Winter 2012 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The Results

We have just completed the Winter 2012(Ravelry) UFO Club.  Good news!  We broke our record for the largest group, to date.  Alas, we were ONE project short of breaking the Club's Most Completed Projects record for a single session.  Maybe next time...

This session began on January 1, 2012 and qualifying UFOs were completed (and posted to the thread) by midnight (EST) on March 31, 2012.  We made one change from prior sessions.  Due to rising postage costs, we separated the Club into two sub-groups.  One group remained as before, sending FQ rewards for completed projects.  The second group decided that they either weren't interested in sending FQs or that the mailing costs no longer fit within their budgets.  All the fun and encouragement of the Club, without the added stress!

Baby A's Quilt

Baby A's Quilt by basketcasejoy
Baby A's Quilt, a photo by basketcasejoy on Flickr.
Finally!!! A finish (on 3/28/12) for the Winter 2012 session of the (Ravelry) UFO Club.

I started this ages ago, but never got around to finishing it. I completed the piecing of the center portion at the NTB4 Quilt Retreat. Added the borders at NeedleB's Mini-Retreat, completing the top THE DAY AFTER Baby A was born.  The colors were chosen by Mom and should look good in her nursery. It measures approx. 38” x 48” which is plenty big for her to use for quite a while.

With the top done, once again, the quilt sat. And sat.

When inspiration struck, I completed the actual quilting and binding in TWO DAYS. Thank heavens for being inspired.

Now, I just need to find the motivation to get it packaged up and delivered to the post office! (And take Knittingsuek's Christmas present at the same time!)

Until next time...
Happy Quilting!

TWO MONTHS?!?!?

Has it REALLY been TWO months since my last post?  Where did the time go???

Well...

February was filled with preparations, attending, and recovering from the NTB3 Quilt Retreat.  I worked only on UFOs and must say that I was pleased with my progress.

March has been filled with work, work, and more work.  (And a Mini-Retreat at NeedleB's house.)  At the Mini-Retreat, I worked on...

You guessed it!  UFOs!!!  :o)

One might become bored with working only on UFOs, but when you have as many UFOs as I do, there is quite a variety of projects from which to choose.  No boredom here!  (Just a strong need to finish these lingering projects and banish the guilt associated with starting anything new.)

More posts to come...

Be on the lookout for a completed quilt and the Winter 2012 UFO Club results.

Until then...
Happy Quilting!

MR5 - Letters, Words, and Monograms Mug Rug Swap

I'm at it again.  Being a moderator on Ravelry's Quilters Knitting Group gets me in ALL kinds of trouble!  The beginning of the year marked the start of another Mug Rug Swap.

It's "sew" much fun, even though the number of participants has diminished.  We may (or may not) do another swap, but either way, I couldn't resist offering this one.  It was suggested during a member poll for the theme of the MR4 Swap and didn't win out for that particular swap.

Today, I decided that I had to develop a design for my swap partner.  I trudged up to the studio to put on my thinking cap.  It worked!  I came up with not ONE design, but TWO!!!

So excited was I that once work began...

It ended with a completed mug rug!!!

(All that remains to be done is the binding,.)

Photos will follow after my swap partner receives the completed piece.  Wait for them.  Wait for them...

Here they are!

Winter Progress

Hey!  Guess what?

I worked on a UFO this past weekend!

Not only that...  I finished my Purple and Green Coin quilt top!!!

My friends and I got together for quilting on Sunday afternoon.  It's such a WONDERFUL way to spend a day!  Anyway, I brought scraps to cut, squares to sew, and a top that needed borders.

I pulled out the quilt top to do a round or two.  I was satisfied with applying the inner border.  My friends encouraged me to do a bit more, so I decided on an outer border.  They kept pushing me to continue working on it and, at the end of the night, the quilt top was done.

(Thanks, NeedleB and HKM!!!)

Photos to follow post.

Until next time...
Just keep quilting!
