Wonderful Wednesday - Rotary Cutter Edition

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  As you might recall, I moved to a new house just over a month ago.  There are studio boxes everywhere!  I've been trying to open and empty a few each week.

There are certain things which have been located.  My ORANGE scrap basket for this month's Rainbow Scrap Challenge is among those items:

You may have read that I found some HSTs to play with, as well:

What I hadn't been able to locate is the box that holds my favorite rotary cutter.  I've been looking for it for the past several weeks and was getting really frustrated!  I needed to trim some squares before I could sew the block I had laid out for the September 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge coming up this weekend:

While rummaging through another box yesterday...

... One that Needleb be suggested might house the missing implement, I spotted the bag shown above.  As soon as I looked at it, I realized that my travel bag ALWAYS has its own rotary cutter, so I checked inside and sure enough there it was:

I could have been sewing for WEEKS now!  However, I'm choosing to celebrate the fact that a good bit (more) of the house is unpacked because this cutter was hiding from me and now I can sew with less guilt since I'm way more unpacked than if it had been revealed any sooner.  :o))

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  Jane emailed yesterday.  She is SEW good about submitting her TABLE SCRAPS Challenge that I'm not sure I would remember to post the Link Party without her prompting!  (Especially, these last couple of months.)

Here is my runner for September- no special story on this one. A friend gave me some scraps, I added some of mine too and the runner just went together without problem. It’s a bit smaller than some others I have made but a change in size, as well as colour and design, can be good thing.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 38

Welcome to Week 38 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  ORANGE month is in full swing.  If you visited last week, you know that I'm falling a bit behind on my RSC sewing.

Let's see how I did this week...

SUNDAY - Sew Some Love Sunday

I spent the early afternoon emptying the kitchen boxes that DH and DS2 brought home from the old house last night.  Later in the day...

MONDAY - I spent much of the day in a virtual seminar.  When I wasn't watching, I was unpacking boxes.  Things are starting to come together in the new kitchen.

TUESDAY - Today was another day of online classes.  My goal for the day was to clean and straighten up the rest of the kitchen, as DS1 is planning to visit this weekend.

WEDNESDAY - I got a package in today's mail:

This afternoon was my weekly Zoom call with my friend LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color and we must have gotten the color code memo: 

THURSDAY - ZoomBEE went LIVE this morning:

I went home with some contraband, as Dee Dee had prepared a bag of scraps for me:

Thanks, Dee Dee!! Cheesy grins all around.  LOL!

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT met this morning with only a few participants:

During the meeting, I heard a noise and went to investigate.  Apparently, FedEx thought this was a good place to deliver my new storage cubbies, as opposed to putting them on my large covered front porch:

Sew Some Love Sunday - LWR - Quilt Number TWENTY!!!

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love!!  A while back, I showed you a quilt top that Britt had put together at a Sew Day at my house.  Was that REALLY at the beginning of the summer?!  You can read more about that HERE.

She finished the quilt top that day...

And then it sat.

Britt managed to fit the project into her longarming schedule a week or so ago.

Once again...

The quilt sat.

Yesterday its patience was rewarded...

Here is a photo of the fully completed Quilt Number TWENTY:

Didn't she do a great job with the fabrics that Nann @ With Strings Attached provided for our LWR Mission Quilt Drive?  Britt admits to supplying a few squares of her own.  It worked out SEW well.

Special thanks to Britt!!  I appreciate the time, effort, and materials that you donated to complete this quilt.  With this finish, we have quadrupled my "pie in the sky" goal for this effort to benefit Lutheran World Relief.

Would you believe there are still MORE quilts to come???

It will be a while yet, as last few contributors have some other things to take care of before their block kits can be sewn into quilt tops.

Don't worry!  I'll let you know when they are received.

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 37

Welcome to Week 37 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, you will find bits of ORANGE showcased here and there.  

First up, I'll share my new Scrap Center (which my IG friends have probably already seen) that DH helped me with last weekend:

This was his second idea for making use of an odd corner with a fair amount of vertical space.  His original idea would have made use of that same space, but would have caused me to lose valuable storage in (what is actually) that HUGE drawer on the right in the photo above.

SUNDAY - I worked on unpacking today.  Boxes, bins, and a new purchase:

MONDAY - Goodbye, summer!  Today was the Labor Day holiday in the U.S. and it was a good day to get some work done around the new house.  Nothing photo-worthy, though.

I really, really, REALLY wanted to dig into this ORANGE scrap basket...

... But had more unpacking to do.  I was pleased to enjoy this view of our backyard, as it meant that all I had to do was walk over to tell DH when dinner was ready:

TUESDAY - I can't even tell you what I did today.  I know that I stayed busy all day!  I wonder what I did, though?  Oh!  I had an appointment and then (finally) ordered the carpet for DS2's room:

WEDNESDAY - I spent most of the day cleaning in preparation for hosting an outdoor meeting on our back deck.

When all that was done, I was happy to Zoom with LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color:

THURSDAY - All that cleaning and then we ended up doing ZoomBEE, as the weather was a bit threatening this morning:

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT went LIVE today, our first in-person meeting in about a year and a half:

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 36

Welcome to Week 36 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week is a transition week, so we will say goodbye to AQUA/TEAL/TURQUOISE and hello to a new Color of the Month.  I wonder what Angela will choose.  What's your best guess?

Read on to find out what scrappy happenings occurred in the past seven days...

SUNDAY - I spent the afternoon working in the new studio.  I mentioned the progress in the following email to Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict:

DH set up a series of fans throughout the 2nd floor in an effort to cool the studio. It worked! The temperature dropped to 80 and I was able to get a good bit done yesterday (with help and moral support from my good friend B.) 3 boxes were emptied completely and another 5 were divested of the books held within. Portions of 6 bins were put away and thanks to DS2, I've got a plan for bringing 2 chests of drawers into the room for additional fabric storage. Yep! It was a good day.

Thank you to my friend Beth who stopped by yesterday to drop off a bag of delicious Cookie Gurlie cookies, a pot of mums for the front porch, and a fan (on loan) for the studio so that I could get some work done in there:

MONDAY - Work continued in the studio, but you didn't get to see what happened yesterday.  The room, according to B (who was on hand to help me), is starting to look a bit more Joyful:

TUESDAY - The library is looking good, but this was the best photo I could get, as there is still a tall row of boxes across from the bookshelf and it's blocking the light:

This evening, my Monthly Quilt Bee met LIVE @ the back of the parking lot across from Whit's Frozen Custard:

WEDNESDAY - Welcome to September!  There's been no word from Angela regarding the new Color of the Month, but I believe it will be ORANGE or Light/Bright GREEN.  Incorporate both in your September 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge and you'll be set!  OK, ok... You can wait for the official word, if you want.  :o))

This morning, I did find that Kat @ Kat and Cat Quilts released the Fall Block Drive for Covered in Love.  It looks like a fun one and she's going with Fall colors.  I hope YOU might be inspired to send a block (or 2 or 10!!)

FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT was a small affair this morning:

I had two appointments scheduled this afternoon and managed to move another load of stuff out of my old studio afterwards.  Let me tell you, I am SEW tired, but all that's left is a couple of boxes, a couple of bins, and the longarm!!

Angela did post a link party and has decided on ORANGE for September's Color of the Month.  Have fun with that, Quilters!  Pumpkins? Autumn leaves?  SEW many possibilities for fabric play.

Wonderful Wednesday - The Cutting Table Edition

Welcome to a new edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  I've got something exciting to share.

The idea...

We were in the process of buying a new house while my friend Ella was getting ready to sell her house.  I decided that I would probably have enough space for the cutting table that she was no longer going to have room for.  Lucky for me, she hadn't had any takers!

The retrieval...

My friend Maggie offered her truck and assistance in moving the cutting table to our new house.  We arrived early one morning in late July.  This is the sight we saw:

A drill and the table top:

Ella's handy husband was disassembling the components:

I tried to get photos from all the angles so that my own handy husband could reassemble it:

Ella was staying out of the way:

I tried to get a look at the location of all the connection points:

Once the top was off, the "table" is comprised of five assorted kitchen base cabinets:

I tried to get a good picture of the layout:

Maggie held the spacer in place so that we would know where it belonged:

DH was able to sort out the puzzle of what went where, but then there was a delay while we unpacked much of the rest of the house:

Late one night, the time for putting my new cutting table together arrived:

DH opted for leaving the cabinets upright and meeting the connection points where they sat:

Reinforcements were called in to help with the table top:

DS2 also helped me install the 40" x 72" cutting mat:

The next morning, I went up to the studio to get a photo of my new cutting table:

The room is still a work in progress, but I'm pleased to report that DH even found a near-perfect storage bin to fill the gap beside the narrow cabinet:

Thank you to Ella, Barry, and DS2 for the work they put into this adventure.  As much as I appreciate them, the table wouldn't have come together without the assistance of DH and my friend Maggie!  DH's puzzle solving and construction skills were instrumental in getting the table reassembled.
