Let's start with what happened yesterday...
Knittingsuek and I finally met for a Zoom call. It feels like it's been ages since we had anything other than a regular phone call! Here we are during our chat:
Would YOU like to see what I got done this week??? Read on to find out...
Weekly Morning Art Zoom found me grabbing my Care December journal for a quick little page. A few swipes of paint for Day 9 of Care December. I'm slowly working through the prompts:
It's BLUE month at the RSC so I'm digging into these baskets for any random sewing and for the first ProjectQUILTING challenge of 2026:
Some scrap sewing was done this afternoon, but not in BLUE:
Day 4 - The BOOKS - If you don't have enough shelf space for them all, or need that space for other items, it's time to make some serious choices. Luckily, I didn't bring home any (many?) books from the FREE table at my quilt guild last year, so my library cabinet stayed static. While it may be full to capacity and I'm not interested in purging any books this year, I did select a single book for donation. It's a beautiful book, but it no longer excites me:
MONDAY - Art Day
I enjoyed Day One of Marathon of Watercolor Light. The painting below still needs some additional details for the grasses in the foreground and the trees in the background:
AND...
When that was done, it was straight into another of Tammy Kaye's FREE Watercolor Workshops which I turned into a mixed media piece with the addition of a few pen marks:
After lunch, I continued working on the background for this week's ProjectQUILTING prompt and then enjoyed my Weekly Zoom Call with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:
During the call, I cut out BLUE fabric letters for my PQ Challenge entry:
Day 5 - The PATTERNS - Sort them into categories. One stack for those you haven't made, but still hope to make, another that you've made, and one for those you realistically won't.
As with magazines and books, I'm a pattern collector, too. My designated bin is overflowing so I'll be taking a hard look at them once I've finished the background of my entry for the first challenge of Season 17 ProjectQUILTING.
Later...
Nope! None to go. Sorry, Karen! I really tried.
TUESDAY - Tidy Up Tuesday
I enjoyed Day Two of Marathon of Watercolor Light
During Open Studio with(out) Barb - the time has changed - I worked on assembling my BLUE Donation Quilt for this month's RSC goal, but I didn't stop for a progress photo. :o((
I also prepared binding for the UFO that I'd like to finish this week:
Day 6 - The ARCHIVES - Today Karen suggested that instead of getting rid of those "special" items we've saved, that we move those tokens and memories out of our prime real estate and into spaces that are somewhat less accessible, as we don't need to get to them very often. I moved a few items to the Auxiliary Quilt Closet down the hall.
WEDNESDAY - Wonderful Wednesday
I opted out of today's painting and sewed a few BLUE scraps instead:
Day 7 - The HOTSPOT - Manage your sewing room dumping ground. We've all got them. It's time to take a look at the spot where you drop ALL THE THINGS! Tidy it up a bit today. Mine are my pressing station and the massive cutting table. I worked on clearing the pressing station because it had few stacks of stuff on it. :o))
THURSDAY - I'm on my way to Weekly Quilt Group @ Cheryl's. Before leaving, I got a text from my friend Marie. She is still enjoying the Quilted Yarn Bowl that I made for her:
At the meeting, I shared the following quilt:
I had a few errands to run afterwards, but stopped by Britt's for a bite of late lunch and a bit of arting. (Thanks for both, B!) Since I didn't bring supplies, I dug into Britt's paper scrap bowl and made a couple collage clusters:
Day 8 - The CUTTING TOOLS - If they don't cut, you don't need to keep them!
I didn't find any scissors or snips to get rid of , but I found some product packaging to throw away along with a skinny offcut of batting from the UFO that I've been working on recently.
FRIDAY - Knit Group met this morning...
Last week, I discovered that even though Deandra won't be doing Open Studio on Fridays this year, participants will still be meeting at our regular time. This afternoon, I joined in and added another page to my Collage Scraps Journal:
Later, during my Weekly Evening Art Hangout, I worked on yet another page in my Care December journal. The prompt was Four Leaf Cover, but I went with the LUCKY theme:
It's Day 9 - The THREAD - Stop hoarding it! If some of your thread is for a type of sewing you no longer do, it's OK to get rid of it. Me? I didn't find any thread to part with.
SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.
Did you end up with a quilt top by the end this week, Joyful???
YES, I did! Bonus points... It was together by Tuesday afternoon:
I spent most of the week working on my entry for PQ17.1 and you'll read more about that if you stop back by tomorrow.
Day 10 of Karen's Declutter Challenge - The PINS & NEEDLES - If the don't glide through your fabric easily, it's probably time to let them go. I tossed a few with heads that were falling off and a couple that gave resistance when going through fabric.
Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!

The decluttering has begun for you! I purged a few patterns in that category of "not happening" but have more to go through. Our guild has a quilting rummage sale scheduled in April as a guild fundraiser, and I have a box started for things to donate to that.
ReplyDeleteSo many creative things happening! Love the watercolors. And your decluttering always feels good. I need to do some of that soon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful week of creativity. That photo of you sharing your quilt is so lovely. I have so many photos of my quilts, but hardly any that have me in them. The people make it all feel so much more personal.
ReplyDeletewonderful watercolors!!! and quilt and the whole thing was fun to see

Interesting prompts on the decluttering. I will be working through that a bit this week as I now have another big storage shelving that freed up for my use so I will be trying to organize my existing one and clean up my space a bit this week. Love the water colors!
