ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC26 - Week 28

Welcome to Week 26 of the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week has all the usual errands, classes, and meetings on the calendar.  I don't know if that will allow for any AQUA scrap sewing, but I gathered my AQUA mini quilts to begin adding them to the gallery wire:

Let's see how my days passed...

SUNDAY - During Weekly Morning Art Zoom, I worked on the MINIATURE prompt for ICAD...

And...

Took a look at some threads for quilting my July UFO and was AQUA among them:

MONDAY - Art Day

At this week's Library Crawl over on Get Messy, I used inspiration from this Painted Galaxy class by artist Katie Smith as my jumping off point my own journal pager (not shown):

In the late afternoon I met with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for our Weekly Zoom Call:

TUESDAY - Stay at Home Day

Here I am auditioning AQUA (teal and turquoise) binding scrap options:

This afternoon, I enjoyed working alongside my Tuesday Explorers friends at Get Messy.  The FARMER'S MARKET prompt for ICAD was today's focus:

WEDNESDAY - Wonderful Wednesday

The MIRROR prompt for ICAD was today's focus...

For some art done during Midweek Meetup which I playfully refer to as The Jen and Joy Show since we are the only two members who consistently show up:

In neighborhood news...

I noticed movers were FINALLY delivering possessions to the house at the end of the street:

I was on my way to this Dog Rose class with Olga Koelsch when I spotted the truck:

THURSDAY - Quilt/Art Day

Weekly Quilt Group met at Cheryl's today and I headed to Britt's for a short ARTventure the meeting.  We each took on the FROST prompt for ICAD:

FRIDAY - Knit Group

We met at 1928 Mill House Coffee this morning.  It ended up just the two of us today, as everyone else had other places to be.  Please notice Tracy's new Woolen Pond Farm t-shirt advertising her recently opened Etsy shop for her handspun yarn made from the wool of her very own sheep:

Once home from a quick grocery run, I headed upstairs for Get Messy's Friday Friends Open Studio.  ICAD's prompt of ORIGAMI drew me in and resulted in the following card:

During Deandra's Art Zoom, I composed what I'm calling "Collage of Regret" for the CASINO prompt for the Index-Card-A-Day challenge:

After dinner, I met with my Weekly Evening Art Zoom friends.  I decided to tackle the ICAD prompt of BIOMORPHIC SHAPE.  The card may need a bit of embellishment:

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will stop by for a visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.  In case you've got the following question circling your brain...

What about you AQUA scraps, Joyful???

Besides the use of the RSC Color of the Month in some of the week's artwork, I finished adding my mini quilts that included sea colors to the gallery wire this week:

Until next time...

Wonderful Wednesday - Kaffe Runner/Topper - Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club Finish

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  I'm here to share my 1st UFO finish of the Summer 2026 UFO Club. This quilt has been on and off my list since I received its component parts in a scrap bag from my friend Diane back in 2022.  It was added to my quilt bee's UFO Challenge this year, as well as my UFO Club list.

When the year began...

This quilt was one of 12 quilt projects in the running for finishing.  I held high hopes that when it rose to the top of my UFO List and I might actually find a way to complete the quilt.

7. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

The quilt top...

Was considered part of the "low hanging fruit" category for the (Ravelry) UFO Club, even though 4 years worth of listing it hadn't produced a completed project.

This year I'm really trying for one finish per month...

So when its number came up, I threw it on the design floor to see if I could decide how I might quilt it.

Then, wonder of wonders...

I chose a scrap of backing and layered it up:

Next, it was time for thread selection:

Then, I quilted it up, but two of the last three rows wanted their own thread colors:

With the quilting done, that only left the trimming and binding!!!

Here it is all squared up with binding options being auditioned:

And...

That binding was attached during this afternoon's art time and was sewn down just after lunch.

Here's the picture proof that it's DONE!!!

This photo shows off the matchstick quilting...

And this one gives a more accurate look at the coloration:

I'm SEW pleased that this quilt has been completed.  I'm not sure it would have been without the UFO Challenge hosted by my Bee.  Thank you again, Maggie, for suggesting we play the UFO Number Game and thanks to Britt for taking the lead.  This is my 1st finish for the Summer 2026 session of the UFO Club on Ravelry.  It's my 6th finish of our Bee's UFO Challenge and I couldn't be happier that it's been such a good motivator.

And...

Two days later, here it is with its new owner:

Happy Retirement, Tracy!!!

Until next time...
Mark another UFO off the List!!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC26 - Week 27

Welcome to Week 27 of the 2026 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week seems to be looking like it might be a mixed bag.  The usual errands, classes, and meetings will play heavily into how much scrap sewing I might do.

Walk with me through my days...

SUNDAY - During Weekly Morning Art Zoom, I added the prompt list for July's ICAD and penciled in each on their respective index cards.

Later...

I realized that it's a transition week for the RSC Quilters.  I looked back at yesterday's post and found that Angela made the announcement the Color of the Month for July:

AQUA

MONDAY - Art Day

At this week's Library Crawl over on Get Messy, I made this mixed media journal page using Rae Missigman's lesson from The Catalyst:

TUESDAY - Mix Match Day

This afternoon, I enjoyed working alongside my Tuesday Explorers friends at Get Messy.  The stack of magazines on my desk got a little shorter, but no photos were taken.

In the midafternoon I met with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for our Weekly Zoom Call:

After dinner I headed off to my Monthly Evening Quilt Bee meeting:

WEDNESDAY - Art Day

I headed up to the studio before lunch to do some art at Midweek Meetup.  There was no one there but me today.  I hung out for a little while cutting out letters and words from that stack of magazines I want to recycle once I've collected the usable bits.

Later, I headed back upstairs for my Watercolor Zoom with my friend Belinda...

Today I decided to do an abstract mixed media piece to complement the floral that I painted during our last session.  I used watercolor, Neocolor II, colored pencils, and Posca pens, and my King Art Gel Stick Crayons:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Group met at Britt's today and after lunch, Britt and I enjoyed an ARTventure:

Along with the CERILEAN card shown in the photo above, I made a card for the prompt "FAVORITE _____" for ICAD using bits from Britt's tray of paper scraps.  I incorporated favorite colors, a favorite shape and one of my favorite art marks:

I also made a quick collage for the SEASON prompt.  Each one is represented:

FRIDAY - Knit Group met at Beth's house with the following members present:

After a quick bite of lunch, I stopped by Get Messy's Friday Friends Open Studio.  My progress today was completing the ORCHESTRA card that I started yesterday at Britt's...

Thanks for the magazine image, Britt!

Before moving on to tackle the THUNDERSTORM prompt for ICAD:

After dinner, I headed back upstairs for my Weekly Evening Art Zoom where I put together this card for the HALLOWEEN prompt for ICAD:

And...

The ink and mark making theme was added to my Week 8 prompt card:

SATURDAY - Independence Day - Happy 250th birthday, America!!

I made some art for the occasion:

It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you have a chance to visit Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

In addition to the patriotic art shown above, I also did a bit of PASTEL scrap sewing...

Just in time to begin sorting through my overflowing AQUA Quilted Scrap Basket for July:

Summer 2026 - (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back to The Joyful Quilter!! The Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!! Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE quilt projects. Photos should accompany the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight (EDT) on September 30, 2026!!!

What's the game plan this time, Joyful???

As you may or may not know, I tend to list WAY more projects than I could EVER finish in a single session, but that gives me flexibility for project selection. While the "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation is the bare minimum, I like to err on the side MORE is better.  By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I have options. These choices increase the chances of finding projects that I'm willing to work on during the quarter.

Here is my project list for the Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club:

1.  Like Deborah (Boschart) Only Not (2016)

2. Kaffe Runner/Topper (2022)

3. Color Wheel Runner (2023)

4. Aboriginal Runner (2022)

5. Ravelry Exchange Quilt - Wandering Star (2009)

6. Bargello Wall Hanging (2017)

7. DOQ Neighborhood Challenge (2023)

8. Stitch Studio Remix (2012)

Quilting by Diane @ Stitch Studio
9. Bottom of the Bin Topper (2024)

10.  NT Ember/Lure Challenge (2026)

SEW...

With TEN  projects listed, I'll have plenty to choose from during the Summer 2026 UFO Club.  The list includes some "have to do", some "want to do", and a few "low hanging fruit" projects to get me going.  My goal is usually only ONE finish for the quarter. More than that is a bonus!  However, since the majority of these projects are on my UFO Challenge list, I'm hoping to complete one project per month.  We'll see if that happens this quarter.

Remember...

There's still time for YOU to join in the finishing fun!  Sign-ups for the Summer 2026 (Ravelry) UFO Club are open through Tuesday, July 7th @ 11:59 (EDT), so head over to the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry today.  Email if you need help with the process. (You will need to sign-up for Ravelry, the Quilters Knitting group, then state your intentions and projects in the discussion thread linked above.)

Until next time...
Wish me luck!!
