Sew Some Love Sunday - Thomas Advances

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!  This past week, additional work was done on my Quilt Bee's Thomas Fire relief quilt.

Additional blocks were provided by our members, along with fabric rectangles so that the border can be attached when the rows are being assembled:

Needleb and I spent a happy afternoon getting the layout just right.

Here is the final design:

All that remains now is needle and thread.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18 - Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week, I concentrated on settling into my new schedule.  Not a lot of PURPLE sewing took place.  :o((

SUNDAY - Laundry filled my free time.  (I know, BIG thrill, right?!)  Well, that and the Super Bowl (American Football tradition.)  I only watch for the commercials and the halftime show.  Boy, was THAT ever a waste of time!!!  On the upside, I managed to (re)finish Right Side Short Rows on my Hoodie Shawl Cardigan.  (Yes!  Finish.  Again!)  It didn't work out so well the first time around.  I'm confident that things look better (and actually line up properly) this time.  :o))

MONDAY - Grocery shopping and associated tasks filled my afternoon free time. (Bet you're really wishing you could be me!!  Sigh... Not so much, huh?)  The evening hours were filled with writing and releasing my Mail Call Monday post and catching up with what's going on out in BlogLand.  No sewing.

TUESDAY - Banking and bill paying ate up a fair amount of the afternoon's free time.  I also wrote and released my Scrap Attack Tuesday post.  I'm SEW glad that Sarah over at Confessions of a Fabric Addict offered this challenge!  Check back at the end of the month to see what I accomplished.

WEDNESDAY - Today was Knit Group (on its new day, just for me!), followed by some sewing time with Needleb.  I suppose you might be wondering if I got anything accomplished.  Here it is, in living color!  A little bit of PURPLE sewing:

Special thanks to Diane!!  The block with the cool swirls and funky off-kilter slashes was in one of her gifted scrap bags.  What FUN!!

THURSDAY - Hmm... Are you beginning to see a pattern???  No quilting, but I do have a piece of PURPLE knitting to show.  Not mine!  It's an upcoming pattern from my friend Emily:

A very difficult shade of purple to photograph, I might add.

FRIDAY - Acclimating to a new schedule is hard work!!  Turns out that quilting this afternoon wasn't much easier.

I started with MORE cutting for the Tie Quilt:

Then, moved back to my black scrap basket in process, followed by the brown one.  Neither held my interest for very long.

Instead, I layered and quilted the top for a sweet little Quilted Yarn Bowl to be gifted:

It's been trimmed up and is ready for assembly.  Hooray!!

SATURDAY - It's that time, again.  LINK PARTY day over on the So Scrappy blog!!!  Head over to see the PURPLE goodness.  Also, give a go at Mari's Squared Away block for February.

Until next time...

Scrap Attack Tuesday - February Job Pull

Welcome to the February edition of Scrap Attack Tuesday!!  If YOU are a quilter, you probably have some fabric scraps.  If you have been quilting for 20+ years like I have, you may have a TON of scraps!!  (You may not want to admit to them, but you probably HAVE them.)  Sarah to Confessions of a Fabric Addict not only HAS scraps, she's prepared to USE those scraps or give them away!  Details of the Scrap Attack Challenge can be found in THIS POST.  You can find Sarah's monthly task HERE.

This month's job pull:

2. Per Sarah, Work on a Double Wedding Ring (my antique)

If I have extra time:

1. Give away a big bag of scraps like Sarah!

Thank you again, Sarah, for issuing a challenge to encourage us all to take another look at our scrap stash!  I don't know about anyone else, but this is JUST what I needed to clear some more of my scraps from my studio shelves.

Until next time...

Mail Call Monday - SCRAPS for the Win

Welcome to another edition of Mail Call Monday!!  From time to time bloggers offer drawings for various items.  Sometimes it's a pack of FQs from a generous supporter.  Other times, it's scraps from their very own fabric stash.

Such was the case when Mari @ Academic Quilter recently had a drawing for a small bundle of scraps.  See THIS post.

Guess who won?!?!

I did.  I did!!

::Insert happy dance here.::

Mailing had to wait until after the arrival and departure of a(nother) snow storm.  No worries... I've got PLENTY to keep me busy!!

Late last week, my prize package arrived:

It came complete with a note:

Just look at the decoration on the card:

Mari thanked ME for taking these scraps off her hands:

Seriously?!?!  No!!  Thank YOU, Mari, for the scrap infusion:

One of the little baggies included 1.5" squares:

Another included a batch of 2" squares:

I can't spot it in the photos above, but Mari also enclosed a bit of the backing fabric from her Christmas in February quilt that was just recently completed.  Scroll down to the bottom of her post to get a look at the adorable String of Lights (my name for it) fabric.
What FUN!!  I always enjoy adding to my Holiday collection.

Thank you, again, Mari!!  As you may know... I absolutely LOVE scraps.  Other people's scraps are even better!  Pardon me, I'm off to sort some more scraps.  BONUS:  There may be bits that I can use for my blocks for the 2018 Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

Until next time...

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC18- Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This was a transition week for the RSC.  We moved from sewing with BLUE to working with scraps of ???

SUNDAY - There's a new Quilt-Along in town:

Check it out over on Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog!!  Today is the first day.  I'm off to see what Sarah has up her sleeve...

MONDAY - Today is my last day at Monday Knit Group for a while.  That's OK.  I'll get over it!  :P

Why so nonchalant about it, Joyful?

Well, here is why...  This group is so wonderful that they voted to rearrange the weekly knit schedule to accommodate my new schedule!!  Isn't that just the sweetest?!?!

Thanks you, knitters!!!  I am thankful to be part of such a loving group.  I appreciate your flexibility more than I can express.

On a celebratory note...

Happy Birthday, Mr. Basket!!!  I hope you had a wonderful day.

I did!!  Knit Group was followed by a sewing session at home and dinner out for DH's birthday.  YUM!!!

I also posted a new installment of Mail Call Monday.  You can find it at THIS LINK.

TUESDAY - Today, I spent the morning with a new little friend.  Afterwards, I...

Celebrated the NEW Color(s) of the Month posted by Angela for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  Lavender and:

Find the announcement post HERE.  Thanks to Ivani from Arte em Casa for alerting me to the fact that Angela posted it early!!  I know what I'm working on next...

Sorting out my PURPLE scraps.

But first, I've got to head out to my Monthly Quilt Group.  Bye!!

Afterwards, I posted another Scrap Attack Tuesday post.

WEDNESDAY - The day started off with a fun meeting with an old friend.  Coffee and a nice chat.  Bliss!!

And an afternoon of quilting with Needleb.  I accomplished...

SOMETHING... but can't remember what!!  :o((

Later, I released this week's Wonderful Wednesday post.

THURSDAY - Today was my Weekly Quilt Group meeting.  The first one that I've missed in quite some time.  Alas, that will become the new normal.  On an up note, they sent me a few pictures to enjoy!!  :o))

FRIDAY - I was busy through the early afternoon, but went to quilt with Needleb for a while.  I concentrated on... NOTHING!!

Instead, I did a little work on my BROWN and BLACK baskets from last year...

Then worked on a sweet new basket for a good friend...

... And layered up my "Sandy" basket:

SATURDAY - It's our first PURPLE LINK PARTY for the year!!  SEW many people love...  Are YOU one of them???  If so, head over to Angela's So Scrappy blog for a hefty dose of it.  :o))

Meanwhile, I'll be playing with THESE:

Until next time...

Wonderful Wednesday - Successful Surgery???

Welcome to this week's installment of Wonderful Wednesday!!  This week I'm here to tell you about a surgical procedure that I alluded to in Saturday's ScrapHappy post.

The horror!!  Mom found a hole in a special friend.  Baby can't sleep without Ruffy!  The Joyful Quilter to the rescue:

With the "Lovey" secured to light-weight fusible stabilizer...

I sewed around the edges and "birthed" the cuddle pup:

Notice the Band-Aid for his boo boo - Mom found a hole, which I stitched up prior to "surgery":

A lap around the perimeter...

Followed by another for good measure...

The patient looks like new:

He spent some time in "Recovery" just to make sure his vitals were stable and that there were no complications:

Ruffy was driven by "ambulance" (otherwise known as my car) back to his home and the waiting arms of his boy...

... Who promptly performed the "sniff" test:

While those photos make is SEEM like the surgery was a success, it took the weekend to know for certain, as the verdict was still out.

All was smiles...

... Until the boy touched the new fluffy side.  Definitely a mixed review!!  Only time will tell.  Days passed.  Finally, news arrived.

Mom sent some additional photos and heaved a HUGE sigh of relief because...

Hooray!!!  The surgery was indeed a success!!

Until next time...
Hope for the Best!!!

Scrap Attack Tuesday - January Mission Accomplished

Welcome to the next edition of Scrap Attack Tuesday!!  In this post you will see what I did with my January Job Pulls.  Ready?

Here is a reminder...

This month's job pull:

11. Make more scrappy yarn bowls like these:

FREE pattern found at Christina Cameli's A Few Scraps blog.

CHECK!!

This month's Birthday (Yarn) Bowl:

If I have extra time:

9. Make something with ORANGE scraps:

CHECK!!

I had a few hours on Friday afternoon to play in my studio:

What is it, Joyful???

Why, it's March's Birthday (Yarn) Bowl, just a bit early:

I'm happy to have it finished ahead of time.  The recipient will be SEW excited!!  She had already put in her request after seeing everyone else using their Fabric Yarn Bowls.  :o))

Thank you again, Sarah, for issuing the Scrap Attack Challenge.  If not for you, these two items would still be a pile of scraps!

See other Scrap Attack projects HERE.  Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict will be posting the LINK UP sometime tomorrow.

Until next time...
