(Not so...) Mini Monday - SAHRR23 - Round 6

Welcome to (Not so...) Mini Monday (... on a Sunday!!)  This will be the last time for at least a couple of weeks so that I don't miss the Link-up.  I shared the beginning of Round Five my 2023 Stay At Home Round Robin (SAHRR) last week.  Our hostess for this week was Gail @ Quilting Gail Her choice for Round Six was revealed in the linked post.  Get there by clinking on her blog name.

And the verdict is...

Pinwheels

How will you work this into your project, Joyful???

I'm pretty sure there's a pinwheel or two floating around here.

This is where I left things with Round 5...

Let's see what we can find in the holiday block stack...

Was I able to discover any Pinwheel blocks?  Fortunately, there was ONE in my holiday block stash:

Even SEW...

It's a small one, so there will have to be something done to bring it up to size.

What's the plan, Joyful???

I believe another 4-Patch is in order to balance out the one I made for the Square in a Square prompt last week.  However, I think I might use this Candle block in the same size instead of making a second Pinwheel.  I'll just need to decide on which alternate fabric to use:

Which I did...

And promptly sewed it together incorrectly:

That would have been the end of it, however...

Look what I scooped up from the FREE table at the February Quilt Guild meeting:

How fortuitous that they were constructed from a basic PINWHEEL and I opted to use the bulk of them as side borders to grow my quilt's 3 x 5 setting into a 5 x 5 block setting:

It really is coming together!!  See???

Here it is at what will end up as a 60 x 60" quilt:

That's it for this week...

My growing Stay At Home Round Robin (shown above) is down on the design floor with a couple more orphan blocks added to the mix.  Even though I haven't stayed true to the Round Robin style, I'm SEW excited about this project!

With the exception of the center panel, I'm STILL not sewing any rows or columns together.  I have a fun surprise to share, but you will have to wait for the Link Party Parade post for all to be revealed.

In the interim, I'll continue to rearrange the blocks on the design floor before committing to a layout.  Once I figure that out, I'll begin the quilt assembly and will try really hard to bring a completed top to the party on Monday, March 13th.  You won't want to miss that Finish Parade, as there are SEW many fun designs in the works!  While we wait, please visit the other participants in this week's Link Party and stop back here to see how my quilt (top?) turned out in the Link Party Parade of Finishes.

Sending a big THANK YOU to this year's SAHRR hosts for a super fun event:

Until next time...

  9. It's been such fun to watch your SAHRR come together. One of the most enjoyable things about this kind of quilt along is seeing everyone do "their" thing with the prompts. Looking forward to seeing what your final version looks like.
