Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  Miss Pat dropped me an email and I knew that YOU would want to see what she's been up to.

Here is what Pat shared...

After tossing around several ideas, I decided to use 3 rose fabrics for the May Table Scraps.  Simple stitch in the ditch quilting...

... Another rose fabric for the back and white with red dots for the binding:

Also included the April finish since I didn't quite make the deadline on that one:

The Guest Blogger - Vol. 12 - Jane from Australia

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  I've just heard from Jane in Australia. She's here to share her May 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry.

Jane had the following to say...

My Table Scraps runner for May started out with a friend giving me a piece of decor weight fabric (curtains?) and challenging me to use it. I decided not to cut it small and have lots of thick seams, so I pulled scraps in matching colours and embarked on working out the process for braids which join each other lengthwise. I had seen a couple of pics here and there but no name or directions. I have made a Pioneer or Friendship Braid quilt, but that is one braid repeated then joined with a long seam to the next braid.

The only way I could figure to do it was with partial seams- LOTS of partial seams. Actually if there is an easy way to sew this, I don’t think I want to hear about it now!

I made the braid long enough that I could take off a piece and insert it in the back piece from my friend.

This made the runner reversible, and the exact length I wanted for my table. (The pics are actually on the floor as my hubby has the table temporarily covered with model trains.) The runner is big stitch quilted by hand with perle cotton. If you or any readers know the name of this pattern please let me know.

Thanks for the challenge,
I love to see all the entries at the end of the month.
Jane

Challenge accepted.  Challenge met!!!

Well done, Jane.  Thank you for sharing this colorful table runner with us!  I am SEW pleased to be able to share your work here on the blog.  I will happily do the same for others who aren't able to directly join the link party.

Share the quilty love for Jane's project in the comments below.  I know that you enjoyed seeing her table runner as much as I did!  Be sure to let us know the name of the pattern, too, if you are familiar with it.  Thank you, again, Jane!

Mail Call Monday - Scraps from the Glade {and More}

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  A couple of weeks ago, I got a text from a friend.  She included this photo:

Last week, that friend, Libby @ Life on the Hill, mailed me a box of scraps:

They were packed in pretty tight:

I was thrilled to see there were RED scraps for this month's RSC:

Thank you, Libby!!  I SEW appreciate these scraps from your sewing room.  I've already put two of the RED fabrics to work!  This beautiful floral one has been used up, with only 2 strings remaining:

MORE scraps made their way into the studio...

I also found these two bags of scraps from Ella and Candy when I was unloading my quilting things after this month's Sew/Craft Friends-zy event:

There are some fun RED prints in Candy's bag:

Sorry for the delay in posting, ladies.  I really do appreciate the steady stream of scraps you supply!  It appears that these bits and pieces have ridden around in my car for a month.  Oops!!  They got buried under the Junior Quilter's "car blanket" after our mid-April meeting at Maggie's and I didn't see them sitting there waiting to be taken inside for sorting.  :o((

The biggest surprise...

This arrived from Andee @ The Modern Diary the other day:

Andee went a little crazy with the making of her Humble Quilts 2021 Quilt Swap project.  After making the fourth iteration of her design, she decided to host a giveaway and I was the lucky winner!!  (Thank you, Andee!!)

I present the latest addition to my gallery wire:

Let's get a little closer so you can see all the sweet prints Andee included:

My favorite block (check out the original quilting plan) is shown below:

This shot shows Andee's mini with a couple of its new friends:

It looks perfectly at home on my gallery wire, Andee.  Thank you, again!  Your "reject" from the Humble Quilts 2021 Quilt Swap will always have a home here in my studio.

Until next time...
Feeling SEW lucky!!!

Sew Some Love Sunday - H2H 2nd Check-In - Hometown Heroes Link Party

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  It's time for another check-in with Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  This week, our assignment was to tell about our Hometown Heroes.  Our challenge from from Sarah:

I have a special request for each participant in this year's Challenge!  I would love for everyone who participates to also make a quilt for a front line worker or first responder (a "Hometown Hero") in your own community, as a way to say "thank you" and maybe even "hang in there, we see all that you do".

Here's my story...

I wasn't sure who I would make a Hometown Hero quilt for.  As I thought about various frontline workers, I found it difficult to choose just one to receive a quilt.  Alas, the more I thought about it, I realized there was one person that I saw more often than anyone else.

You know there's a pandemic going on, right?  It's better, but it's not over.  Back in March 2020, things got a whole lot crazy really fast.  The country (and most of the world) locked down, but still the mail was delivered.  EVERY.  DAY!!  Many of those days, our mail was delivered thanks to our neighborhood carrier.  This is normally the most I see of her, as she zips through her route:

Stock photo, as I keep missing her.

She is so conscientious that the day there was an unfortunate incident on the street in front of  our house, instead of waiting in the truck for her supervisor or maintenance, she got out to WALK the rest of the mail deliveries on our street.  Now, that's dedication!

On a whim, I ran out to flag her down a couple of weeks ago.  I didn't forget to put a letter in the mailbox.  I wanted to discover what her favorite color was.  Wonder of wonders, her favorite color and  the Rainbow Scrap Challenge Color of the Month for May are one and the same...

RED!!!

I searched through patterns that I've been meaning to make and decided on one.  I even went so far as to enlist fabric support from my good friend Needleb:

Then...

In a moment of clarity, I realized the phrase "go big or go home" would not apply, here!  I've got a LOT on my plate and if I wanted to be successful in completing a Hometown Hero project by the deadline, something was going to have to give.  Scaling back the scope of my project (and, therefore, my stress level) would need to occur.

Enter my May 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry...

It started with a selection of strips from this Quilted Scrap Basket:

Using the Red Braid Runner tutorial by Anorina @ Samelia's Mum
the strips I chose...

Quickly progressed...

To a quilt top:

A few days later, it was quilted during a marathon longarm session:

The quilt is shown below waiting for binding (which has been chosen), but I'm not sure that I will have time to complete it today:

Here's the selected binding, fresh from Libby's scrap bin:

Thanks, Libby!! It was just the right shade of RED!

Binding sewn on...

Late evening table photos...

Edited (eventually) to add a photo of the delivery:

Photo currently unavailable!!

Thank you to all the postal carriers for risking your health and well being in order to make sure the letters, bills, and oh-so-many packages arrived in our mailboxes and on our doorsteps!  You made the pandemic feel a bit more like "normal life" was still going on.

Thankfully, there's a vaccine now!  Doctors have a better idea of how to treat those who contract the coronavirus.  Fewer people who get sick need to be hospitalized.  More of the cases requiring hospitalization are recovering with the newer interventions.

As I said earlier, it was a challenge to choose just one recipient.  Every frontline worker deserves our gratitude for keeping things going in the face of a global pandemic.  I hope YOU will say a special thank you to those you encounter.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 21

Welcome to Week 21 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was filled with quilting and a bit of travel.  I was SEW busy that I didn't realize that I hadn't added to this post along and along like I usually do.  I had dropped in a few photos, but hadn't written a word when I went to "finish up" my post on Friday night. YIKES!!

Let's take a look at what kept me busy...

Tonight was Zoomy Quilt Guild.  Here I am, waiting for the meeting to begin:

Our guest speaker was modern quilter  Cindy Grisdela:

TUESDAY - Tidy Up Tuesday

This morning, I stopped here...

... Before doing a bit of this:

The afternoon was spent stacking quilts on the longarm:

Meeting up with Sfgwife this morning brightened my day:

The afternoon found me quilting the second layer on the longarm:

This afternoon, LeeAnna and I went to extreme measures to have our weekly Zoom call (which ended up as a phone call with Zoom assist!)  Our photo say it all.  I'm laughing as LeeAnna holds up her cell phone for sound:

THURSDAY - Pineapple SALE!!!  I went with Tiffany:

When I got home, I quilted the third level of quilts layered on the longarm:

I was late for ZoomKNIT today, but these five knitting friends were waiting for me:

Two other friends joined after the photo was taken, but I didn't manage to get another.  I did remember to get a photo a little while later when Knittingsuek arrived for our grocery swap:

This afternoon, I cleaned up the trimming that I tried to do while I waited for her to arrive:

SATURDAY - LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Join me, won't you, in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

You can see my RED progress at the top of the pile of quilts shown below:

Until next time...
