August 2025 - TABLE SCRAPS Challenge - Link Party

Welcome to the AUGUST 2025 edition of the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge here at the Joyful Quilter!!  I'll start with a little backstory, in case you are new here.  (Apologies to my regular readers since you already know all about it.) I'm a scrap quilter who had been setting up individual challenges for several years in conjunction with Angela's (RSC) Rainbow Scrap Challenge @ So Scrappy.  Participants from around the corner, across the country and around the world have been having SEW much fun and we all have MORE scraps to use, so I am pleased to offer the...

In 2025, we have a broad range of quilted items that are appropriate for linking to the Challenge.  Baskets and bins, along with pillows and pin cushions, are all qualifying projects.  Not just the toppers, runners, and mug rugs.  Basically, ANY quilted item qualifies.  The main premise is that you USE the (new or old) SCRAPS from your cutting table (or your friend's cutting table - since that's where the majority of my scraps come from!)

There will be a prompt each month to help get your creative juices flowing.  While you are NOT required to use it in your project, the guiding word will be revealed at the end of each month's LINK PARTY post.  Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the following month's focus.  It, along with the RSC Color of the Month (as soon as Angela releases it - around the 1st of the month.) will also be added to the 2025 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page at the top of the blog.

This month's color was:

AQUA

Here are the scraps I had to work with:

The theme for August was:

HOT FLASH

What project did you choose, Joyful???

Well, I started with some pretty small scraps from my big bucket of batiks in cool colors:

Then I selected some bright warm strips...

And paired those together:

Here's how they looked before trimming:

If the sea colors were large enough, I sliced them in half for the other side.  If not, there were some pairs of strips.  The hot colors were cut to slim slices before attaching the other side:

I went simple this time...

This is the layout I came up with:

A scrap of batting and an offcut of some batting was soon layered...

And the quilting went quickly:

Once that was done, I squared up the little quilt...

Selected some binding strips and texted Britt for a "Quilt by Committee" session:

Here is my completed August 2025 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge project...

~5" x 8"

What's next, Joyful???

I'm guessing that Angela will probably announce the Color of the Month for September on her Rainbow Scrap Challenge post tomorrow.  I'll post an update as soon as I discover her choice:

PASTEL BLUE and/or PASTEL GREEN

September's theme is:

RADIO / TELEVISION

NOTE:  Programs, jingles, the objects themselves?  Go wherever your muse takes you.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you are inspired to make with this theme!  Will it be the object, a jingle or show title, or the image of your favorite character?  Remember, while I look forward to seeing what you might make using the month's prompt, you are NOT required to use the suggestion I've provided!!  The main goal is using up some of your scraps.  I have to say, I'm unsure of how I might interpret our September challenge!

And now...

It's time for YOU to link up your HOT FLASH and/or AQUA project in the LINK PARTY below.
All entries MUST be submitted by Wednesday, September 3rd @ 11:59PM (EDT).

Until next time...
USE those table scraps!!!

  1. Your little quilt is delightful, Joy! I love that design, and the colors, too - orange with aqua is so pretty. Somehow my June TS project is linked up here, too, but I didn't do that - I have a new one just for August! Have a great Friday!

  5. Your orange with aqua looks great together and love the differing angles of the inserts! I tried to link up my August post but it didn't appear. I just didn't want to keep trying and have it appear a million times... :)
