ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC22 - Week 41

Welcome to Week 41 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week didn't allow for any sewing time.  I did take another look through my LIME/Light GREEN scrap basket (and the pile of small projects previously set aside on my sewing table.)  You'll have to scroll to the end of the post if that all you care to see.  Otherwise...

SUNDAY - Zooming with Sue started the week off right:

MONDAY - Today was filled with art-y videos for a Book Launch Party, but this mindful drawing from Cynthia Hauk's Life Book session was all I have to show for the day:

TUESDAY - I opened a gift from Knittingsuek this morning.  It contained a fun mix of stencils for working in my art journals and a yard of my favorite Tula Pink fabric:

I went right upstairs to try out one of the stencils, in positive and negative:

By the time I was done, it was time to head off to meet my friend Hilary for lunch:

WEDNESDAY - Here is what I did with those beautiful blooms from yesterday... I created my very first mandala.  This one is a nature mandala on our patio:

Before work, I added doodles to the paint drip/splat exercise Angela Murray had for her students the other day.  I was resistant at first, hence the days that passed since, but warmed to the task:

After work, I enjoyed an abbreviated Zoom session with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color - I was scheduled for an extra hour each day this week:

THURSDAY - Another work day meant another day of...

FRIDAY - We are ramping up for the holiday, so I made my way into the office and managed to sneak in a game of Wordle...

SUNDAY - I had an ARTventure with Needleb.  We worked on our Board Book journals from a FREE class with @drewsteinbrecher who is also a Modern Quilter:

MONDAY - Summer 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The Results

This afternoon, I remembered that I didn't share my completed spread from yesterday's ARTventure.  It ended up a pleasing combination of my work and a few of Britt's scraps:

TUESDAY - I was involved with art classes for most of the day, but this evening I used a handful of scraps that I brought home from Britt's to assemble the collage shown on the left in the following photo, but added a few finishing details of my own:

The other thing I did was fire up The Beast in order to begin quilting this Lime/Light GREEN quilt square, but had to turn right around and rip out all the stitching:

WEDNESDAY - Fall 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

This morning, I made a decision about the left hand page shown here and glued down the bold marks you see:

Some pages come together quickly.  Others... Not so much!  (It didn't help that I had been trying to force the purple from the other side to come play over on the decidedly more green page.)

FALL 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The List

Welcome back to The Joyful Quilter!!  The FALL 2022 UFO Club is now OPEN for sign-ups!!  Participants MUST list (at least) FIVE projects. Photos should accompanied the list. Sign-ups end at midnight EDT on October 7, 2022.

NOTE: All qualifying finishes must be posted BEFORE midnight (EST) on December 31, 2022!!!

What's your strategy, Joyful???

Given the "at least FIVE" project requirement for participation, I tend to err on the side MORE is better.  You see, I'm a moody quilter.  That is simply because I have to "be in the mood" to work on a particular project!  By varying the size and style of the items included on my list, I give myself a better chance at finding something I want to work on during the quarter.  Today I'm checking in with my project list.

I scaled back this quarter and only have 10 projects listed for the Fall 2022 UFO Club which gives me PLENTY of options, but doesn't seem totally out of the realm of possibility, either.  My goal is actually only ONE finish for the quarter.  More than that would be a bonus!  At minimum, I hope to finish three of these.  My "pie-in-the-sky" goal for this session is to knock out a fabulous five before the end of the year!

Summer 2022 (Ravelry) UFO Club - The Results

Welcome to The Joyful Quilter!!  Today I'm here with an update.  If you've been visiting for any length of time, you know that I am slowly chipping away at my UFO list.  To that help with that goal, I facilitate a group effort on the Quilters Knitting group on Ravelry.

The SUMMER 2022 UFO Club is now CLOSED!!

Participants MUST have listed (at least) FIVE projects. Photos should have accompanied the list.  Sign-ups ended at midnight EDT on July 7, 2022.

Again!  This time with our "most unusual" completed project ever!  Thanks to everyone who played along and to our cheering squad, as well.  Congratulations to all of our finishers!  I hope other participants were able to make some progress on your projects.  If so, maybe next quarter will be your time to shine!

A single finish to the total.  For those of you who didn't see the post, my Out of the Box challenge quilt was completed a few weeks ago:

I completed two projects, but only one of them was on my UFO List for the Summer session.  Whoops!  How is that even possible with 22 listed quilts?  Oh well, that leaves plenty of potential for the autumn months.

SUNDAY - Today began with a bit of Light BLUE... Paint.  Y is for Yarn on today's page for the ABC Printing Challenge...

... And continued with my weekly Zoom call in Sue's World:

MONDAY - I'm still taking it easy from last week's surgery, but took some time to do the final entry of the ABC Printing Challenge.  Z for Zigzag.  I went subtle with my zigs and zags, bit if you look closely, you will see them in the land, sky, and "flowers" of the abstract landscape I created:

TUESDAY - This many days after surgery, my face was swollen this morning.  (I wonder if it was because I forgot the part about NOT bending over last night when I dropped a sock??

I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with my gel pate this month.  Figuring out how to interpret each of the prompts was a lot of fun.  Here's one last page to celebrate the journey:

WEDNESDAY - Work?  Yep!  I went in just long enough to play Wordle...

But it was a slow day, so I went home to do a few artsy things.  I stepped WAY outside my comfort zone in a watercolor portrait class with Jennifer Bonneteau @ Rainbow Slinger:

Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color got canceled today, as we we both trying to keep up with the lessons for a couple of art summits this week.

THURSDAY - This morning was my surgical follow-up appointment.  I wasn't prepared to look just yet, but was told that the site was looking really good.  I had a few errands to run since I (basically) hadn't been out of the house in a week.

After returning home, I watched @hueholdarts demonstrate an abstract landscape for the Life Book Taster Sessions.  This little 4" square was the result:

Tonight was my Monthly Evening Quilt Bee:

We had a couple of stragglers too...

It was so good to see everyone and have time to do a bit collage (like the Faces quilt collage from last year) in my Flowers Magic journal:

FRIDAY - Knit Group was canceled for this morning.  Thanks, Hurricane Ian!  :o(( 

I spent the afternoon listening to the wind and rain, but also did some visual journaling in my new altered book journal.  Dr. Minette Riordan with CreativeU talked us through using a poem, Morning Poem by Mary Oliver, as a jumping off point for our abstract landscape paintings.  This field of lilies is what I came away with:

RSC Quilters, there's a scrap of Light BLUE paint in the sky.
