Purple & Green Coin (Corner Detail)
Why did I add this corner treatment?
Well, the quilt turned out a little bit bigger than I'd originally planned. This wasn't a problem, but it did present a design challenge.
How so?
There was only enough of the beautiful green paisley border fabric for the smaller version.
What's a quilter to do???
Well, what I did was take a portion of an extra "Coin" panel and created the blocks for the corners of the quilt. However, that didn't quite do the trick so you will notice what else I did when you get another look at a full view of the quilt.
I'm happy to have made some progress on my Purple & Green Coin Quilt. I picked it up from the quilter earlier this week and have now done a rough trim, in preparation for the binding.
Next up?
What fabric is available for use as the binding??? I'm off to go check...
Oh! Don't wait around. I probably won't post again until the binding has been applied AND sewn down. Come back for another look then.
See you later!

Frog Legs & Caviar (close-up)
Hooray!!! I've completed my 1st project of the Spring 2012 UFO Club session. I'm SO excited (because the baby's not even here, yet!)
This quilt began as a group of Roman Stripe/Rail Fence blocks rejected by another quilter. I couldn't believe my luck when I looked in a scrap bag (given to me by a friend) and found more than a dozen completed quilt blocks.
What's a quilter to do?!
Well, I'll tell you what I did... I immediately thought "Quilt Starter."
What a wonderful gift!!!
Down went the blocks onto my "design floor" and out came all of the various green fabrics in my stash. These gave the quilt a jungle vibe that worked well with the colorful frogs in the blocks.
The name came from the fabric for the inner border. It looked like fish eggs to me. I thought that the bright colors worked well with the froggy fabric and the green "eggs" worked to tie it in with the rest of the quilt.
I quilted an assortment of leaves and vines, further expanding on the jungle theme. Hopefully, Mom and baby will like the quilt.
If not, they can always return it! I would gladly make them another custom made quilt because I absolutely LOVE this one and will be sad to see it go.
Until next time...
Happy Quilting!

Swirly vines & leaves quilting (close-up)
This photo shows a close-up of the quilting pattern that I designed for my Frog Legs & Caviar quilt. I'm so happy that I've made some progress towards a finish for the Spring 2012 UFO Club. Only the binding remains!
Until then...
Happy Quilting!
