SEW...
You MIGHT see a bunch of that color popping up on my blog for the next several weeks. Who doesn't need a little extra sunshine during the middle of winter?
Let's take a look at my week, shall we???
After dinner, I joined the Guild Board meeting to discuss the 2021 Guild Challenge. Guess who volunteered to be the coordinator? Yep! That would be me:
You can find Preeti's TUTORIAL @ Sew Preeti Quilts. Maybe next week I will have sewn my block! Who am I kidding? For now, I think I'm happy just gathering the fabrics to sew at my next (Virtual) Quilt Retreat.
SUNDAY - A new Sew Some Love Sunday post went live. It was a busy one. Lots of happenings!
Once I was all caught up with my bloggy friends, I did a mock-up of the first String Therapy block from Sarah @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict. I used YELLOW as a way to get a jump on February's Rainbow Scrap Challenge Color of the Month:
MONDAY - This morning, another edition of (Not so) Mini Monday went live here on the blog (a little early) since I didn't want to miss the SAHRR Link Party this week. As it turns out, I had a bit more time than I thought. Oops!
Gold is a shade of YELLOW, right?! :o))
Later in the day, a new edition of Mail Call Monday was released. I also took some time to play with my YELLOW fabric scraps.
After dinner, I joined the Guild Board meeting to discuss the 2021 Guild Challenge. Guess who volunteered to be the coordinator? Yep! That would be me:
The new president was kind enough to schedule my discussion near the beginning of the meeting and afterwards, I went back to playing in my YELLOW scraps. Leftover Crumb blocks, this time:
And...
Emailing back and forth with Janis @ Canyon Rim Quilting. She invited me to participate in a donation opportunity. Not having much time for blog reading lately, she had forgotten about the Lutheran World Relief Mission Quilt Drive that I'm coordinating.
If you have any XL Twin (approx. 60" x 90") quilts in grays, browns, or greens suitable for males, or XL Twin quilts in blues, pinks, or lavenders suitable for females, follow the link above to donate them to a new facility which will be opening an expanded center serving homeless around Chico, CA.
TUESDAY - Another day, another blog post. This afternoon, it was a Tidy Up Tuesday edition of The Guest Blogger(s). Before that, I was up at the crack of dawn to take DH to the hospital for a procedure. He's napping soundly, as I type this.
Between the time I dropped him off and the time I picked him up, Bestsy and I did a quilt swap:
My one quilted one for her FOUR unquilted ones:
The only YELLOW in my day is shown in the photo below. These three egg cartons (and 122 more!) were passed along to a local egg farmer, who was kind enough to share a dozen jumbo eggs with us for our recycling effort:
This afternoon, I worked on Round 2 of my SAHRR project:
WEDNESDAY - This morning, the shingles were delivered for our new roof. At the time, I thought the through-the-window photo might work out. Hmm... not so much:
Storm damage will soon be repaired. Now, if the weather would just cooperate with the roofers! Our construction dumpster also arrived:
After that excitement, I spent some time on the computer catching up on Bee blog posts and checking email. As much as I grumble about Google asking me if I want to follow-up on one email or another, this time it saved me! I had missed an email from Susan @ Desert Sky Quilts and look what she sent me:
She created an alternate version for my sidebar, which connects to the TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page at the top of my blog. I have updated that page with the direct link for January's Link Party post and will do the same for February, when that goes live on the blog. Thank you SEW much Susan, for taking the time to make a better button for the sidebar and the top of my TABLE SCRAPS Challenge page!!! It's not something I was capable of doing, so I really appreciate your time and assistance.
This afternoon, Ruth B. stopped by to drop off her LWR quilts and have a quilt consult on one of her quilts:
I enjoyed my weekly Zoom call with LeeAnna:
While I was waiting to join the call, I chose fabric for this month's Picket Star block:
THURSDAY - ZoomBEE this morning. Two other members joined the meeting, but I failed to get another group photo:
Where I revealed one of my YELLOW projects for the RSC, which might double as this month's entry for the 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge:
This afternoon, Ruth came back to audition thread colors for the quilt she plans to finish next:
FRIDAY - ZoomKNIT met with the following knitters in attendance:
I spent the bulk of the afternoon and evening at the longarm. Carol's quilt is almost done:
SATURDAY - This week was a bit of a blur! Can you believe that it's already time for Angela's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge over on her So Scrappy blog??? It is and I am SEW looking forward to visiting all of my RSC Quilter friends to see who (else) has been having some fun with their YELLOW scraps. I wonder if anyone (else) has started their February 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge project, yet??? Let me know in the comments below if YOU have. I'll check in later, as I'm off to a (Virtual) Sew Day with my "real life" quilting friends today.
Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!!
I have started my Table Scraps project! I have a baby quilt to work on this month, soooooo, I need to have a sort of clear space! 😏 I’m excited about the Table Scraps button! How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteI'm tired just reading your sewing week. Corona can't slow down Joy. I want to congratulation you on all the time and energy you spend for the LWR. You are amazing! ;^)
ReplyDeleteWow! You have been SEW busy! That's a lot in one week. Awesome for you, Joy!
ReplyDeleteYou had a VERY busy month, and you get so much accomplished. I've always admired folks who were able to coordinate events. It takes some important organizing skills.
ReplyDeleteThe blue and yellow combo always remind me of a precious older couple who were from the Ukraine (they're nat'l colors!)
ReplyDeleteI haven't started my Table Scraps project for this month yet, but I know what I'm doing! Meanwhile, crumb blocks in yellow for the win! Love that pretty fabric for your house block, too.
ReplyDeleteanother week of sewing success!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the roof. We lost ours two years ago to a windstorm and it took months before it could finally be replaced, the roofers where busy and they are still at it, as many did not realise that they got more damage until a while later when the rainy season started. Yellow crumb blocks is continuing with some leftovers from last month. Recycling and using what we have.
ReplyDeleteYou were really on a roll this week! Funny about the egg cartons. I take my used glass vases from delivered flowers to my local florist for recycling. Really? How many vases do I need? Anyway, I usually walk out of there with a small thank you bouquet from them. Hope DH is recovering from his procedure!
ReplyDeleteI'm exhausted from reading about your week. My goodness, do you ever rest? I haven't even pulled out my yellow scraps yet. As far as Table Scraps, I was thinking about something with daffodils, but I'm not into applique and the daffodil doesn't lend itself to a pieced version. There are foundation paper pieced ones out there, but they don't lend themselves to a table topper. I'm not even sure I have any daffodil fabric is my vast hoard of florals. I have a big bag of egg cartons in the basement, but haven't yet found someone who wants them. I did finish a baby quilt flimsy yesterday, though, so it's not like I haven't done anything.
ReplyDeletePat
Busy week. Hope DH is recovering fine from his procedure. Love the cheery yellow face mask! I started sewing blocks for a table topper yesterday. We will see if I get into the sewing room today....
ReplyDeleteYellow such a happy colour I'm sure we are all pleased to be wrong with it this month. Another very busy week for you Joy, hope your hubby is recovering well
ReplyDeleteGreat progress this week and fun yellow scraps!
ReplyDeleteI know some of our guild members don't have a computer, but most do. I'm wondering why we've not done anything on Zoom. Now it's been a full year since the last time we were able to meet.
