ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC 18 - Week 18

Welcome to Week 18 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  We have arrived at another Transition week.

SUNDAY - In honor of YELLOW month, the garden decided to cooperate with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

MONDAY - Just in time for the last day of April, the other YELLOW variety bloomed out in my garden:

TUESDAY - Goodbye YELLOW:

Hello ???  Pink???  Yep!!  I guessed it correctly.  May's Rainbow Scrap Challenge Color of the Month is:

PINK

Follow the big PINK link above for Angela's reveal from yesterday.  It's probably Exam Week and you know what THAT means?!  No time for anything except schoolwork.  We'll be lucky if she comes up for air on the weekend!!!  (Hang in there, Angela.  Summer vacation is in sight and will be here before you know it.)

WEDNESDAY - Knit Group was followed by quilting with Needleb.  I had hoped to get more done on Dad's Ties for Molly and I did just that:

Needleb helped me with my Cinco de Blooming 9-Patch quilt.  I gathered the options from my stash and ended up with a couple of selections that didn't really work.  She came to my rescue with substitutions from her fabric closet and I'm pleased with the result:

THURSDAY - I attempted (for the 3rd week in a row) to make it to my Weekly Quilt Group.  I haven't been able to attend lately and I really miss my friends!  Because of timing and my other obligations, there are only a few locations that are remotely possible.  This week was one of those weeks...

I made it!!!  Too bad I don't have picture proof.  :o((

FRIDAY - Hooray!!!  Welcome to the weekend!  I spent the morning to find a few minutes to knit:

SATURDAY - I'm beginning to wonder where all the time goes...  Don't faint, but ANOTHER week has gone by!  That brings us to LINK PARTY day over on Angela's So Scrappy blog.

Scrap Attack Tuesday - April Mission Accomplished...

... Or NOT!!!

Welcome to another edition of Scrap Attack Tuesday!!  In this post, I will share my accomplishments from the April job pull...

However, I think I'd like to quilt it.  That would mean that I didn't QUITE meet my goal.

Thanks to the quilters who inspired my Scrap Attack goal list, I added this project from my secondary list, in case I have extra time or enthusiasm in any given month:

5. Try making something with selvages like City Mouse.

I've got some selvages sewn, but they're not exactly the competed item that I was hoping for:

Mail Call Monday - Emergency Yarn

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  This is just a quick post to tell you about a special member of Ravelry.

The backstory:

I'm knitting my first sweater.  While working on the sleeves, I realized that I'm not going to have enough yarn to finish them.

The urgent plea:

Hi!

Please forgive the intrusion, but I was hoping that you might reconsider that small bit of Malabrigo 807 Cote’ de Azure you have listed as “not for sale or trade.” I’m knitting my first sweater and the gauge ate up more of the yarn than expected. I was hoping to knit the sleeves in the same color as the body. That’s where YOU come in. :o))

Is there a chance you are willing to part with it?

I'm REALLY hoping it's enough to finish the sleeves of my Hoodie Shawl Cardigan, shown below... not QUITE long enough:

Thank you, again, Becky.  I'm not sure how far 15 grams of Malabrigo Sock will go, but I'm hoping it will make my sleeves a bit longer before I have to resort to striping like the hood and shawl portions of the sweater.

If I'm lucky, no striping will be required!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 17

Welcome to Week 17 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  As usual, the days raced by.  Here's a glimpse of the moments that I was able to catch...

Starting with yesterday's Sew Day:

SUNDAY - Tackled Mt. Washmore and quilted a client quilt between loads:

MONDAY - Same old, same old was followed by dinner with DS2.  Color me a happy Mom!

TUESDAY - Usual Tuesday stuff happened before I spent my evening with my Monthly Evening Quilt Bee members.  Here I am, showing off the new 40th anniversary shirt from DOQ:

WEDNESDAY - Are you getting a sense that nothing new is going on this week?  What can I say?!  Most of my weeks are just like the ones that went before (and much like those that will follow.)

This morning I went to Knit Group and started the hood portion of my Hoodie Shawl Cardigan:

The afternoon hours found me hanging out at Needleb's doing more on Dad's Ties for Molly:

Oh!  And a tiny bit of YELLOW sewing, too:

THURSDAY - Progress on the hood of my sweater, but no pictures to share.  DS2 had to be rescued this afternoon, as his car refused to start after an appointment.  He missed another because of it.  :o((

FRIDAY - I really THOUGHT that I would make additional progress on Dad's Ties for Molly, but...

THIS happened instead:

Instead of sewing, we went to the Expansion Opening at Cary Quilting Company.  Who can resist a SALE???  All in all, it was a great day.  Believe it or not, I only spent $15.  :o))

SATURDAY - LINK PARTY day over on the So Scrappy blog!!  I might not have accomplished my (revised) monthly RSC goal, but there is a lovely stack of YELLOW parts which will become a Quilted Scrap Basket at a later date:

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 16

Welcome to Week 16 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  It is 4/21/28.  The taxes are done and submitted.  That's the "spoiler" for this week!  For the shape of my days, read on...

I can tell you that I've been on the lookout for YELLOW around town:

SUNDAY - I took a trip to Davidson, North Carolina with several of my quilting friends today.  Beaver Dam House is a lovely venue.  It would have been even nicer, if we had been there for a happier occasion.

I did some quilting after returning home, but gave up with less than half a row and the final edge remaining.  I broke a thread going over a seam and the tension went wonky.  Here's my "practice piece" that I used to balance the tension on my longarm:

MONDAY - Quilt Guild was this evening.  We saw some really wonderful quilts from Ann Holmes, author of No Sewing Until You Quilt It, and learned a bit about her stained glass-style applique:

I think this was my favorite.  And LOOK!!  There's YELLOW, too.

TUESDAY - Tonight was Girl's Night Out.  Small group, but a lot of fun!!  I started the decreases on the sleeves of my Hoodie Shawl Cardigan.  I'll try to remember to get a photo next time!

WEDNESDAY - Knit Group, followed by sewing with Needleb, was a welcome use of my day.  SEW happy to have made additional progress on Dad's Ties for Molly:

THURSDAY - Came home to find DH cleaning the outside of the house (before the homeowners association fined us!!)  While he finished up, I did a little bit of YELLOW sewing for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

FRIDAY - DS1 arrived home from college for the weekend.  I told him that I was headed off to my monthly Quilt Bee meeting tomorrow and he teased that it's the kids who are supposed to avoid the parents, not the other way around!!  We've been missing each other on his last few trips home.  :o((

Tidy Up Tuesday - {Quilty} Orphans Find a New Home

Welcome to the latest edition of Tidy Up Tuesday!!  Cynthia at Quilting is more fun than Housework recently (or not so recently!) held her semiannual Quilty Orphan Adoption Event.  I was happy to participate and hoped to rehome three very different items.

Here is a refresher, along with the winner of each item:

Item ONE:

This is a half-yard cut of quilt shop quality playing card fabric.

WINNER!!!  Chantal from At the Corner of Scrap and Quilts will be receiving this fabric that I have NO MEMORY of ever purchasing and really can't see myself working it into a quilt.  Here's hoping that Chantal is able to do so!!

Item TWO:

Pictured above are TWO unbound, quilted reversible Snowman/ Llama placemats.  Approximate size is 18" x 13" and the extra Llama fabric is 9.5" x WOF.  There is a narrow bit of the partially quilted Llama, as well.

WINNER!!!  Congratulations to Swooze of Swooze's Quilts and Tall Tales!!  She is the new parent of the Snowman/ Llama placemats.  I look forward to seeing if these become transformed into something other than what they are.

Olfa Chenille Cutter, original price $15.99, package is open.  The cutter was only used once.  (I found a duplicate in my studio!)

WINNER!!!  The quilter chosen (by the sorting hat) to accept ownership of the Chennille Cutter is Tu-Na.  I'll be looking forward to seeing what you create using this interesting tool.

Each of the adoptive parents have been informed that their paperwork has been complete and their new bundle of joy will be on its way to them shortly.

Thank you to those who commented and those who offered to take these little rascals off my hands!!  (OhioLori included.)  YOU might not be able to see a difference in my studio, but I appreciate that there are three fewer items to contend with.  Every little bit helps when there's The Beast (longarm) in your sewing room!

Sign-ups are now CLOSED for the Spring 2018 session of the UFO Club. Returning members and new friends were welcome to join The Club! ALL Club Members should have posted their 5 (or more) Quilting UFOs in the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry or link to their blog. Sharing progress in the discussion thread is highly encouraged. Sign ups were open until Apr. 7, 2018.  All qualifying projects should be posted by Midnight (EDT) on June 30, 2018.
