ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC15 - Week 6

This week, you will notice a HUGE change in the blocks that I've been making!!!

Why???

Well, the reason is quite simple.  Angela, over on the So Scrappy blog, announced the NEW Color of the Month.  The Color of the Month for February is PINK.

Here is another look at my PINK "basket" ready for its month of action:

I posted this photo last week, but thought I'd show it again for those of you who have just ambled over to my blog.  I won't necessarily post an updated shot each week, but...

On Sunday morning, ScrapHappy posted the first Sampler block of the month for RSC15.  The block is called Marley.  Follow this LINK to read all about it and follow the tutorial that she provides to make your own block.  Within that post, you will find a  link back to her Pinterest board to see where the block came from.  It looks really cute in Rainbow colors and multiples of itself.  Thanks, Angela!

Sunday afternoon was filled with the slosh of the washing machine and the whir of the sewing machine.  Here's what I accomplished:

THREE (make that FOUR) String blocks in PINK (along with 1 load of dishes and 2 loads of laundry - not pictured!)

The colors are true in the THREE block shot...

Not so much in this FOUR block shot (pictured with the bonus Slab block.)

Sunday, before dinner, I made... ONE Slab block in PINK!  (See the overly red photo above.)

And...

Sunday evening, during the Super Bowl, I made THREE Maverick Star block centers and got a stack of PINK squares matched up and laid out for making Tiny Nines (another day.)

Monday, after work, I thought I'd show you a few of my favorite PINK things:

The bag I got cheap.  $10 or less! The PINK Converse I thrifted for $2.50 US.  The Valentine's Jacket that I made... the THREAD alone cost more than the other 2 items combined!!!
.
And...

Monday, before dinner, I made ONE String block:

Look!  The trash is slowly transitioning to PINK, too!  :o))

Tuesday, before dinner, I made SIX Tiny Nines.  To be honest, I'm not sure how many more blocks I'll be able to make.  It already seems to be slim pickings for PINK 1" squares.  If you'll notice, one of the blocks isn't even scrappy!!!  :o((

I didn't stop there... I also made THREE "Slab starters."

Wednesday, I cleaned house (because the quilters are coming) so NO SEWING got done.  (I also spent the afternoon at DMV with DS2 who was there to get his driver's license.  Watch out, now, as he was successful.  Way to go, M!!)

Thursday, I hosted the CCLQ meeting and raced right out to work afterwards.  I got home late (with no energy remaining for sewing PINK blocks), but turned the 1st corner on the binding of my Crumb Quilt during quilt bee and stitched down another 12" or so while "Little Diaper Butt" was taking a nap.  So the day was not a total loss.  :o))

Friday, after dinner (and a trip to pick up DS1 at college), I made ONE pink String block:

Please forgive the oddly lit evening photo.  It's hard to find the "right" spot for taking pics at night.

Saturday morning, after breakfast, I looked around for some OTHER pink fabrics to work from:

These EIGHT squares are the sum total of my PINK 1-and-a-half-inch square stash!!

Take notice that there aren't very many scraps left in my PINK "basket" and I really don't want to cut into my "regular" stash, so I'm not sure where I'll look next.  (I searched through my strip drawers BEFORE taking the picture at the top of the page.)

Hmm...

Think, think, think...

Where can I find MORE pink fabrics for MORE scrappy fun during PINK month???

Oh, yes!  I haven't tapped the LARGE SCRAPS basket.  Off to see what trouble I can get into...

:o))

That's it for this week.  Make sure to follow the LINK to see what everyone else is working on as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I'll be linking up and will note my link number momentarily.  Look for me at link number 16, as I'm earlier to the party than I normally am.

Until next time...
Get Scrappy!!!

  9. Would you like me to dig through my scraps and find pinkies? I probably don't have a lot (it being my least favorite color), but it would be fun to send out a packet...
