest this morning.  Welcome, Carly!  Sorry that you don't appear to be enjoying the knitters' company:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I'm certain that many of them will actually be SEWING with PINK instead of just wearing the Color of the Month.  :o))

Until next time...

Mail Call Monday - It's All Annie's Fault

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  This post begins with a conversation and moves into Show and Tell.  It ends with a secret about me.  Sound interesting?

Read on...

At the beginning of the month, I read THIS blog post and commented:

The Joyful Quilter has left a new comment on your post "Alphabet Quilt":

LOVE it!!! That's one of the coolest alphabet quilts EVER!!

Here was her reply:

Oh, thank you Joy!  It was a challenge and that made it fun to figure out,
Hugs, Annie

The next day, I wrote back:

I came very close to purchasing that panel last night (after seeing your post!)

To which the master enabler said:

You might yet talk yourself into it. :-)

And you know what???

By the end of last week, a pretty PINK package arrived in my mailbox:

I opened it during my Zoom call with Knittingsuek over the weekend:

Here's the reason I simply couldn't resist this panel:

It's artsy, while being playful at the same time.

I've always wanted an alphabet quilt, but I'm not all that fond of doing applique.  This quilt panel will allow me to choose to leave it together or to take a page from Annie's book.

This (potential) project marries my real self with my fantasy self.  You see, I harbor the hope of becoming a paper crafter one day.  (Shocking, right?!?!)  I've collected supplies and watched TONS of videos, but the most I've done is create envelope journals like these:

If you look closely at the fabric panel, you will see that the letters appear to be laying on sheets of antique papers:

They give the appearance of being collaged on top.  I absolutely LOVE the over all effect!!  Don't forget to visit Annie's post.  She is a master a making a quilt panel work for her.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 14

Welcome to Week 14 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Our host, Angela, called for PINK as the Color of the Month for April.  While not my favorite color, it's always fun to dig through another basket of fabric to get inspired:

Did you do any PINK scrap sewing this week, Joyful???

Maybe!!  Let's see...

SUNDAY - The morning began with my weekly Zoom session with Knittingsuek...

And ended with a walk with DH, who was kind enough to point out the fact that our mini double azalea was beginning to bloom... in bright PINK:

TUESDAY - After work on Tuesday I met these three friends for tea:

WEDNESDAY - After work I raced home to make a cup of tea and get ready for my weekly Zoom call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

As I waited for her to arrive, I used my Prismacolors for the first time.  Well...

For the second time, if you want to get technical!  I got confused and colored in the wrong section before I received Rachel's BOM email from her Stitched In Color Pas De Deux event.  It's not too late for YOU to join in, as she just opened the fast track!!

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE is only a foul weather event now that Spring is here, therefore, when I found myself with a little extra time before work this morning, I headed up to the studio to press and sew these PINK scraps:

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT was canceled today.  Just as well, since I had to work.  No sewing happened when I got home, but I have another PINK blossom to share...

The very first of my reblooming azalea buds (that I hadn't spotted yet) opened today!

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  She must still be on her morning beach walk, as the party hasn't started yet.  I'll keep an eye on it and add the link later.  In the meantime, enjoy another PINK bloom from one of my favorite trees on our property:

Until next time...

Mail Call Monday - Stand With Ukraine

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  These two packages just missed last week's post.  I came home from work to find a package in the mailbox and a box on the porch.  Exciting!

Turns out the box wasn't actually for me:

The package was from kdspain:

Here's my Sunflowers in My Heart shirt in support of Ukraine:

There was also some outgoing mail last week...

No pictures, but I sent out a package that Kathy @ Kathy's Quilting Blog has been hoping for.

And...

An  envelope that Katie @ Julie K Quilts has been expecting for several weeks.

My apologies to both of them for the delay.

Until next time...
What's in YOUR mailbox???

Spring 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back!!

The SPRING 2022 UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on Thursday, APRIL 7, 2022. (In the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry.)

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight EDT on June 30, 2022!!!

What's your strategy, Joyful???

I'm a moody quilter.  Given the "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation, I tend to err on the side MORE is better.  That is simply because I have to "be in the mood" to work on a particular project!  By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I give myself a better chance at finding something I want to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the SPRING 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1. Jackie's T-Quilt (2021)  5/27/22 DONE!!!

2. Snowflake Blues (2019)

3. Nature, Baby! for M&M (2021)

4. Grand Illusion (2014)

5. Noah's Grad Quilt (2020)

6. Blue and Green for Parrish (2016)

7. Stitch Studio Remix (2012)

Quilting by Diane @ Stitch Studio

8. Rainbow Picnic (2017)

9. Sue's Grand T-Quilt (2022)  5/22/22 DONE!!!

10. Where's Jackson? (2011)

At home
How many years CAN a dog sit on a sewing table?  Only time will tell...

Sit.  Stay.  Good dog!
Note: This one is on the list at the request of my friend
Deb @ Happy to be Scrappy and one day I will
surprise her by completing this project.
11. Bright Eyes (Faces Workshop 2021)
12. Nick's Tiny Teal HSTs (2021)
My goal is ONE finish for the quarter.  More than that is a bonus!

Remember...
(If you hurry) There's still time for YOU to join in the finishing fun!  Sign-ups are open through Thursday, April 7th @ midnight (EDT), so head over to the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry today.  Email if you need help with the process.

Until next time...
Wish me luck!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 13

Welcome to Week 13 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Angela included our Color of the Month for April in last Saturday's post.  You might have already seen it out in BlogLand, but I'll share that (and my overstuffed Quilted Scrap Basket) on Friday's entry.

Did any more YELLOW/GOLD scrap sewing take place, Joyful???

Not exactly, but let's see what DID happen...

SUNDAY - This happened yesterday:

My week ended the way it began... With a lovely Zoom call.  Thanks, Knittingsuek!!

You'll never believe what happened!  Gardening.  It was a productive afternoon and that was followed by an equally productive evening.  More on that in Wednesday's post.

MONDAY - The morning began with the whir of a chain saw and the YELLOW/GOLD contraption was firmly planted in our side yard:

Work was followed by a dinner that made me feel like a chef.  That's rare!

TUESDAY - Work and a quick shopping trip.  Nothing photo worthy.  Just a Hobby Lobby pick-up for Knittingsuek and a grocery run for yogurt and bananas.  Note to self: Don't shop hungry!

Tonight was my Monthly Evening Quilt Bee meeting.  We had hoped to have an outdoor meeting, but Mother Nature didn't cooperate and temps were around 50F so we Zoomed:

WEDNESDAY - Work... and a new Wonderful Wednesday post.  Here's a preview:

There was also time for a Zoom call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - Work.  So... the In-Person bee meeting went on without me.  :o((

During yesterday's Zoom call, I did something with a different sort of YELLOW/Gold scraps!  I had a little fun with some yellow PAPER scraps:

FRIDAY - Winter 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The Results

No fooling...

The new Color of the Month is PINK!!!

In other news...

Today was errand day.  This morning, I had an appointment to load a car full of quilts:

And missed this week's ZoomKNIT because of it, but I got to see a couple friends LIVE and in person at the local coffee shop after a number of trips up and down steep steps:

While visiting, I played with some PINK (and brown) yarn:

In the midday, I stopped by Knittingsuek's to drop off some items that I had purchased for her:

Afterward, there were additional errands to be run.  Groceries and the pharmacy were involved.  I won't tell you about the side trip to the ice cream shop.  No one needs to know about that one.  :P

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I got a head start on my own PINK scraps:

Stay tuned to see what I have in mind for them.

Until next time...

Congratulations to all of our finishers for this session! Thanks you to everyone who participated and to all who cheered us along. Our Queen of the Last Minute (and Rock Star finisher) was Mehitabel, who completed her record-breaking FOURTEENTH (14th) UFO hours before the midnight deadline. That will be a tough act to follow!

What was YOUR contribution, Joyful???

I was pleased to add ONE completed UFO to the session totals.  A baby quilt for the great niece who is now approaching toddler status:

Whoops!  The binding was added after that photo was taken.  Here it the fully completed quilt in the terrible nighttime indoor lighting:
