ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC25 - Week 47

Welcome to Week 47 of the 2025 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This is Week FOUR of my retirement.  I can't believe it's been a month already!  My time has passed with days similar to when I was working, but without having a job to take up moments for crafting.

SUNDAY - Weekly Morning Art Zoom and our monthly Dare to Roll art game...

Prompt Set One - Stickers, ransom note, tea bag or tissue paper, nature, and collage fodder:

Prompt Set Two - Deli paper, numbers, frame, magazine image, and book page:

Figures by Nicole Watson, cut from Art Journal Magazine.

My Weekly Zoom Call with Sue resumed late this afternoon:

MONDAY - Errands with DS2

Tonight was our November Quilt Guild Meeting with quilt historian Lynn Lancaster Gorges.  I attended via Zoom:

TUESDAY -  I had some urgent errands to attend to this afternoon so I didn't make it to Open Studio with Barb today, but I carved out some time to attend my Weekly Zoom Call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

When I crawled into bed and turned off the light, the coyotes starting yipping, woofing, and howling.  They didn't stop for a half hour or more.  :o((

WEDNESDAY - More errands today, as DS2 is getting ready to leave the nest.  We had things to do leading up to his departure.

In neighborhood construction news...

We came home from our errands to discover this big hot pink X on the sidewalk by our driveway.  Apparently, there will be the sound of jackhammering in my future:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group @ Ella's

We took a group photo with the group quilt we made for our friend Linda.  Unfortunately, her illness progressed faster than any of us would have believed possible.  It was completed one day too late. She passed away during the night last night.  Hopefully, her daughter will find the quilt comforting:

We'll miss you, Linda!

DS2's packing began in earnest and continued until bedtime.  Just a little more to squeeze in:

11PM - The coyotes started up again!  :o((
Fortunately, they moved on after just a few minutes.

FRIDAY - The Fond Farewell - DS2 and DH headed out for their cross-country drive:

Knit Group without Stacy today:

Get Messy's Open Studio with Deandra found me playing in my Collage Scrap Journal:

No Zoom with Knittingsuek this weekend, but a nice chat when she called to check on me this afternoon.  (Thanks, Sue!)

Later, I watched this week's Get Messy art lesson with Mona and worked on my page during my Weekly Evening Art Zoom:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  Me?  Nope!  There was absolutely ZERO scrappy sewing going on this week.  I was too busy soaking up the remaining moments leading up to my now "empty nest."  Sigh...

This afternoon I met for a special Art Zoom with a few of my Get Messy art friends.  I enjoyed a bit of a gel printing frenzy for creating a collage in the style of artist Barb Smucker.  I'll share those photos in next week's post.

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Linda's passing, Joy. That's a beautiful quilt your group made her. I'm guessing her daughter will love it. A cross-country move is a big change for you and DS2, and the empty nest does take some getting used to. Hopefully, you can go visit and enjoy exploring another part of the country!
