Mystery Monday Link-Up! En Provence! Part 7!! The FINALE!!!

Welcome to the Mystery Monday Link-Up FINALE!!  En Provence was presented by Bonnie Hunter and is now available as a stand alone pattern on her website.

Today is the day that quilters from around the globe share their progress... many of them completed quilts or tops.  Me??

Anyway... It's NOT that I don't like this quilt because I absolutely LOVE it!! The fact of the matter is that I have many other projects and obligations claiming hours of my days that might otherwise be used to complete this quilt.

The good news is that I just signed up for Quilt Camp and plan to take this project with me to work on.  I will take along a few small projects to keep me entertained, as well, but this will be my focus.

Don't get TOO excited... Quilt Camp isn't until October!!  :P

Sew Some Love Sunday - Quilts for Cure

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  Kat's Link-up has been a good reminder to do some charitable sewing each week.  I'm really glad that she started this!

This week I chose fabric for the borders of my Law Enforcement Appreciation quilt:

Switching gears...

I visited Quilts for Cure, thanks to a nudge from Valerie at Evening in the Garden Quilts.  The heart blocks being collected by HollyAnne are just like the ones that The Nimble Thimbles and Cherry Creek Lane Quilters made for the Pulse Quilts that we sent to Orlando last year.  The only difference is the color!

Blocks for Quilts for Cure are to be made in blue, yellow, and white.  I'm pretty sure that I have some fabrics that will work. Also... I feel certain that there may still be time to make a few blocks!!  Time, maybe.  The right sized fabric scraps, no.  :o((

Here is how my ONE block progressed...

 Some of you may recognize my Hera Marker.  I just wasn't in the mood to use my "regular" marking pens and the "indention" made by the Hera Marker was just enough to get the job done:

Double-sewing the angles results in "Bonus" Triangles (not pictured.)  I use them for other projects instead of discarding:

Bonus Triangles are trimmed away and stored for future use:

The pressing was done...

... And the block was completed:

**  If you missed the February 14th mailing date, you might like to participate by making a 20-block quilt top and sending that off.  If you choose that option, send an email to HollyAnne so that she will be expecting it.  Surely, if you mail a quilt top by the end of the week, she'll still be able to quilt it.  You will have saved her a step in the quilt making process.  If you are REALLY inspired, I'm sure she would accept completed quilts made with that Heart pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew!

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC17 - Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  I am SEW grateful that Angela has kept this LINK PARTY going.  It brightens my weekends and urges me to dig into my scrap bins. Thanks!!

Let's see how this week played out...

SUNDAY - After finishing my SEW SOME LOVE link post, I went to sew with friends.  (I use the term loosely, since I didn't SEW a stitch!!)  I trimmed the last of the blocks for the T-Quilt... TURQUOISE in the mix:

And... sorted through Britt's SEA GREEN scraps (knicked a few, too!)  These are the ones that I pressed for Super Bowl Sewing:

Too bad the game changed during the 4th quarter!!  :o((

MONDAY - Knit Group started the day off right.  NOT!!  I took a trip around the world with my friend, Tiffany.  Went from Hillsborough to Kings Mountain and back today, including a stop at Mary Jo's and IKEA.  It was a good, but exhausting day.  I was up at 5 AM!!!  Met at 5:45 and didn't get home until around 3:45 PM.

I did have a few SEA GREEN sightings at Foust...

And AQUA at IKEA:

I decided that I needed to switch nail color when I got home:

FOUR different shades of SEA GREEN for the RSC!!!

Along with (a daylight glimpse of) my Super Bowl block.

TUESDAY - My FREE day!!  The first thing that I did was write up last week's monthly Quilt Bee meeting notes.  My NEW notebook just happens to be in February's Color of the Month:

The next thing I did was go meet a friend for coffee, followed by lunch and some shopping.  TURQUOISE sightings...

WEDNESDAY - My WORK day!!  Several quilt projects vied for my attention (including linking my Sew Some Love Sunday post with Kat's SEW SOME LOVE Link-up, along with a few errands and some cleaning.)

THURSDAY - Is it my imagination or are weeks getting SHORTER?!?!  I did manage ONE String block for the Rainbow Strings expansion project:

FRIDAY - Another busy day, but the afternoon was devoted to finishing ONE green String block:

My friend, Bo, gave me a bag of HST makers... with AQUA background.  It made for the perfect Leader/Ender...

I made progress on my SEA GREEN Scrap Jar Stars!!

However, I determined that I was too tired to do any more sewing.
SEW... Additional progress will have to wait for tomorrow.

Camp Heartland

The camp is for kids from age 7 - 15 who have HIV or AIDS. Quilt Odessey is making pillow cases for the collection that Tubaville on Instagram is assembling.  If this cause speaks to your heart and you are on Instagram, please send her a DM. The donations are given in the name of Team Friendship Quilts and will be collected until June 2017.  (If I really did post this before, please disregard.)

In other news... 

Mid-week, I went to visit my quilting friend, J., she and I worked on our WIPs, mine being the Law Enforcement Quilt.

Take a look at the completed top:

Embellishments still need to be added.  The patch and the creed.  
This will be followed by layering and quilting.  Binding and a label will tie up the project.  Then comes delivery day!!

OK, so just maybe I'm getting a TINY bit ahead of myself.  LOL

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC17 - Week 5

My scrap baskets are overflowing!!!

Welcome to Week 5 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This is an exciting week over on So Scrappy, as Angela will be hosting a NEW LINK PARTY.  (Look for that on Tuesday.)

My week looked something like this...

On SUNDAY, I cut into THESE scraps for my Law Enforcement Appreciation Quilt:

MONDAY morning, I was off to Knit Group.  The afternoon was for... FINISHING!!!  See THIS POST for more about that.

Angela also put out a post.  January's Color of the Month is:

Well, technically, Sea Green!  Here is what she had to say:

"Sea Green will be the color for February.  Anything between blue and green will work.  From teal, to aqua to turquoise. Try to find anything that isn't happy with blue or green but plays somewhere in between."

On TUESDAY, I thought I might have the ENTIRE day to sew.  After joining Angela's NEW Month End Celebration LINK PARTY, I worked on some GREEN String blocks:

Alas, I didn't have all day to sew because I had some business to attend to.  Pesky bills demand to be paid.  :o((

WEDNESDAY was Transition Day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  This is the day that we officially say Goodbye:

A couple of projects, actually.  I started with my Law Enforcement Appreciation Quilt and once that (top) was done:

I switched gears and cut about half of the shirts for my current T-quilt.  The Hedgehog Quilt is progressing:

On THURSDAY, I found a few minutes before dinner to sew another green string (or two) for the expansion of Rainbow Strings:

I spy some SEA GREEN in there... Hooray!!  It counts for a bit of RSC sewing for the week.  :o))

FRIDAY evening, I made a (very) small dent in my AQUA/TEAL scraps by cutting into them in preparation for February's Scrap Jar Star blocks:

I seem to have 3 or 4 different colorways in there .  It should be interesting to see how these fabrics play out in February's block production!!  I do know that I need to find a source for some AQUA strings to finish the expansion project on Rainbow Strings.

Any suppliers out there???  I will gladly accept a strip infusion!

On SATURDAY, I joined Angela's LINK PARTY and got lost in an ocean of SEA GREEN scrap projects being made by all of the other Rainbow Scrap Challenge Quilters.

Wonderful Wednesday - It's "Spring" Time!!

A Winter 2017 (Ravelry) UFO Club FINISH!!!

Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!  OK, so I just MIGHT have gotten a LITTLE bit ahead of myself.  While it really is the middle of winter... It's time for everyone to join me in a happy dance.

Why, Joyful???

Because I finished The Tiffany Mystery: Think Spring!!!

Have a look:

The HSTs for this quilt sat patiently in a basket for 10 or 12 YEARS... neglected.  Waiting.  Waiting for me to sew them into a quilt top and, subsequently, a completed quilt.

TODAY is that day!!!  (Well, technically, that day was Monday.)

I'm VERY excited to have this longstanding UFO marked off my list!  After quilting, but before a trip through the washer and dryer, Think Spring measures ~ 61" x 73".

This quilt was a tale of old meets new.

The OLD:  The purple in the quilt was from my scrap stash back when DS1 was in kindergarten... he's a senior now... in COLLEGE!!!  The green may have been from back then, as well.  The black was donated by the quilt's designer, my dear old quilting buddy, Tiffany.  (I'm pretty sure it was EVEN OLDER than the purple and green!!)  Those pink and golden yellow prints on the front came from my (mid-2000's) fabric stash.  Same with the background.

And the NEW:  Border, binding, and backing fabrics came from New Beginnings Quilt Shop during a side-trip with Knittingsuek at SAFF 2016.  I was amazed to find ANYTHING that remotely went with my OLD fabrics!!

Mixing the old and the new REALLY worked, in this case.  They blended to form a cohesive whole.  A wonderfully sweet quilt that I am quite pleased with...

Even if I'm NOT "a pink girl!!!"  :P

The quilting on Think Spring was done by me on my APQS Millennium Longarm Quilting Machine.  I used my favorite Loricle Template Board.  Let's just say...  There was a BIT of a Learning Curve.

Which is why I seriously considered officially changing the name of the quilt... to Learning Curve!!
