ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC20 - Week 10

Welcome to Week 10 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  I'm just back from MAQF and filled with enthusiasm for my quilting projects.

Let's see how that energy was harnessed this week...

On the cusp of a new Color of the Month, I am anxious to see what scraps Angela has chosen for us to work with during March.  Survey says...

TEAL!!!

Here is what I have to work with:

But first...

I'm also excited to pull my Shamrock Surprise Jacket out of the closet, dust it off, and wear it ALL.  Month.  Long!!  :o))

In case you are new to The Joyful Quilter, here is what I'm SEW excited about:

OK, back to how the week panned out...

SUNDAY - I released a new Sew Some Love post sharing last week's collection of #bushfireblocks from my quilting friends.

Speaking of sewing some love, Kat at Kat and Cat quilts released the March/April block drive for Covered in Love.  Even the newest quilter can participate in this Rail Fence Pinwheel.

MONDAY - This week's 11.5 challenge prompt for Season 11 of Project QUILTING was released yesterday.  I spent a portion of today thinking about what my design might look like.  Here's the initial drawing:

I also mailed out the package for #bushfireblocks, as DH ran into some trouble taking care of that task on Saturday:

Since the target day of March 1st was a (non-mail) day here in the USA, I'm hoping the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild won't be too upset by the delay.  (Be sure to check out next Sunday's Sew Some Love post for an overview of my collection efforts!!)

TUESDAY - Reading the news this morning, I'm concerned about Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict and her wonderful Quilt Ministry friends. Just when she was looking forward to a "normal" week... Tornadoes ripped thru Nashville, TN and nearby Mt. Juliet in the early hours of the morning.  Reports claimed 40 buildings in downtown Nashville were shredded.

Not long after leaving a comment on her blog, Sarah emailed to say that neither house (she recently moved and is currently readying the old home for sale) sustained damage.  Some of her Quilt Ministry friends were not so lucky.  :o((

It was a very quilty day.  I made progress on three different ongoing projects!  Quilting was begun on one wedding gift (due Saturday.)

I trimmed up (if you look closely, you will see that the Junior Quilter was "working" with me) more of the squares for my niece's wedding quilt:

AND got a good start on the client quilt that is "on the rails" of the long arm quilting machine:

WEDNESDAY - I released a new Wonderful Wednesday post (which you are NOT going to want to miss!) and did some additional quilting on The Model Bride, a wedding gift for one of the local knitters:

Fabrics were chosen for my new PQ challenge quilt.  I will be using an alternate version of my Stand of Trees block that I designed for the #bushfireblocks collection:

I'm hoping that it will serve dual duty, as it is my challenge piece for the Project QUILTING 11.5 prompt and one of two quilts I plan to make for the upcoming Creating a Quilted Legacy Blog Hop in honor of my RSC friend Paula B.

THURSDAY - Happy to have made progress on my friend's beautiful Blooming 9-Patch gracing the rails of my longarm...

... I also finished the quilting on Model Bride, trimmed it up, prepared and applied binding to the (now completed) quilt:

18.5 x 54 inches

FRIDAY - I've got SEW much to do today!  Alas, I woke with a sore throat and stuffy nose.  That really made it a bit of challenge to get anything done.  :o((

SEW happy to have yesterday's finish to share with Alycia's Finished (or Not) Friday link-up!!  (Too bad I was late for the party!)  I also made progress (and a BIG design change) on Hidden Forest, this week's entry for the Project QUILTING 11.5 challenge:

SATURDAY - Somehow, we have managed to drag ourselves thru another week.  We have arrived at another LINK PARTY day over on Angela's So Scrappy blog.  If you are a fan of TEAL or turquoise, you are going to LOVE today's post!

Linking up with Cynthia for Oh Scrap!

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!!

  7. Thanks for sharing. Sad with the extent of damage after the Nachvill tornado. Sarah was lucky.
