WARNING: Make sure you read the post through to the end.
Today is my STOP on the Show Your Stripes Blog Hop hosted by Carla @ Creatin' in the Sticks. This post is filled with stripy goodness.
Monday, February 22nd
Tuesday, February 23rd
Wednesday, February 24th
Thursday, February 25th
The Challenge:
Add a stripe, or two, or three to your project.
It can be striped fabric, striped binding (a favorite of mine), or strips of fabric to make stripes.
It's your interpretation of a striped project.
Anything with a stripe. You decide.
Just "Show Your Stripes!"
Carla offered some great suggestions...
I started getting in a stripe-y mood by adding a black and white stripe to my PQ 12.1 entry (just after finding out about the Blog Hop) last month:
This month...
It was time to get serious about the potential UFO finish for the Hop. I ran through my list of options and chose to work on completing my niece's wedding quilt:
I was planning to bind it in a fun striped fabric, so it totally counts:
This week, it was time to make an actual Blog Hop project...
Thanks to a scrap infusion from Selina @ Selina Quilts, I also made a fun little last-minute striped project for the Hop:
I quilted it with lines sewn one-quarter inch apart and finished it with a fun swoop in the center:
While the little quilted panel COULD have served as a small mug rug, I thought that it would make a darling pin cushion:
Stuffing was provided by Needleb, as she had barely dipped into her half of the last bag of crushed walnut shells we split:
Thanks, B!! I was SEW happy not to have to brave the cold (and the pet store) in order to finish off this project:
What about a prize drawing, Joyful???
If you've visited during a prior Blog Hop, you know that when I participate, I also host a GIVEAWAY. Today's prize is NOT this particular pin cushion, but it can be made with STRIPES!!!
Would YOU like to WIN a pin cushion very much like this one??
This one is mine, due to the technical difficulties experienced when filling it. I forgot to use a funnel. Yuck! This sweet stripe-y pin cushion got dirty from the walnut shell dust:
Leave me a comment telling me what your favorite stripe looks like and Mr. Random will pick a winner on Sunday, February 28th @ 9 PM. I'll make a new pin cushion in the color of your choice. Good luck!!!
Sorry!! This giveaway is CLOSED!!!
Have fun visiting the other participating bloggers on the Hop. There are SEW many cute projects to see! I'm going to be busy finishing my entry for the February 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge and Link Party this weekend. Once that's done, I'll check in with the others later today.

A pretty stripey pincushion. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty cheerful pincushion. I love how you did the straight line quilting on it too. Have a lovely week and happy quilting.
ReplyDeleteLoving your stripes, especially the pincushion!
ReplyDeleteAdorable pin cushion. The quilting is very nice work too. I love any fabric that is a tone or shade of the color green.
ReplyDeleteLovely pincushion!
ReplyDeleteI like your pincushion stripes and that curvy stitching in the centre. All great projects!
ReplyDeleteI love all of your stripes. They really made a huge difference on your PQ 12.1 entry! I like to use stripes in bindings especially bright stripes like your pincushion. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteThe quilt for your Niece is wonderful. She will love it and the hugs from you it invokes. I can't begin to tell you how happy your pin cushion from my scraps made me. If I win your give away I'd like it to be "Selina Scrappy".
ReplyDeleteI so love that skinny striped strip that you might add to the block. I’m making a mental note of that idea. Then, I see a whole wedding quilt full of stripes even before the add of the striped binding. But what a great finish with the striped binding. And that striped pin cushion is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteI love your little Stripe project. I love using striped fabric for bindings.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to enjoy stripes and, I'm with you on that. Bindings and inner borders get many of my striped fabrics. How about yellow or orange stripes for a pincushion to get us in the mood for spring? Thanks for sharing your projects.

Such great pincushion. I love it when the pincushions are quilted.
ReplyDeleteYour stripey pincushion is so cute. I like stripes a lot! Red and white, black and white, blue and orange, yellow and green. I can't decide, you pick! "grin"
ReplyDeleteI love using black and white stripes for bindings!
ReplyDeleteYou have stripes everywhere. I like to use stripes with bright primary colors as the binding on kids quilts.
ReplyDeletePat
What a sweet little cushion! I like stripes in many projects, so much that Susan told me that stripes were forbidden for a while; too much of a good thing perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI love your striped binding on the quilt for your niece, Joy! It looks perfect for the quilt, and I love how the stripes are wavy. And what an adorable pincushion, too - you made me want to make a pincushion. 😍 Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteReally cute pin cushion. Love the quilt. Have a great day!
Don't laugh too hard, but I am not a fan of stripes! However, I am warming up to the idea, especially from the projects I've seen on this blog hop! Pincushion is adorable and loved the colors used; otherwise, I am in Camp Turquoise. Hmmm, adding 'use stripe fabric' to my journal.
ReplyDeleteStriped bindings are always so eye-catching, aren't they? Sweet pincushion and filling it with crushed walnuts is perfect! I didn't know they could be purchased at a pet store. My perfect pin cushion would consist of purples and pinks!
ReplyDeleteI love stripes and your pin cushion!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of stripes, and I would love a pincushion! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteStripes, stripes, stripes! You snuck them into a number of projects and they all look good! For a pincushion, I can picture a slim insert of a black and white stripe so long as the rest of the pincushion is bright and colorful. But you pretty much nailed it with your original pincushion, so who wouldn't love one like that? Oh, and sorry my walnut shells made a mess. :(
ReplyDeleteLove your niece's quilt, plus your pin cushion. I noticed that you always make such a sweet comment on the Project Quilting projects. I have been trying to keep up with them, too.
ReplyDeleteI like stripe bindings, especially black and white on modern type quilts. Cute pin cushion.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little striped pincushion...love the look of it! Sweet stripe in the corner of the quilt, too. Thanks for sharing your stripes!
ReplyDeleteI don't use much stripe but I love little skinny stripes. I did actually just use a piece of skinnies on the back of my heart quilt, because all of its colors matched the hearts.
ReplyDeleteRainbow stripes are pretty--your pincushion is very cute!!

A lot of sripe play in your sewing room.
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see others using fun things like strips in their quilts. I never know how to use them or they just look funny on my projects....yet they never do on others. Hmmmm. A funnel to get the filler in - good tip. I wondered how things got filled.
ReplyDeleteVery cute pin cushion!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pincushion!
ReplyDeleteI love those fabrics you used! They really put the wow into any stripe project. You have also used my very favorite quilting method. I just love that look of improv!
ReplyDeleteThe wedding quilt came out so lovely by the way. As for the pincushion, that's adorable. Sadly, I have a nut allergy so I avoid using walnut shells for anything. Some other lucky reader will win the gift but thank you so much for sharing your sweet project.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite stripe is a fabric I used for my son's wedding quilt binding. Yes, remember to always use a funnel with the walnut shells. You can always make one out of paper, but I like the plastic one instead, since it sticks down into the tiny hole left.
ReplyDeleteLove the wedding quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe wedding quilt is gorgeous. Striped binding is certainly a favorite of mine. Your pincushion is so cute. Great stripe project. Thank you for joining the Show Your Stripes Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteThe wedding quilt is lovely and the pincushion is cute! I like the stripes in both. I guess my favorite stripe is rainbow colored--or at least bright colors together.
ReplyDeleteI think my fav stripes in a quilt was when I used the stripes to be the string pieced blocks--it was so much fun to breeze through the HST's that way! Love your little pin cushion!
ReplyDeleteIt's a cute stripey pinnie :)
ReplyDeleteI love to your quilting on the pin cushion! It made me realize to that strips don't have to be straight! I'm going to try the curve quilting!!
ReplyDeleteI love a striped binding - what's not to love. Your niece's wedding quilt is stripey even without the binding; she's going to love it.
ReplyDeleteYep, I knew your stripes were scrappy. I love it. It's so cheerful. Congrats on your newest pincushion. Great job! ;^)
ReplyDeleteWhat great ways to add a bit of stripey fun to your projects. The wedding quilt is a beauty for the couple to enjoy sweet quilty hugs from an aunt! Love the striped pincushion. Rainbow is always a favourite colour for me 😉 Carol

Lovely pincushion. I often use striped fabric as a binding, but it's not easy to find for sale here.
ReplyDeleteStripes, rainbow, pin cushion...what’s not to ❤️🌈😁?!?!? Pick me Mr. Random 🤗
ReplyDeleteVery fun stripes in all your projects. Love those brights in your pin cushion.
ReplyDeleteCute striped projects. Love the cute pin cushion. My favorite stripes are shades of blue.
