ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 50

Welcome to Week 50 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Hold onto your hats, ladies and gentlemen.  This week might be a bit of a wild ride.

Why is that, Joyful???  Well, let's cut to the video tape...  Er... Have a look at the entries below...

SUNDAY - Let's begin with yesterday, shall we?  When I left you (dropped my post), I put my big girl panties on and took myself to our Quilt Bee's Holiday Potluck and let me just say, the quilters were out in full force:

It took 3 photos to get photos of everyone and I'm still not quite sure why I didn't just insist that everyone step out on the porch for a minute in order to get a proper group photo.  :o((

Anyway... Here's the gift table for our game of Dirty Santa:

Back to today...

A lovely Zoom call with Knittingsuek is a great way to start off any week:

MONDAY - Work, but no time for Wordle, as we were absolutely slammed today!  One if the Temps wore perfume to the office.  Again.  Like the last time she did, I got sniffly, my throat was itchy and  I developed a headache.  I thought nothing of it, as I am highly scent sensitive.

Alas...

Something made me test when I got home:

Ugh!!  Really???

Yes, after two and a half YEARS of diligence and I get Covid twelve days before Christmas (Eve)!  What's a crafter to do???  I quarantined up in the studio and got another series of collages done tonight:

TUESDAY - The first order of business (after emailing the quilters last night) was calling for a TeleHealth appointment.  That happened and meds were called in.  (Thanks for picking those up for me, DH!!)

Obviously, my Covid booster helped, as I was able to function fairly well for several hours today.  I slept late and did take an afternoon nap, but overall it was business as usual in the studio.  A little quilting...

And a little art-ing happened:

Heads up for anyone who hasn't had the antiviral meds...

They are NASTY!!!

The metallic taste left in my mouth was almost more than I could bear.  However, my medical history made me a candidate for receiving the Paxlovid.  Knowing that, I went with my physician's recommendation.  Would I do it, again?  Probably so.  Who knows how the virus might have progressed otherwise?  Honestly, I wasn't willing to take that chance!

WEDNESDAY - A beautiful puffy pink morning...

Was followed by some scrappy pink trimming...

Thanks, Ella!!  I had fun sorting through the scrap bags you shared with me on Saturday:

Once I got tired of standing (which is still leaving me feeling winded and fatigued), I moved on to watching a few YouTube videos.  After a bit of recovery time, I worked on a project for December's Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  Black is definitely a Dark NEUTRAL:

These HSTs have been hiding in a scrap bag from Maggie (Thanks, Mags!) for I don't even KNOW how long.  Time to make them shine!  (More on that in a couple weeks.  TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry, perhaps?)

The highlight of my day was my weekly Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color, but boy was she confused when I scheduled it before my work day was supposed to end:

During the evening hours, I worked on this card from the #deckofdreams project.  Britt made so many beautiful backgrounds, but this one asked me for some shading.  I lightened the "sky" and used my new green gold fluid acrylic to brighten up the "grass" in the foreground, then collaged on this peaceful scene:

THURSDAYI'm working on a different sort of sewing project this morning.  It's all thanks to my Beemate LyndaMac!  This will fit perfectly into an upcoming post for the blog...

I was excited to use the new-to-me pattern on an upcycling project:

In the midday, I enjoyed a YouTube LIVE with Ali @ Vintage Page Designs, working along with her to make this Mini Matchbook journal from the tissue box I emptied just last night:

The afternoon was filled with a rainbow or colorful scrap sewing...

While the evening hours were spent creating a new paper bag journal for Care December a sort of challenge to get you journaling with a focus on self-care during the craziness of the holiday season:

FRIDAY - Scrap sewing with a bit of Dark NEUTRAL...  Navy IS a neutral, y'all!!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  Unfortunately, the project must remain a mystery, for now:

After dinner, I worked on my Care December journal.  This is the first spread.  I used some long lost stickers (that I didn't recall I had purchased) when stating my intentions for participation and thought I'd mimic the illustration on the opposing page... With finger painting.  I had hoped for more color blending, but the paper didn't hold up well enough:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  Many of them have been finishing off rainbow quilts left and right.  Who wants to miss a single one of them?  Personally, I feel inspired by all the pretty colors.

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!

  1. Hope you shake all the Covid bugs and feel good soon. One of my friends also had those anti-viral meds, and she said the same thing. But she gives the meds credit for her quick recovery. I'm with you - I feel inspired by pretty colors.

  3. For someone with COVID you sure had a prolific week. Hope you feel invigorated soon. There is something about rainbow scraps that is so, so cheerful.

  4. Oh my, and you were so careful, always masking up even when others didn't. Hopefully the fact that you masked at the Christmas party will mean you didn't pass it on to anyone else. Clearly it didn't keep you down. You got a lot done being home sick. But what a time to miss work.

  9. So sorry to that you caught COVID, but glad for you to have the option of Paxlovid. My doc says "everyone will get COVID" and I'm afraid he's right. I'm up-to-date on vaccinations, and didn't know I had it, when I had it, so no drug treatment for me. Hope you are feeling better now. As for taking group pictures.... maybe you just need to invest in a $20 tripod (Best Buy) so you can take a group picture. That's become my designated responsibility in two quilting groups (see pic on my blog), and I quite enjoy it. I set the timer on my camera and jump in the picture with them. Usually they're laughing by the time I get to my spot. Feel better soon and experience the blessing of Christmas.

  10. So sorry you got covid, seems to be roaring around here too. I was happy that I had to miss attending a meeting where someone had it and likely didn't know it. Two to three days later, over half of the people attending were sick, really sick, for 5-7 days. Thankfully, no one hospitalized, and most have fully recovered two weeks later. Great projects!

  11. I’m glad the Paxlovid helped you weather the virus. When I tested Positive in August, I elected not to take it. I wasn’t really very sick. Twice vaccinated and twice boosted. And now boosted again this fall. I think it true we all will get it sometime! Luckily, maybe not debilitating.
Happier note: I am enjoying your “artsy” creation, lately. Have you always done paper and pen/paint art? I’m intrigued, but so un- creative in that venue. Anyway! Keep sharing…I like it!

  12. Oh my! I am sorry you got covid...it is relentless. I hope you have weathered it well. You did so still quite a bit of play...hooray.

  13. Oh dear, Covid, with Christmas xo close too. Do take care, look after yourself, and get plenty of rest. Someone else in the family will have to take over pre Christmas jobs this year, and maybe even do the Christmad meal for you as well.

  14. I should have taken your advice more seriously when you said to hold on to our hats. Geesh! That was a wild ride., I hope you're doing much better and the metallic taste has left your mouth.

  18. I’m so sorry you got Covid after how careful you have been. I’m glad you had the vaccines and got the anti-viral meds. My mom also hated the taste of it, but it helped he too. I’m amazed how much you got done while you were sick. Please take care!
