ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC24 - 37

Welcome to Week 37 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week didn't turn out as planned.  We were thrown zinger after zinger.  It ended up a mixed bag of work and travel.

Spoiler Alert:  There was definitely no time for DARK scrap sewing!

SUNDAY - Weekly Morning Art Zoom started my day.  I (finally) completed Episode 10 of Art Journal August - Gold Leaf.  Although, I used gold paint since I don't have any gold leaf:

Britt and I zoomed for a little while afterwards:

The afternoon was filled with laundry, computer work, and a necessary trip to the grocery store.  I also pulled out my DARK/Black Quilted Scrap Basket to see what appealed to my imagination for meeting this month's LEAF prompt for the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge:

After an early dinner, I headed up to the studio for Collage Club.  I worked on...

MONDAY - I was happy that today was a day off work because it allowed me the opportunity to attend Curiosity Collective with my Get Messy Art friends:

It was a busy day at the construction site next door.  House #9 was going up today:

TUESDAY - Pleased to have another Day Off with time in it for this week's Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

WEDNESDAY - Work Training Day

Afterwards, I was ready to knock one of the art experiments off the list that I created.  This time I tried Charcoal Transfer.  I drew the portrait on the right with a block of charcoal and did an image transfer on the gel plate (not shown.)  Once the image was pulled, I pulled another print to "clean the plate" and was thrilled to end up with the image on the left with its random grungy peeled paint.  Both the portrait and the gel print were done on junk mail envelopes then added to my most recent Altered Book Journal:

It was another busy day on the construction site:

Although, it turns out that what I thought was House #9...

Was actually House # 10 and this one is House #9...

The crew also made a good start on House #11:

THURSDAY - Work Day/Travel Night

After work, I finished packing and DS2 took us to the airport.  Below is our plane just before the final boarding call to PVD:

FRIDAY - Family Day included lunch with my California SIL that I don't get to see very often:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I may not get a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week, but I will try to visit before next weekend.  No guarantees, though.

Today was a full Family Day.  The photo below was taken on the way to the main event:

Dinner for FOURTEEN at Tavolo Warwick:

Fortunately, it was NOT another late night, as our flight is a 7 AM in the morning.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC24 - Week 36

Welcome to Week 36 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week involved a holiday, retreat recovery and three LONG days at work.  Did I get started on any DARK scrap sewing done?

Read on to find out...

SUNDAY - RETREAT!!!

I missed my Weekly Art Zoom friends, but here's what happened with the blue and lime fabrics I shared in last week's post:

If you are looking for the RSC Color of the Month for September, Angela announced that it is...

DARK/Black

MONDAY - Holiday

I slept late. (Unheard of for me!)  It was refreshing.  I enjoyed an Art Zoom in the afternoon and tackled Mt. Washmore after dinner.  Here's the page I created during Curiosity Collective this afternoon. Instructor Tammy Murdock shared her Frame It, Landscape It, Populate It class.  I followed the steps, but only used paper scraps found on my desk:

TUESDAY - Day Off

I did a quick grocery run and Zoomed with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

WEDNESDAY - Work

It was a busy day at the construction site next door yesterday.  Three of the houses were landscaped and foundations were poured for House #9, 10 and 11:

THURSDAY - Work

Build kits were delivered for House #8 and 9 yesterday, but I didn't notice them and...

House # 1, 4 and 5 had sod laid today:

FRIDAY - Work

There must have been some sort of issue with the sewer hook-up, because this is what the house next door looked like when I got home from work:

After dinner, I headed upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom.  I decided to transform this page from my Artist Almanac:

Britt and I stayed on after everyone else had left the call...

When the evening was done, the page looked like this:

I also added collage and a phrase to this page in my Get Messy Art Journal:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will have a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  I still need to finish my post and join the party.

But first...

Knittingsuek and I changed our Zoom schedule...

AND...

The Opening of the Season of Experimentation with my Get Messy friends was this afternoon.  I made the introduction page using a paint technique that I have been wanting to try - lay down paint, cover and smoosh with plastic wrap, then wait for it to dry:

That's it for this week and not a stitch of DARK/Black scrap sewing.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC24 - Week 35

Welcome to Week 35 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week is full.  Guess what, though?  There WILL be ORANGE scrap sewing.

Any guesses on what I will make???

MONDAY - Work

Afterwards, I did some ORANGE sewing:

While I was at work, progress was made on House # 7...

And those busy construction workers got a good start on House #8 and the downstairs walls went up:

WEDNESDAY - Work

This is the hot mess I made over the weekend in a class with @ingridmurrayart using security envelopes, acrylic ink and various marking tools:

After work today, I headed home to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - RETREAT!!!

My retreat sewing began with these ORANGE panels...

Be sure to check out tomorrow's TABLE SCRAPS Challenge post to see what became of them!

The next order of business was making use of some scrappy offcuts:

Later I had some fun with these scraps that my friend Maggie brought from my friend Ella:

RETREAT!!!

My efforts were focused on creating a scrappy quilt back:

Once that was complete, I found a few more ORANGE scraps to play with:

Saturday - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I won't be doing any visiting today, but I hope you will swing by Angela @ So Scrappy's blog to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

RETREAT!!!

Today some gifted fabric was used to create a donation quilt.  I paired crayon fabric from Stacy and Mary with some lime green from Britt.  Sewing started late in the evening, but here's the general plan for the quilt:

I went back and forth between the cutting table and working at the machine.  The UFO got some much needed attention.  Bonus points for some ORANGE bits being involved in the project:

What a fun weekend!  One retreat day remains.  What will I accomplish???  Come back next week to find out.  :o))

Until next time...
