Welcome to another edition of Wonderful Wednesday!!  The day has finally arrived.  Late morning found me in the car headed for parts unknown.  Or rather to...

Thomasville, North Carolina, which was unknown to me.

After an hour of driving and another half-hour of standing in line, I turned the heel on my latest sock as I waited...

... For my 2nd Covid vaccine.  It was done in a flash and when I arrived at the door to leave, that flash might well have been the FLOOD variety with the rain that was pouring down:

That didn't deter me from my mission:

I zoomed in and changed the color so you could get a better look at the sign on my way into the parking lot:

My first visit to Pineapple Fabrics since the opening of their Warehouse Store in Archdale, NC:

This is what I saw upon entering the warehouse store:

I came with a list...

First stop, selvedge bundles for Needleb:

Next, unbleached muslin for Knittingsuek:

Then, a little something for myself.  This will be the backing for my Scrap Jar Stars quilt when I ever finish all the blocks:

Thanks, Judy! I'll get this done as soon as I can. I'm not sure how long it will take, as it's a Challenge week for Project QUILTING and I have 3 client quilts in the house to finish.

This was Judy's gracious reply:

The VERYNEXTDAY!!!

I thought that you might like some process pictures...

First, I pulled my favorite pin cushion book off the shelf:

I went in search of the appropriate scrap baskets and pulled

some of my favorite black and white prints, including a STRIPE

that I didn't end up using in my Hop project:

Piecing came next, but I didn't get a picture of that.  I had decided on the Tetrahedron

pattern, since I haven't tried making that shape before:

Stuffed with Batting scraps, crushed walnut shells, and fiber fill, Judy's new pin cushion is waiting to be stitched up:

Looking at it now, I probably should have turned it the other way around, as that black swirl fabric would have made a better base:

Here is the completed pin cushion (Speak up, now, if you hate it, Judy!), waiting for its trip to the post office:

Too bad I'm allergic to the post office!!  Days later...

After several days, I got this review from Judy:

I am still loving the pinnie you gifted me, I like that it’s got a little heft. I placed a bobbin over a big headed pin when I was hand sewing the binding to my bunny mini and it worked so well! It just fed smoothly as I rethreaded my needle. Thank you again!

Stay at Home Round Robin - SAHRR - The Reveal

Welcome to another edition of {Not so...} Mini Monday!!  This was supposed to be the final reveal of the Stay at Home Round Robin.  You see, today is the day that participants are to link-up their finished quilts or quilt tops.  I will be doing that once the party is posted.

Gail @ Quilting Gail hosted a Stay-at-Home Round Robin.  She recruited some of her blogger friends to help out.  I took the chance that I might be able to find time to work on this project.

Only days before this post, I once again turned my attention to finishing up Round 7's Pinwheels:

... I planned a couple extra rows.  Another red piano key row (shown above) and another Plus block row (shown below):

Drum roll, please...

Row Seven has been added to the quilt:

Next, I played with those red piano keys:

I sewed pairs of scraps together...

... To create sections...

... Which turned into an anchor for the bottom of my quilt:

I'm SEW pleased to be able to present (the TOP of ) my Stay at Home ROW Robin (which I had hoped to finish today, but the longarm had other ideas):

You might notice the extra row of Plus Blocks that I mentioned earlier.  I was in the zone while making them (and SEW excited about being close to a finish) that I completely forgot photos!

I am SEW pleased to have completed the top of my SAHRR!!

Sew Some Love Sunday - The Shelter Quilt

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!  Today, we're taking a break from the Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilt Drive to bring you another donation opportunity that I was presented by Janis @ Canyon Rim Quilting.

I might have mentioned it before, but here's the whole story...

Back in the beginning of February, Janis approached me in the following email:

I wanted to let you know about an opportunity to do a donation quilt if you are interested. One of my dear friends is the director of ... a non-profit that cares for the homeless in our area. They’ve been doing this work for many years. They have a women’s shelter - limited room, but very nice. They are in the process of expanding though, and will have beds for 35 women and 25 men. They’ve not had a men’s shelter up till now, though they feed the homeless daily. My friend Laura is looking for quilts for the new beds. They are twin size beds and I have other specifications if you are at all interested in participating. They open their new expanded shelter on April 1st and hope to have quilts for all the beds by then.

I responded with the following...

Thanks for the opportunity to contribute, Janis. At any other time, I might have been able to fit it in! As you know, I am in the middle of a massive donation project for Lutheran World Relief. Between that, Project QUILTING, the 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge here on my blog, and the client quilts, along with the commissions that I'm working on, I doubt there's really any time for another thing on my plate.

 

Just in case I can manage it, what are the requirements? I will check my stash of quilts to see if there might be one that I can quilt up quickly. I can also ask my Quilt Bee to check theirs, as well.

Please advise.

When Janis provided the additional information requested, I asked the members of my Weekly Quilt Bee if they might have quilts available for donation.  Maggie stepped up to the plate, as her Morewood Mystery was almost finished.  She had plans to donate it (somewhere) and was happy to help.  I sent the following photo to Janis for Laura's apprioval:

Britt soon followed by volunteering to quilt the quilt.  I was on hand for a photo op on the day of the quilt top drop-off:

I received the following photo once the quilting had been completed:

Last weekend was delivery day:

I'll be mailing out the completed quilt in the next day or so.  By the time you read this, it should be well on it's way across the country:

Here are the three busy bees who worked together to bring a quilt to a bed for a homeless shelter in Northern California:

Thanks for the teamwork, ladies!  Maggie and Britt, your contributions are greatly appreciated.  It feels good to give of our time and talents to bring comfort to others.
