(Not so) Mini Monday - SAHRR - Round 2

Welcome to (Not so) Mini Monday!!  I'm still lagging behind on the Round Robin, but the post is being released a little early.  The good news is that I've made some progress on my project.  :o))

I started off with this (partial) Feathered Star block:

Last week, I did a quick mock-up of piano key prompt:

Nothing more was accomplished, until...

Mid-week, when I tested a completely different sashing strip:

Once that was done, I began planning out my Plus Sign border:

Sorry, quilters!  That will have to wait until I can find my bolt of muslin.  It seems to have gone missing SOMEWHERE in the studio.

Sew Some Love Sunday - Promise Fulfillment and Quilt Top #14

Welcome to another edition of Sew Some Love Sunday!!!  This week, I'm here to share the latest happenings for the ongoing donation project that I'm coordinating.  Let me tell you...  The minions have been busy!  :o))

Back in the Fall, at the first in-person NT Bee meeting since Covid Lockdown, news had spread about the need for contributions to the LWR Mission Quilt Drive here on The Joyful Quilter.  Everyone in the group signed up for one thing or another.

Here's what several members of the group have been up to...

Kirsten signed up for quilt backing and she has since made her way through her fabric stash and selected some yardage that she could part with.  It has now been delivered:

A promise fulfilled.  Thank you SEW much, Kirsten!!

She and Monkey kindly took Quilt Top #9 (shown in the lower right corner of the photo above) with them, since it has been quilted and was waiting to be bound:

You will see more of that when it has been returned.

Yep!  Deborah has also been busy.  Here she is, delivering Quilt Top #14 for the Mission Quilt project:

This lovely quilt top was pieced from the squares donated by Nann @ With Strings Attached:

Thank you, Deborah, for participating in the Mission Quilt project!!  I appreciate the fact that you provided border fabric from your stash to bring the quilt top up to meet the size preference of LWR.

But, WAIT!!!

Britt has been busy, too.  She stopped by to deliver a quilt fresh off the rails of her longarm.  (Post scheduled soon.)  While here, she picked up Quilt Top #14 for quilting.  In front of that, you might notice that she also took along some backing fabric (also donated by Nann):

ScrapHappy Saturday - RSC21 - Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the 2021 Rainbow Scrap Challenge!!  This week got off to a slow, yet busy start.  You'll see what I mean in a moment.

Walk with me through my week, if you will...

SUNDAY - Emails and blog posts filled my morning.  I try to stay caught up, but I'm several weeks behind on our Quilt Bee's blog.  :o((

TWO blog posts were released today.  Follow THIS LINK for an update on the LWR Mission Quilt Drive and check out THIS POST for my PQ12.2 Fussy Cut challenge quilt.

The afternoon began with COOKIES!!  I met my friend Stacy to exchange my cash for her daughter's Girl Scout Cookies:

A while later, Needleb came over for a quilt swap...

...  And a binding consult on the front walk:

MONDAY - The morning was filled with writing up blog posts and answering emails.  Later in the day, I cut and prepared PINK binding for my January TABLE SCRAPS Challenge due this weekend:

Finally, I checked in with the Stay At Home Round Robin right dinner.  This week's assignment for Round Two... Plus Signs with Emily @ The Darling Dogwood blog.  I'm hoping to get started on mine soon, as I'm running a week (or two) behind on my SAHRR.  I shared my (meager) progress in tonight's Mini Monday post.

TUESDAY - The day started off with a slow morning, but the afternoon was a bit of a revolving door.  First, Carol stopped by for a quilt swap:

Before my noon appointment, I took a few minutes to tighten the ear loops on a couple of Mr. Wonderful's face masks:

Next, Knittingsuek stopped by for a grocery swap.  It seems that I caught her mid-wave.  (Sorry, SZQ!):

A little while later, I met with Betsy, who dropped off an emergency quilt to be quilted:

Then, Maggie dropped by to pick up a couple of quilt tops that need some enhancements done to fit the LWR size requirements:

You would think that was enough for one day, but noooo...

Tonight was the night of my monthly evening bee's Zoom meeting:

WEDNESDAY - A new twist on the Wonderful Wednesday post series went live today.  YOU won't want to miss it!!

I did fun stuff like laundry and dishes while waiting the time for my weekly Zoom call with LeeAnna:

THURSDAY - I was late for ZoomBEE, but that waited for me to take this week's group picture:

The Guest Blogger(s) - Vol. 2 - Miss Pat

Welcome to another edition of The Guest Blogger(s)!!  Earlier this week, I introduced a new series as part of my Wonderful Wednesday post.  I hadn't considered the fact that there might be more non-bloggers who wanted to join the TABLE SCRAPS Link Party, so this will now be the beginnings of an entirely different series of posts.  Additional installments will be added on any day of the week, as necessary.

Miss Pat had some trouble joining the Table Scraps Link Party from her Instagram account.  I was more than happy to help her and first tried to walk her through the instructions for linking up from IG.  If anyone knows how to do that properly, please leave a comment and I will get back to you.  I would love to be able to share that for future link parties (as my directions were obviously lacking.)  Thanks, in advance!

January 2021 - TABLE SCRAPS Runner/Topper Challenge - Link Party!!!

Welcome to the 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Runner/Topper Challenge!!  Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter your table runner/topper, mug rug, etc. in the Link Party (by Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM.

Where's the table dressing, Joyful???

I'm getting to that.  Since it was PINK month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, I pulled out this Quilted Scrap Basket:

What happened next was some sorting...

... Some pressing...

... And some trimming:

All of that took place during a (Virtual) Retreat Day, and was followed by making some changes to this design:

Later, I gathered the strips, squared up the batting a bit and cut the backing to size:

With the glue from my recent prize basket, I tried glue basting:

Auditioning the thread provided a clear winner for use in the bobbin:

To border or not to border?  That was the question (after realizing the backing was shorter than I intended my runner to be.)  Once that was decided, options were assessed.  Beginning with this combination...

... Working my way through a selection of greens:

After those tasks were completed, I was ready to get organized...

This took place on my design floor, where all of the strips were laid out on the batting.  Some adjustments were made during the process:

The center strip was pinned in place and the rest were gathered into a LEFT of center stack and a RIGHT of center stack:

Stitching (finally) commenced.  Pressing after each strip:

I sewed one side...

... Then the other:

The winning back borders were added after the majority of strips were sewn in place:

Binding came next and I made my selection from the following:

When Needle B stopped by for an LWR quilt swap, I brought out the options for her (valued) opinion:

I cut and pieced the binding earlier this week:
