**First off, my apologies for last Friday's shocking announcement about the "family emergency". I meant to edit that out/tone it down, but forgot before releasing the post. Thank you for the well wishes! Things have very nearly returned to "normal" now. You may be wondering...
What happened THIS week, Joyful???
I'm having a lot of fun playing with a different sort of scraps. Never fear! There will be Bright/Dark BLUE fabric scrap sewing to share for next week's TABLE SCRAPS Challenge post.
SUNDAY - It was a Zoom-y kind of day!! The morning started out with a call to Knittingsuek:
In the middle of the afternoon, I did an Open Hangout over on Get Messy Art. Caylee jokingly calls it Artist Speed Dating:
Later in the afternoon, I gave LeeAnna @ Not Afraid of Color a break from gardening with a quick Zoom call to make up for the one we missed last week:
MONDAY - I spent time with Alice Sheridan @ Soul Rocket Studio this morning. She's hosting the Midsummer Creative Refresh and Reset Retreat. Today's nugget of inspiration was "If you want something, you have to make it a priority!" Alternatively... "Don't pretend that something is important, if you're not going to make time for it!"
To that end, she shared a story about her husband and (not) going to the gym. After 15 years of him saying that he wanted to go to the gym, she had enough one day and flat out told him that if he wasn't going to stop talking about it and actually DO IT, that she didn't want to hear about it!! (Now, he goes cycling instead.)
TUESDAY - I worked on a paper collage which included some fabric scraps and a little bit of BLUE. This is just the beginning, I had fun mixing up the background paint color, but it seems to "need" a bit more SOMETHING in the middle:
WEDNESDAY - No Zoom-ing with LeeAnna today. She's fully involved in the Embroidery Summit with Rebecca Page. (There were only a couple of classes which interested me, but I'm looking forward to seeing what will be included in the upcoming Paper Crafts Summit.)
While she was doing that, I was burying the last of the thread tails on my friend Carol's quilt - too bad I apparently deleted the darling bunny photo, so you get another look at the fox:
THURSDAY - I opted out of Weekly Quilt Group today. Hanging close to home due to last week's Covid exposure. (There. I've said it. It was WAY too close to home!) Isolation isn't so bad when you're a quilter. In fact, it felt rather like a staycation! :P
Summer has come on with a vengeance! 96, feels like 101... was followed by this:
The storm blew through quickly and a while later this was the view out of my studio windows:
Since there was no sewing during the storm, I decided to ready the next quilt for the longarm. This was a beautiful collaboration between Preeti @ Sew Preeti Quilts and "The Piecing Fairy" during the 2021 Positivity QAL Block Drive hosted here on the blog:
Once the quilt back was cut and loaded, I wandered over to the Rebecca Page website...
... To take in one of the only videos of interest to me. Rainbow, of course:
FRIDAY - Wonder of wonders, since I developed no symptoms, I was able to attend Knit Group today. It was good to spend time with Tracy...
... And with Hilary:
This evening, I enjoyed watching another of the Embroidery Week classes:
SATURDAY - It's LINK PARTY day for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! I hope you will join me in visiting Angela @ So Scrappy to see what the RSC Quilters have been up to this week. I was thinking of you all when I snapped the photo below:
This week's scrappy (washi tape) efforts:

Until next time...
Get SCRAPPY!!
hi... yep let's zoom...
ReplyDeleteA busy week for you in spite of that bit of isolation. I'm staying isolated from friends for a few days too, as we traveled last week and have no idea if we were exposed or not.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are symptom free! Lots of creativity happening at your house. I'd better get started on my table scraps challenge piece!
ReplyDeleteYou are so full of fun things!!! I am drawn to the layout of that positivity quilt... it looks cool! Glad you are feeling good ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are symptom free and feeling good! Glad to see you enjoying your week. Take care! ~Jeanne

ReplyDeleteI’m glad you are “back to Normal “ I missed your post as we were driving from Florida to Wyoming. I did think of you as we drove through corners of your “neck of the woods”. Alabama, Tennessee,Kentucky, Mississippi etc! It was hot and more humid than we are used to! Stay healthy. I’m still not able to post easily from my iPad…..but I’ll checking in!
The washi tape is very pretty, I had no idea there were so many prints! Good luck with the Positivity quilt, I'm just starting on this year's blocks. Already behind schedule, of course. Stay well and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear there was no positive COVID for you. I know that would be the last thing you need. However, the positivity quilt looks great and I'm sure you'll do a great job quilting it! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSorry you had a close call with
ReplyDeleteCovid, but glad to hear you apparently dodged the bullet. My neighbors 3 doors down the street are both recovering and 2 quilt group members had recent cases. Otherwise, it looks like you maintained your usual busy schedule, even if you didn't go anywhere.
Pat
Glad you seem to have missed getting Covid! The last photo of scraps on the design wall looks like a tropical salad--delightful!
