Community Quilts from The Junction - The Farmed Out Quilt Top

Welcome to the first installment of a new series of posts titled Community Quilts from The Junction!!  Let me explain.

Not long ago, I signed up to do some finishing for an online charity quilt program.  Fabric, blocks, and quilt tops are delivered to a central point for redistribution.  Finishers (like me) take the fabric to make blocks, take the blocks to make tops, or take the tops to complete the quilts.  The completed quilts are donated to any charity organization of the finishers choosing.  The only stipulation is that we report back to Jo @ Jo's Country Junction.

The top and bottom quilt on this stack arrived several weeks ago:

You can find that story in THIS post about the quilts that I finished for Hands2Help.

Here is a(nother) chapter in the story of my first shipment...

This is the third of seven quilt tops sent to me by Jo.  This is a quilt that may have been made by the Cresco Ladies:

Needleb took it home and quilted it on her longarm:

B tried out a new panto on this:

Just look at that lovely texture:

She trimmed it up and bound it:

Another take on an interior photo:

A close-up:

Another look at the glorious texture:

The quiltmaker used a strip pieced pattern for this scrappy quilt to make a cohesive whole and B's quilting added to that:

This sweet pink quilt will soon be on its way to Quilty Hugs for Happy Chemo.  Needleb was SEW grateful for the opportunity to finish this for the Community Quilts program at Jo's Country Junction.  It allowed her to contribute to this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Drive with Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

NOTE:  The panto used can be found at THIS LINK.

Until next time...

H2H21 - Help from The Junction

Welcome to my 2021 Hands2Help finished quilts post!!  I'm here to share my contributions to two of the participating charities.

I started out making blocks inspired by Sarah's first tutorial in this year's String Therapy series.  I continued making blocks and eventually finished enough for a quilt, but got bogged down at the assembly phase. Those will turn into a quilt sometime in the future and won't be counted in this year's numbers.  :o((

Enter Jo @ Jo's Country Junction...

She saved my skin on this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge!  Thanks to contributions from Jo's readers @ Jo's Country Junction, I had quilt tops ready to be quilted.

I was determined to knock out my donation in one fell swoop...

The photo below shows FOUR of my H2H quilts loaded on the frame at once!  The two in the foreground came from Jo's generous readers:

Here they are trimmed...

 ... And waiting for binding:

I tried to pull some binding from the leftovers drawer:

That tactic worked a bit better for this quilt:

A donation for Quilty Hugs Happy Chemo...

This adorable Log Cabin Kitties quilt top came from Barb in Denver:

It was bound with a scrap from Wendy @ The Constant Quilter:

Here is a finished photo...

... Along with a close-up of the pieced center:

A donation for Covered in Love, in memory of Paula B...

I believe this quilt top may have been from the Cresco Ladies.  They are prolific quiltmakers who live a few towns over from Jo:

This photo was taken in the studio just after the binding was complete:

I tried to get a good "floor photo"...

... Including a shot of the backing that I provided:

The next day...

It was actually too sunny to get a good photo:

Then a storm blew in and it was too windy... and later, too rainy:

Thank you to my assistant, Knittingsuek!!

The top and bottom quilts in this stack are ready to head off to their new homes:

More about the other quilt in another post.

Thank you, Jo, for helping me help others!  These quilts will be out in the mail by the end of the week.

Until next time...

Sew Some Love Sunday - LWR {and More} - The Arrival of JCJ Community Quilts

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  I thought you might like to see what arrived in the mail this week.

Are you sitting down???

If not, you might want to, because have I got a surprise for you!!

Quilt tops.

Not just any quilt tops.  Quilt tops from the Community Quilts program sent along by Jo @ Jo's Country Junction:

Jo sent the following quilts for the Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilt Drive.  Unfortunately, some don't meet the qualifications of inclusion.  Specifics for contributions were shared in THIS POST.  Fortunately, Jo is happy for the quilt tops to be donated to any other charitable causes.  Those are destined to become quilts for this year's Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Drive hosted by Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict.  Today is the 2nd check-in.  I will sort the quilt tops soon, but for now...

Would you like a better look at them???

I thought you might.  :o))

Quilt top Number ONE is made from scrappy Bow Tie blocks:

Quilt top TWO came compliments of Barb in Denver:

Quilt top THREE came with borders and binding:

Number FOUR seems to be one of a collection of String quilts:

Quilt top FIVE was another of the same setting:

Quilt top SIX seemed to be from the same collection, but used a different setting:

Quilt top SEVEN was this sweet pink scrap quilt:

Sending out a BIG shout out to Jo for offering these quilt tops from her generous readers for finishing.  Some of them need a little enhancement to bring them up to size, but I'm hoping that Maggie will be up to the task.  Thank you, Jo, for passing these along, as this project wouldn't even exist without you!!

If you aren't sure what I'm talking about...

Check out the opening post HERE.  All subsequent posts in the series can be found at the Donations tab in header at the top of the blog.

Until next time...
Send some LOVE!!!
