ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 51

Welcome to Week 51 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was a mixed bag.  The highlight was this:

WHAT?!?!  You actually did some scrap sewing, Joyful???

That's right, friends.  I stitched up the base for a little mug rug gift.  Just ignore the little sneak peek about the 2022 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge.  :o))

SUNDAY - Eerie Choral music and lights through the trees out back:

What on Earth???

Apparently, it was something called the Bethlehem Experience at the church across the road from the lot behind our house.  Who knew?!

I mentioned it to LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color during our Zoom call:

Remarkably enough, I could hear the music upstairs on the front side of the house up in the studio, even though the speaker system was set up on the complete opposite side of the church (farthest away from our house.)  That music was playing so loud!!  (Surely, it must have been breaking every town noise ordinance on the books!)  DS2 wondered what the decibel level might have been and I mentioned that I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be one of the performers.  Can you say permanent hearing damage??  I think they got it.  YIKES!!

MONDAY - Quilt Guild I won the anagram game for quilters.  Two holiday FQs, but no photo.  Here's one of me sporting a happy face and our new Quilt Show T-Shirt:

TUESDAY - Oh!  On the way home from Chapel Hill last night, I had to pull over to take a photo of this holiday blowup extravaganza:

WEDNESDAY - It was complete mayhem at work today!  The final day for order to arrive by the holidays turned out to be the biggest sale day of the season.  I'm exhausted, but then I'm greeted with yet another beautiful sunset and I perk up for just a moment:

THURSDAY - Remember how I told you that I was tired last night?  I went to bed not long after dinner and slept 10 hours.  After another long day, I take a moment to enjoy the beautiful sunset that I see when I leave work on time:

FRIDAY - Glad to see the end of the week this week... Too bad I'm scheduled to work tomorrow!  Alas, I stayed late to make some personal phone calls and missed the sunset.  Instead, I got to take in this beautiful full moon (?) rising above the warehouse:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  You go ahead now.  I'll be along later.  You know...  After work.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 50

Welcome to Week 50 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week the only scrappy bits were offcuts from my latest T-Quilt commission (and I didn't even get a picture for the blog.)

Here's how the past week went...

SUNDAY - Yesterday I was lucky enough to connect with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for our weekly Zoom call.  Albeit, a little late.  I appreciate that she has been able to accommodate my work schedule.  I'm pretty sure Zooming on the weekend is NOT her preference!

After our talk (and after dinner) I knocked out the next step of my commission quilt.  Not exciting, but the stabilizer needed to be cut to size so that I would be ready for the HOT job.  Pressing will be here before you know it:

MONDAY - Memories of fun times with friends:

TUESDAY - Pumpkin Pudding from the Libby's website:

WEDNESDAY - Wonderful Wednesday!  No post, but I am happy to report that I have taken care of the final items on my list for tomorrow's house closing. Yay, me!  Nothing like waiting until the last minute, but that's my normal way of doing things!  (Not proud of it, there you are. and they don't call me the Queen of Procrastination for nothing.)

THURSDAY - Yes, it's true.  Today was Closing Day!!!  As of lunchtime, our old house is finally SOLD (and by 5PM, we had a hefty check in our hot little hands.)  Anyone care to join me in a happy dance???

FRIDAY - Banking first thing this morning.  You know?  We needed to deal with that BIG.  FAT.  Check!!  :o))

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  (Angela's membership with Mr. Linky expired last week, so I'm sure she's scrambling to choose another service.  Keep checking back for this week's party link.)  Edited to add today's link.

I'm off to work the afternoon away, but I'm hoping to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color this evening or sometime tomorrow.

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 49

Welcome to Week 49 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was a blur of work and cooking.  Let's see if I managed to get any quilting-related tasks completed...

SUNDAY - I spent the day catching up on household chores.  At the top of the list?  Tackling Mt. Washmore.  Since we were away last weekend, it had grown to monumental proportions!

During the middle of that afternoon, my phone rang.  It was LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color.  She need a bit of perspective on her current project.  Her timing was impeccable and her call got me up to the studio.

While there, I decided to get busy with my current T-Quilt:

Sorry, IG friends!  You might have seen the photo shown above when I posted it last night.

TUESDAY - Tonight was my monthly Evening Quilt Bee meeting.  Here is a photo before...

... And after our final attendee showed up:

Alas, my photography skills were not at an all time high, as I apparently moved the phone each time a took our picture.  :o((

WEDNESDAY - Was a blur...

THURSDAY - I left work to this glorious sunset:

FRIDAY - I enjoyed a catch-up call with Knittingsuek this evening.  You can often tell how long it's been since we have spoken by the length of our conversation.  We talked for almost 3 HOURS!!!

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  Unlike me, many of them are finishing up their colorful projects from this year's challenge.  You won't want to miss the scrappy goodness!

Hoping to meet up with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color on Zoom late this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon.  Not sure if that will happen, as I'm heading to the old house today to take care of a few last minute details before the upcoming closing and I made other plans for tomorrow, so I'm not sure how the timing will work.

Until next time...

Mail Call Monday - A Squirrely Party Favor

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  I recently heard from Sally.  She's Darlene @ Creative Latitude's inner squirrel.  You know how our inner squirrels have a way of taking over the sewing room, don't you?

Well...

Darlene gathered some of her blogging friends, along with their own inner squirrels and the Squirrel Party was born.

Some of my own blogging friends participated:

Gertie took over for Terry @ On Going Projects

Winnie took over for Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts

Samantha took over for Carol @ Quilt Schmilt

Stormy took over for Linda @ Texas Quilt Gal

The Squirrel Party was at the end of last month.  Darlene made some fabulous mug rugs to give away.  There mug rugs with acorns to celebrate autumn and mug rugs with sewing machines to celebrate quilting.  Sally announced that there were prizes for 5 attendees.

Imagine my surprise to find that I was one of the lucky winners...

The bigger surprise was when my gift arrived in today's mail:

Look at the darling Bee Kind mug rug that was enclosed:

I've already put it to good use:

Thank you, Sally and Darlene!!  You two really know how to throw a (squirrel) party.  :o))

Until next time...
Party like a squirrel!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 48

Welcome to Week 48 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was a non-sewing week.  Too many hours at the office to allow for very much time for fun.  :o((

How about a few highlights from last weekend and what kept me busy the rest of the week???

SUNDAY - Yesterday's lunch.  If you are in the Charlottesville, VA area, the food is good and the employees are highly entertaining:

Another day, another tasty restaurant in the UVA area:

TUESDAY - One last photo from the weekend.  I spotted a very quilty ottoman in the lobby at Home2Suites:

(Ignore the dash dust, but...) It was COLD this morning on the way to work:

THURSDAY - Happy Thanksgiving!

LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color called 5 minutes after I put the turkey in the oven.  With nothing required of me for the next couple hours, we decided that it was the perfect time for us to Zoom:

Apparently, I got sidetracked in the process of scheduling the release of that post.  My apologies!  I hope anyone who was looking for it in the middle of the night will find time to come back later to link-up.

It's Black Friday and one of the busiest shopping days of the year here in the states.  I really SHOULD have taken the day off, but I opted to work.

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

Until next time...

No blog?  No problem, you will be able to have your scrappy table runners/toppers hosted here on The Joyful Quilter.  Just pop me an email with your name/state and a photo of your completed project and I will add it to a follow-up post.

Where's the table covering, Joyful???

This is my entry, as seen on our coffee table:

You can find a few additional photos in THIS POST.  I had really hoped to make another mug rug specifically for the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge, but this one will have to serve double duty.  That new J.O.B. got in the way of my quilting time.

The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 25 - Jane from Australia

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s) here at The Joyful Quilter!!  We are nearing the end of another month.  Reliably, I received an email from Jane.  Right on schedule!  She is SEW good about reminding that I need to finish up my TABLE SCRAPS Challenge post.

Jane shared the following...

Here is my November Table Scraps Challenge, the blocks are extras from a top I made last year. A friend gave me a book and some border fabric and a challenge to make a quilt in the book. I made the top - it’s still waiting for quilting 🙄, but the extras are finished and quilted in my runner. The leaf shapes are all from actual leaves 🍁 from trees on our land where we lived before moving to the city. I knew those outlines would be used some day.

Although we do not celebrate Thanksgiving here in Oz, I have fond memories of some lovely gatherings in USA in years past,
Happy Thanksgiving to you and family, and your blog readers too.
Jane

Her November entry is this Orphan block beauty...

Give
Jane's project some quilty love in the comments below.  I know that you enjoyed seeing her brilliant runner as much as I did!  Thank you for sending a photo for the blog, Jane.  I'm happy to post your project to inspire others to USE those orphan blocks that we quilters seem to accumulate!

Link Party REMINDER...

The November 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Link Party will be open from  Friday, November 26th @ 12:01 AM - MONDAY, November 29th @ 11:59 PM.  I hope that YOU join in the scrappy fun!

Until next time...
Run(ner) off those empty tables!!!
