ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 32

Welcome to Week 32 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Our lovely hostess, Angela @ So Scrappy, chooses a new color for us to quilt with each month.  The goal is to use up some of our fabric scraps. It's fun to see how each RSC Quilter interprets the goal!  This week was all about packing and moving.

SEW...

The Color of the Month for August will have to wait.  Sorry, Aqua/Turquoise/Teal/Not really blue or green!  Here's a preview of what might happen in a week or two... IF this quilter can find the box she put Preeti's lovely Quilt Seeds in:

My week is going to be somewhat bare (if you can imagine that.)

SUNDAY - Sew Some Love Sunday and you won't want to miss this post, if you haven't seen it yet.

MONDAY - The 1st quilty package arrived at the new house (before we did.)  No worries, Darlene!

DH was there to check on the painting that's been going on the past couple of days.  I'm pleased to present the freshly finished back stairs leading up to my new quilting studio from the garage:

TUESDAY - Today was completely eaten up by packing!

WEDNESDAY - Panic packing!!!  The movers will be here tomorrow and we are SEW!  NOT!! READY!!!

I took a quick mental health break to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color for the last time in the old house:

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE met without out me this morning.  :o((

The movers are here to do the heavy lifting.  Catch you on the flip side!  Once the truck is loaded, I'll be heading to the new house to supervise the unloading.  I have a feeling it's going to be a LONG day!

FRIDAY - It turned out that I didn't have to miss ZoomKNIT, but We still don't have internet at the new house.  I'm hoping to be online there in time for next week's meeting... IF my (exhausted) DH has contacted our new internet provider by then!

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in stopping by to see what the other RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all the well wishes for the move!!!

Please forgive me if I don't visit the links this week.  I have a feeling it's going to take quite a while to dig out from all of the boxes we brought from the old house to the new house.  (I scheduled this post earlier in the week just because I knew we wouldn't have internet by Saturday, if we are staying over there.)

Until next time...

Sew Some Love Sunday - PositivityQAL - The Block Drive Quilters Knitting Group Quilt Top

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love!!  As you know, my mailbox was a busy place all during the month of July.  This week I got a BIG surprise when...

... Our Positivity Piecing Fairy brought out the second PositivityQAL Block Drive quilt top to start off Show and Tell at my Weekly Quilt Group on Thursday:

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Maggie!!!

She warned me that this top wouldn't come together as quickly as the first.  Technically, she were correct.  From a stack of blocks to a completed quilt in ONE WEEK is a delay that I can totally deal with!

If you are new here at The Joyful Quilter, I'm running a Positivity Block Drive in conjunction with the PositivityQAL being hosted by Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts.  The resulting quilts will benefit the Mercyful Quilts program spearheaded by Bernie @ Needle & Foot Fine Fabrics.

There is still time for YOU to send a block (or two or 12!!)  We are using the Basic Plus tutorial found HERE.  I've extended the mailing deadline to the middle of August.  Leave a comment below if you would like to join the community effort.  Please make sure to include your email address, if it's not attached to your Blogger account, as I'll need a way to contact you about your contribution.

The Block Drive highlights...

Quilts will use both PURPLE Plus/WHITE background blocks and WHITE Plus/PURPLE background blocks are needed, as shown in the blocks received above. I had originally thought of using batik for the purple, but quality quilting cotton prints or solids will work just as well.  Any shade of purple is fine.  For the white, we will use solids, white on white, or white-based neutral prints.

Pairs of block preferred, but NOT required.

Since I am SEW thrilled with this collaborative quilt top...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 31

Welcome to Week 31 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week was busier than normal, but I chose a backing for my July 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge entry:

SUNDAY - I released a new edition of Sew Some Love Sunday.

That was before I was off on a whirlwind tour of NC, VA, TN, and GA with one of my favorite men.  DS2 went with me to help with the many, many hours of driving:

I thought of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge friends when I saw these two:

MONDAY - I just arrived yesterday, but today is the trip home.  A previously scheduled Mail Call Monday post was released today.

The trip.  In reverse today...

And finally, good old North Carolina:

TUESDAY - The final walk thru of the new house and then I raced off to my Monthly Quilt Bee meeting:

WEDNESDAY - Closing day and a trip to the new house to begins some of the projects we want to  do before moving in:

THURSDAY - Weekly Quilt Bee went LIVE again this week:

Later, another friend joined us, so I took another group photo:

Another trip to the new house, but first...

This week's Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

FRIDAY - In the wee hours of the morning, I released the July 2021 Table Scraps Challenge/Link Party.

We had a good turnout for ZoomKNIT this morning:

Later, it was back to the new house to do some cleaning:

That exorbitant cleaning estimate is looking more and more fair!

Saturday - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC quilters have been working on this month.  I'm pretty sure you will see Dark Neutrals along with a lot of Dark BLUE.  The variety of project is sure to astound you.

Until next time...

July 2021 - TABLE SCRAPS Runner/Topper Challenge/Link Party

Welcome to the July 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Runner/Topper Challenge!!  Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter your table runner/topper, mug rug, etc. in the Link Party by Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11:59 PM (EST.)

This month's inspiration photo:

No blog?  No problem, you will be able to have your scrappy table runners/toppers hosted here on The Joyful Quilter.  Just pop me an email with your name/state and a photo of your completed project and I will add it to a follow-up post.

From our participants...

... Or you may want to try THIS placemat tutorial by Jamie @ L' Fair Quilts.  She released it during the Twelve Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop with Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

What about this Runner from Joanne @ Everyone Deserves a Quilt?  She posted a tutorial for the Hop, too.

Later, I found THIS LINK for some really cute Mini Quilt patterns @ She Can Sew.

Got favorites???

Email me , if you have a "go to" runner or topper pattern.  I'll add it to a future post.  Thanks!

Where's the table covering, Joyful???

I missed today's deadline.  Since it was Dark BLUE / Dark NEUTRAL month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I picked up this basket of scraps...

... And packed it away...

... in this stack of totes:

SEW...

When it came time to make my runner, I pulled out a few Crumb blocks from my collection blocks made during previous years for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge:

They were turned this way...

... And that, before I decided on a pleasing arrangement:

I gave this teaser photo earlier in the month...

... And recently chose a backing fabric from the scrap pile:

Alas, my time has not been my own this month.  We were in the process of buying a new home and busy packing up the old one:

Here is my (incomplete) July 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge...

As you can see, life got in the way this month.  I've got the binding fabric from B, but that do me much good until the piece is quilted!  I'll add a new Tidy Up Tuesday post as soon as my new studio is up and running.  Don't worry if you don't see it before the middle of next month! I'm going to be a LITTLE busy.

Mail Call Monday - Shopping Edition

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  I recently did a bit of online shopping that I thought you might be interested in.

I follow Jo @ Jo's Country Junction.  Her daughter Kalissa @ Pink Shoelaces has a little side hustle.  She sells t-shirts online and occasionally has quilt related merchandise on offer.

Then, an advertisement popped up for a different sort of quilty shirt:

Sew Some Love Sunday - Positivity QAL - The Block Drive

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love!!  If you've visited lately, you may recall that I am doing a Block Drive for those of you who choose not to make an entire quilt for Preeti's Positivity QAL.  Since the last update, my mailbox has been a happening place.

Look and see...

Paulette @ The Way I Sew It sent seven blocks:

This set of six from Fairfaxknitter on Ravelry also arrived:

The next week...

Plynn sent this pair of blocks:

Then, much to my surprise, these six blocks arrived from Sheepless a full week ahead of their expected arrival from Canada:

This week...

I received six blocks from Mumsiemagoo:

And these two from blog reader Amanda R.:

Thank you SEW much, everyone!  I have passed your blocks along to Maggie for assembly.  She has chosen a setting and plans to make some Snowball blocks to accompany your contributions.  I'm looking forward to receiving the remaining pledged blocks AND seeing just how many quilt tops will be made.

Remember...

It's not too late, if YOU would like to make blocks to donate for Mercyful Quilts.  Leave a comment below and let me know how many you would like to send.  Find Preeti's tutorial for the Simple Plus HERE.  Details for the Block Drive can be found in THIS POST.

These are the highlights...

Since I'll be busy the first 2 weeks of August, I've extended the mailing deadline to August 15th.  Leave a comment below with the number of blocks you would like to pledge.  Please make sure to include your email address, if it's not attached to your Blogger account, as I'll need a way to contact you about your contribution.

Until next time...
Be SEW positive!!!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 30

Welcome to Week 30 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Our hostess, Angela @ So Scrappy called for Dark BLUE (or dark neutrals) as July's Color of the Month.  Have YOU done any sewing with those scraps?

MONDAY - A whole lot of decluttering happened today and then a neighbor stopped by with these:

Thanks, Iris!!!

TUESDAY - A whole lot of decluttering took place and I dropped off a load of stuff at the local thrift shop.  This book stayed in our library, as my "Bug Boy" couldn't decide if he was ready to part with it:

WEDNESDAY - A new post for The Guest Blogger (s) replaced Wonderful Wednesday today.  You will want to see what Jane from Australia made for the upcoming July TABLE SCRAPS Challenge.

After lunch, I got a start on Carol's latest quilt:

Look at that lovely Dark BLUE border.  SEW nice of Carol to supply a scrappy quilt top that works with this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  :o))

After a bit of quilting, it was time to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - My Weekly Quilt Group met for another LIVE and in-person meeting this morning.  It was SEW nice!!

This afternoon I had some housekeeping tasks to attend to.  Nothing photo-worthy, though.  Just a boring business meeting.  Sigh...

FRIDAY - Today's ZoomKNIT meeting got off to a good start with four members in attendance.  Later, we were joined by one more knitting friend:

I ended up having to take a phone call and missed a chunk of the discussion.  :o((

SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!  I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week.

Until next time...
